Jie Fu Lian shook his head, feeling extremely tired to the point where his vision was starting to go dark.

The curses and shouting had started to fade away but the hateful words repeated themselves over and over again in his head.

"Jump!"

"Just Jump!"

"Give up!"

At one point, Jie Fu Lian was also softly muttering these words, looking as if he were under a spell.

When he glanced down at the ground, he vaguely saw a rat rushing away but did not pay too much attention to it. He believed it to be nothing more than his own imagination.

He took a step back, nearing the very edge of the cliff.

Jie Fu Lian slightly smiled as he got ready to jump into the abyss.

When Hua Tianshu reached the cliff, he immediately saw Jie Fu Lian and without thinking his actions through, he went ahead and put himself in front of Jie Fu Lian as he angrily shouted, "Stop this nonsense!"

Jie Fu Lian immediately snapped out of whatever trance he was in and was a bit stunned to see Hua Tianshu appearing out of nowhere.

When Hua Tianshu raised his head to look at all the people who had gathered around to arrest Jie Fu Lian, he couldn’t help but feel both shocked and disgusted.

Even Jie Yang Zan was here and instead of protecting Jie Fu Lian, he was standing on the opposite side, supporting the Jin Sect.

Hua Tianshu clenched his fist and veins could be seen popping out due to anger.

"Hua Tianshu, what are you doing?" It was the voice of Sect Master Quan who was standing beside Jin Gengxin.

"I’m doing what is right," Hua Tianshu replied without any hesitation, "Sect master, you know it too. Jie Fu Lian is innocent."

Sect Master Quan looked at Hua Tianshu with a complicated gaze and nodded his head as he spoke, "If he is truly innocent, it would be proven by the end of this investigation."

"That’s right," Jin Gengxin also added as he joined in and spoke, "If we do not capture him right now, who knows where he would run off to? If he goes to the demon realm and triggers a war, who can be held accountable? For now, we must capture him!"

Hua Tianshu scoffed as he heard this, "You’re talking as if you are sure that he would be found guilty. Sect Master Jin, why are you so sure that he would run away to the demon realm?"

"He already ran away from the Yan Sect as soon as he heard about the investigation. If he wasn’t guilty, why would he have done such a thing? Even now, he has the choice to cooperate but he seems to be refusing so strongly. Is that not because he is guilty?"

Jie Fu Lian said nothing to defend himself, in fact, it was highly questionable if he was even listening to what Jin Gengxin had said. His eyes were completely focused on Hua Tianshu and although there were tears in his eyes, there was also a small smile on his face as he looked at Hua Tianshu who had stepped up to defend him.

He couldn’t help but think that Wei Hua was perhaps right.

Thankfully, there was at least one person who hadn’t given up on him.

"Sect Master Jin, why would he cooperate and be sent to jail if he is innocent? Must an innocent man be tortured and forced to admit crimes that he hadn’t even been aware of...?!"

Hua Tianshu almost wanted to laugh at this ridiculous response.

"So you want to arrest him just because he is a half-demon?"

"Anyone in their right mind would know that a half-demon possesses a serious threat to us."

"Sect Master Jin, it doesn’t matter if he is a half-demon or not. He is Jie Fu Lian and Jie Fu Lian is an innocent man who does not deserve to be treated like this."

When Jie Fu Lian heard this, tears trailed down his cheeks, but this time, they were tears of happiness. He was happy that Hua Tianshu believed in him.

Hua Tianshu was probably the first one to say that it was okay even if he was a half-demon.

"You fool, you are being tricked by him!" Jin Gengxin scolded Hua Tianshu as he spoke, "If he was just a half-demon, perhaps there would have been a chance of him being an innocent man, but he isn’t just an ordinary half-demon, is he? He is directly related to the demon king! He was purposefully sent here in order to ruin us all!"

"Sect Master Jin, why don’t you start writing a book? It looks like you have a very talented imagination," Hua Tianshu taunted and Jin Gengxin’s face grew red in anger.

"Jie Fu Lian has never contacted the demon king nor does he have any relationship with that man," Hua Tianshu sighed as he spoke, "In fact, it’s so ridiculous to even think that they are related. If Jie Fu Lian was really Shen Fang’s own blood, would Shen Fang have allowed you people to gang up on him like this?"

"Then how can you explain the seal left on his body?" Jin Gengxin gritted his teeth as he questioned, "It is a seal that only the demon king knows how to make!"

Hua Tianshu gulped as he heard this question and couldn’t give a response. In the first place itself, he wondered how they knew about the seal that couldn’t even be seen by the ordinary eye.

Jin Gengxin smirked as he saw Hua Tianshu’s stunned reaction and continued, "If it wasn’t him, then how come wherever he went, people started being brutally murdered by demons? Hua Tianshu, you should know it the best. You were also there in the illusion dream, were you not? You were almost killed by him!"

Hua Tianshu gritted his teeth as he heard this and immediately defended, "He never tried to kill me! Don’t twist the story around!"

"He might not have done it directly but who can say that it wasn’t all planned by him? He must have informed the demon king and together, they created that illusion dream just to kill all of you. If that isn’t it, then how come the demon king threatened to kill everyone but Jie Fu Lian?!"

"Sect Master Jin, have you always been this unreasonable?" Hua Tianshu raised an eyebrow as he questioned, "How can you say such things when you weren’t even there? You don’t know what happened so how dare you make up such lies? I was there and the whole time we stayed inside the illusion dream, I was always right beside Jie Fu Lian. I know it better than anyone. He is innocent."

"That proves it! You were bewitched by him!"

Hua Tianshu opened his mouth to retort to that but before any words could leave his mouth, he heard Jie Fu Lian’s soft voice.

"Tiantian..."

Hua Tianshu immediately turned around to look at the man and his angry expression quickly changed into that of worry.

With a relieved face, Jie Fu Lian warmly smiled as he looked at Hua Tianshu and opened his mouth to say something.

However, Hua Tianshu’s eyes immediately widened in shock as he looked at Jie Fu Lian’s action.

Without saying anything, Jie Fu Lian took a step back and suddenly tripped on a rock before falling into the abyss.

Hua Tianshu had clearly seen it... The moment Jie Fu Lian fell, he muttered out the word ’tired’.

Time seemed to have come to a stop. Everything happened too fast.

As soon as Jie Fu Lian’s body leaned back, falling into the abyss, Hua Tianshu moved on instinct and tried to save the man but unfortunately, he was still late.

Hua Tianshu reached out to grab Jie Fu Lian’s hand but the only thing he grabbed was empty air.

With his eyes bulging out in horror, Hua Tianshu stayed at the edge of the cliff and looked down at Jie Fu Lian who had already closed his eyes and was slowly sinking deeper into the abyss.

In the end, Hua Tianshu also decided to jump in after Jie Fu Lian but was stopped by Sect Master Quan who quickly moved and somehow managed to pull the man back to safety.
