The Demon King is an Idiot [BL]-Chapter 149: In a single moment
Time seemed to have come to a stop. Everything happened too fast.
As soon as Jie Fu Lian’s body leaned back, falling into the abyss, Hua Tianshu moved on instinct and tried to save the man but unfortunately, he was still late.
Hua Tianshu reached out to grab Jie Fu Lian’s hand but the only thing he grabbed was empty air.
With his eyes bulging out in horror, Hua Tianshu stayed at the edge of the cliff and looked down at Jie Fu Lian who had already closed his eyes and was slowly sinking deeper into the abyss.
In the end, Hua Tianshu also decided to jump in after Jie Fu Lian but was stopped by Sect Master Quan who quickly moved and somehow managed to pull the man back to safety.
"Jie Ming..." Hua Tianshu muttered out but nobody answered.
Sect Master Quan immediately pressed his fingers behind Hua Tianshu’s neck and knocked the man out, afraid that if he didn’t do so, Hua Tianshu would push him aside and jump into the abyss.
In a single moment, the curses and cries stopped and everything became too silent. Nobody had expected Jie Fu Lian to jump into the abyss.
"He has escaped!" Jin Gengxin shouted, believing that this was just a trick.
"Father, there’s no way brother Ming could have escaped," Jin Long sighed as he spoke up. Till now, he had stayed by his father’s side without saying anything, but now that Jie Fu Lian had jumped into the abyss, he stepped up and walked closer to the edge of the cliff as he leaned in and looked down before concluding, "Brother Ming could not have survived this fall."
"So he is really....?" Jin Gengxin gulped as he muttered out, not even daring to finish the question.
Jin Long sighed as he nodded his head and spoke, "Brother Ming... Is no more."
"Impossible...!" Xian Huan muttered out as he faltered a few steps back in fear and rejection.
He had also refused to believe Jie Fu Lian but now that Jie Fu Lian had died, Xian Huan couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of guilt engulfing his whole being.
"H-He can’t die like this..." The man that Jin Gengxin had brought as a witness spoke up in disbelief as tears started streaming down his cheeks, "He can’t just die like this! He killed my daughter! That monster killed my daughter! He needs to pay for his sins! How can it end this easily?!"
Some people from the crowd sympathized with him and were enraged at the fact that Jie Fu Lian had been killed this easily without ever paying for his sins. At the same time, there were also others who once knew Jie Fu Lian and couldn’t help but feel a sense of pity and guilt for what had happened.
The situation was a bit chaotic.
Jin Long, who was standing there, looking down at the abyss, could no longer hide the small smile that formed on his lips. With an unapologetic expression, he mouthed out the words ’I’m sorry’.
By the time Hua Meifang had reached the cliff, everything was already over. She looked around in search of Jie Fu Lian and tried to figure out what had happened. When she eventually found Sect Master Quan and Hua Tianshu, she was utterly confused to see her brother who was laying unconscious next to the man with Jie Fu Lian nowhere in sight.
"Sect Master, what happened?" she immediately questioned as she rushed over.
Sect Master Quan looked at her and instead of giving her an explanation, he questioned back, "Did you find anything?"
Hua Meifang pursed her lips and looked around, feeling a little wary as she spoke, "The letter was sent by someone who calls himself the master of curses. However, I do not think he is working alone."
As soon as the name was said, Jin Long immediately glanced over at them with a small frown.
By chance, Sect Master Quan managed to notice Jin Long’s quick reaction and spoke, "Don’t speak here. Tell me everything when we get back."
Hua Meifang nodded her head in understanding as she heard this, but unfortunately, she was never able to tell him. As soon as they reached the HuiXue sect, Hua Tianshu gained consciousness and as soon as he opened his eyes, he got ready to head out to the abyss in search of Jie Fu Lian.
On the way over, Hua Meifang had already heard the whole story from Sect Master Quan and since she knew that Jie Fu Lian was innocent, she felt extremely guilty for his death.
Sect Master Quan warned Hua Tianshu of the dangers that would befall on them if they were to enter the abyss, however, no matter what he said, his words were simply not enough to convince Hua Tianshu whose mind was already filled with thoughts of bringing Jie Fu Lian back.
Instead of trying to stop her brother, Hua Meifang only sighed as she decided to go along with him.
Sect Master Quan was uneasy with the decision that the two had decided to take but in the end, he sighed, not being able to stop them at all.
When they reached the mouth of the abyss, they were a bit surprised to see that they were not the only ones who had thought of trying to save Jie Fu Lian.
Yin Ru, Xian Huan, Xue Liang, Shi XuiYing, and Mo Yang were also there, getting ready to head in. They were all from the Yan Sect and it made sense that they would try to save Jie Fu Lian but as soon as Hua Tianshu saw them, he unhappily frowned as he asked, "What the hell are you doing here?"
Yin Ru, who had now been released from Jie Yang Zan’s control could understand where Hua Tianshu’s hostility was coming from and did not dare argue with him.
Xian Huan pursed his lips and looked at his senior martial sister Yin Ru, hoping that she would say something but when she lowered her head in guilt and gave no response, he decided to speak up.
"He was our brother. We only wanted to find the truth, we never wanted to see him die like this. If we simply move on, we’ll regret it forever."
Hua Tianshu scoffed at the man’s reply and rolled his eyes as he spoke, "You are not needed here. Go back to your Yan sect. If you regret it forever then that’s good. You should live with the guilt and suffer for the rest of your lives. That’s exactly what you deserve for betraying his trust."
Hua Meifang coughed as she slightly pulled her brother back and spoke, "Don’t be so rude to them. It’s good that they are here. The more people we have searching for Jie Fu Lian, the more chances there would be of us finding him quicker."
Hua Meifang’s words made sense but Hua Tianshu simply did not want to let these people join them.
"Daoist Hua, I understand your feelings," Yin Ru spoke up with a sigh as she sniffled back her tears, "We have done something unforgivable and just like you have said, we’ll carry this guilt and suffer for the rest of our lives. However, right now, it is more important to find Junior Brother Ming as soon as possible. If we waste time arguing here... We might not be able to find him anymore. You don’t have to understand us nor do you need to forgive us. However, for the time being, I hope we can work together and find him."
Hua Tianshu glared at the woman and ignored her as he went on ahead, entering the abyss. This action was an indirect way of saying that he agreed and although he refused to forgive them, he would still be letting them enter the abyss.
The mouth of the abyss was not as dangerous as the center of the abyss. In fact, as one got closer to the center of the abyss, accordingly, the dangers of this place increased.
After aimlessly walking around inside the abyss and clearing the outskirts of the abyss to make sure that Jie Fu Lian was not there, they approached the inner part of the abyss where they met another man who had come looking for Jie Fu Lian.
At first, Hua Tianshu did not recognize the man but then, he took a closer look at the man’s face and immediately exclaimed, "Bai YiJun...?!"
Bai YiJun was just as shocked as Hua Tianshu. He thought he was the only one who had come here in search of Jie Fu Lian’s soul.
"Your legs..." Hua Tianshu looked down with a frown as he pointed out.
Bai YiJun, who always pretended to be crazy and used a wheelchair because of his broken legs was now effortlessly standing on his own and looking back at Hua Tianshu as if there was nothing wrong with it.
"We do not have time to discuss his legs," Hua Meifang sighed as she spoke up, "We have a bigger problem."
"Huh?" Hua Tianshu’s eyes trailed down to what Bai YiJun was holding and he immediately felt his heart stop for a second. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
