The Demon King is an Idiot [BL]-Chapter 168: You are not alone
"Jie Ming, don’t look," Hua Tianshu once again sat in front of Jie Fu Lian, looking into his eyes as he spoke, "This is just a nightmare. It’s not real. You are not to blame. Shi XiuYing wasn’t even killed in a fire. He was killed inside the abyss. Jin Long killed him. It wasn’t you."
No matter how desperately Hua Tianshu tried to convince Jie Fu Lian, the latter could neither see him nor hear his voice.
The same nightmare repeated itself over again and as the four horrifying corpses moved closer to Jie Fu Lian, the boy covered his ears and ducked his head down as he repeated to himself over and over again, "It’s a dream. It’s all a dream. It’s all just a bad dream. I have to wake up. This is just a dream."
The loop was once again reset and Hua Tianshu was starting to feel a little helpless.
"Senior martial sister Yin, I’m sure it will work this time!" A young Jie Fu Lian enthusiastically spoke as he showed Yin Ru a kite that he had personally made.
Looking at the kite carefully, Yin Ru sighed as she spoke, Let’s see if it will fly."
"I’ll show you!~" Jie Fu Lian beamed as he attached a string to the kite and started running in the opposite direction of the wind.
Hua Tianshu held the kite and when Jie Fu Lian felt the string tightening and holding him back, he turned around in excitement, only to have that excitement turn into confusion.
"What is happening...?" Jie Fu Lian questioned as he looked at the kite that was floating in mid-air, not moving at all.
"A ghost...?" Xian Huan frowned as he spoke.
"Brother Ming, be careful," Xue Liang also added as he grew a little worried.
"Is someone there?" Jie Fu Lian slightly raised his voice as he hesitantly questioned.
Hua Tianshu had no idea that this plan would be so effective. Overjoyed by the reaction he got, Hua Tianshu used the kite to spell words into the air.
Jie Fu Lian’s eyebrows creased together and he looked to be extremely confused as he read the words and spoke, "It’s not your fault...?"
The kite moved up and down, as if nodding.
"What’s not my fault?" Jie Fu Lian tilted his head in confusion as he asked.
Hua Tianshu once again used the kite to respond to the boy.
"Everything...?" Jie Fu Lian only felt even more confused as he read this response. With a frown on his face, Jie Fu Lian questioned, "Who are you? Is this some sort of a joke?"
When Hua Tianshu heard this question, his eyes slightly widened in excitement as he immediately responded.
"I... Am... Hua Tianshu...?!"
Jie Fu Lian flinched as he finished reading the words spelled into the air.
"How can it be Hua Tianshu?" Yin Ru questioned, unhappily.
"How dare you try to trick me?" Jie Fu Lian also snapped, looking extremely pissed off at the ghost that was communicating with him, "Why would Hua Tianshu be here?! Stop lying! It’s not good to trick people like this!"
Hua Tianshu, "..."
"If you are really Hua Tianshu then show yourself!"
Hua Tianshu sighed as he wrote, "Jie Ming, it’s really me. This is a dream and I am here to wake you up."
"Liar!" Jie Fu Lian retorted.
"I am not lying."
Jie Fu Lian didn’t seem to be convinced.
Hua Tianshu sighed as he shook his head in disappointment and told himself that it didn’t matter.
"Just know that you are not to blame. None of it was your fault. You are innocent. This is all a dream. You are not alone."
When Jie Fu Lian read this, he couldn’t help but frown. It didn’t seem like the ghost had any ill intent towards him so his voice softened as he questioned, "What do you mean?"
"I am always by your side. You are not alone."
Jie Fu Lian opened his mouth to say something but before any words could leave his mouth, he heard the voice of his senior martial sister coming from behind him.
"Jie Fu Lian, you evil bastard!"
The frown on Jie Fu Lian’s face deepened as he heard these words and the surrounding that covered him also drastically changed.
The green lively forest that surrounded him turned into a burning forest that looked as if it belonged to hell.
"It’s all because of you!"
"I hate you!"
"You ungrateful demon!"
"It’s all because of you!"
The kite that had been used to communicate also turned into ashes when it mysteriously came into contact with the fire. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
Hua Tianshu quickly grabbed a handful of string that had yet to catch fire and made sure to keep it safe. Since he could not be burned, his body acted as a fire repellent that kept the string safe.
Hearing the hateful words of his martial sisters and brothers, Jie Fu Lian flinched as he hesitantly turned around, immediately stumbling back in horror and falling on his butt.
Yin Ru, with bloody tears running down her cheeks, looked at Jie Fu Lian with pure hatred as she shouted, "If only it hadn’t been for you! You made me like this!"
Xian Huan, who had a huge hole in his stomach that was constantly bleeding out, looked at Jie Fu Lian with empty eyes as he asked, "Brother Ming, why...? Why did you do this to us...?"
Xue Liang, with his eyes gouged out and his neck slit, reached out his hand to point at Jie Fu Lian as he spoke, "It’s because of you! It’s all because of you!"
Shi XiuYing, with a missing leg, was still covered in a fire that was slowly torturing him to death. He did not point at Jie Fu Lian nor did he blame the boy. The only thing he did was scream. His agonizing screams were so loud that it was enough to drive anyone insane.
They slowly moved closer to Jie Fu Lian and the boy, out of fear, started crawling back, trying to get as far away from them as possible.
"It wasn’t me... I didn’t do it... Please trust me... I’m innocent...!" Jie Fu Lian kept muttering out again and again, helplessly defending himself against these people that looked no better than ghosts. As he unconsciously started defending himself, he remembered what the kite had spelled out and couldn’t help but feel a little shocked.
It seemed like the ghost who controlled the kite was able to foresee this future...
As soon as this thought crossed Jie Fu Lian’s mind, he remembered the other things spelled out with the kite.
"I am always by your side. You are not alone..." Jie Fu Lian muttered repeating what the ghost had told him.
Suddenly, Jie Fu Lian felt an odd sensation on his little finger. When he looked down, he found one end of the kite string tied around his little finger while the other end was floating in mid-air, seeming to be tied around something invisible.
Jie Fu Lian’s eyes followed the string and his eyes slightly widened as he muttered out, "Hua Tianshu...?"
Hua Tianshu moved his little finger.
"It really is you...?" Jie Fu Lian raised his head to look at Hua Tianshu.
With a small warm smile, Hua Tianshu gently nodded his head as he spoke, "It’s me."
Tears started brimming in Jie Fu Lian’s eyes as he could finally see Hua Tianshu who had been invisible this whole time.
Hua Tianshu grabbed the boy’s cheeks and wiped his tears away as he spoke, "It’s okay. I am here. I’m always here. You don’t need to be afraid anymore."
"Jie Fu Lian, you are a demon!" Jie Yang Zan’s voice could be heard, but this time, Jie Fu Lian didn’t even turn his head to look at his father. "You are not my son! You are a demon!"
Jie Fu Lian tightly hugged Hua Tianshu and continued to uncontrollably cry as he whined, "I was so afraid. They were all blaming me. I didn’t even do anything. It was so lonely."
Hua Tianshu hugged the boy back and patted the back of his head as he comforted him, "It’s okay now. It’s all okay. You are safe. I won’t let anything hurt you."
"I was so scared!~"
The loop was immediately broken and Jie Fu Lian’s appearance changed back into his normal grown-up self.
It seemed as if Jie Fu Lian finally understood where he was and what had happened so he looked at Hua Tianshu with a worried expression as he questioned, "What are you doing here?"
Hua Tianshu smiled as he grabbed Jie Fu Lian’s cheeks and with tears welling up in his eyes, he spoke, "I was scared of losing you."
Jie Fu Lian couldn’t help but smile as he heard this and playfully asked, "Are friends supposed to be this worried about each other? I think you are overdoing it."
"I wasn’t worried as a friend."
"Eh?"
"Jie Ming, I know I’ve already said this once and you’ve already rejected me. You want us to continue being good friends but I do not think I’ll be able to do that. I tried to do it but I can’t. Jie Ming, I love you and I don’t think I’ll be able to get rid of this feeling."
"Huh...?"
