"I remembered something," Jie Fu Lian spoke, unconsciously frowning as he recalled the memory, "It was when I fell into the abyss."

Hua Tianshu’s eyebrows creased together as he heard this and he clenched his fist, knowing that he was not going to hear anything pleasant.

"At that time, my body was not fully under my control. I kept hearing whispers and curses that flooded my mind and drove me insane. It was only for a second but I saw it clearly. There was a rat..."

Jie Fu Lian didn’t know why he had never thought about it clearly. From the first place itself, it was clear that his death was no accident and as long as he knew, there was only one person who could communicate with rats and use them at will.

"That day inside the illusion dream," Jie Fu Lian continued as he pointed out, "Jin Long was the one who said it. He said he used rats to find the demon and entered the illusion dream. It was the first time I came to know that he had such an ability. He mostly kept this ability a secret and at first, I thought it was because he was embarrassed by it. However, now that I think again, I believe he didn’t keep it a secret because he was embarrassed. Rather, I think he did so because it was an ability that could only be used if the opponent didn’t know about it."

"Then... That day, he purposefully..." Hua Tianshu hesitantly spoke, unable to finish the question.

Jie Fu Lian gave a nod as he confirmed it, "He was the one who killed me."

Jie Fu Lian forced himself to smile as he looked at Hua Tianshu and spoke, "You were right, TianTian. I had trusted the wrong person. I was too blind to see the truth for what it was."

"I also know about the rats," Jin Shifeng gulped as she spoke, "I came to know by mistake but I don’t think the rats are that dangerous. As far as I know, they are only capable of spying on people. I don’t think they can be used to harm others."

Mo Xue shook his head with a sigh as he heard this and spoke, "If he really could control rats then spying isn’t the only thing he can do."

"Huh?"

"It depends on the relationship he has with those rats," Mo Xue explained as he spoke, "If he has a contract with them then it is quite possible that he could use them to attack others. In fact, if there is a contract then the rats would not be able to refuse his orders. If there is no contract in place then the rats would not follow his orders."

Jin Shifeng’s eyebrows creased together as she heard this, "Then does that mean he has a contract with them...?"

Mo Xue nodded his head, "He probably does have a contract with them but what we need to know is what type of contract it is."

"Huh?"

Jie Fu Lian, "It’s not a normal contract."

Mo Xue and Jin Shifeng turned their heads to look at Jie Fu Lian as they heard this.

"The rats were controlling my mind and that is not something they would normally be able to do," Jie Fu Lian explained, "If I’m guessing right then the contract between them lets the rat use the spiritual energy of its master."

"And if not... Then the rat is being used as a medium in order to reach you..." Mo Xue muttered, his eyes slowly widening in realization.

Jie Fu Lian nodded his head as he heard this and confirmed it as he spoke, "The rat was a vessel being completely controlled by Jin Long. The one who messed with my mind wasn’t the rat but Jin Long himself."

"But why did he use a rat?" Shen Chao slightly frowned as he questioned, "If he was going to do it directly, why did he use the rat as a medium?"

"The distance," Hua Tianshu muttered as he clenched his fist, "He was standing too far away and with that distance between them, he wouldn’t have been able to kill Jie Ming. He used the rat to shorten the distance. Mind control techniques work best when the target is within close proximity."

"He thoroughly planned it," Jie Fu Lian added as he nodded his head and agreed with Hua Tianshu.

"What a crazy bastard..." Mo Xue muttered in disbelief.

Jie Fu Lian forced himself to smile as he spoke, "And we are going to face that crazy bastard today so be careful. We must not underestimate him. If he uses those rats to control us, we’ll lose our only chance of defeating him."

"I won’t let that happen," Mo Xue firmly reassured with a frown.

"Those rats cannot be easily seen," Jie Fu Lian spoke as he informed, "They are good at digging and like to hide underground."

"Don’t worry, I’m the demonic beast king. They won’t be able to hide from me."

Jie Fu Lian nodded his head with a smile as he heard this, "That’s why I called you here. However, what I want you to do is first try and control the rats."

"Huh?"

"The rats are just a medium. They are like a door and a door can be opened by both sides. Jin Long can control us using those rats but it can also work the other way around."

Mo Xue slightly tilted his head in confusion as he heard this and asked, "Are you telling me to try and control Jin Long’s mind?"

"I’m telling you to scare him a little," Jie Fu Lian replied, "Make him tremble in fear. Make sure that he cannot keep a calm mind. If he figures out that the master of curses can be saved from the eternal hell tower, our plan might be ruined. In order to prevent that, we need to make sure that he isn’t fully sane. If you fail then just kill the rats."

Mo Xue gulped as he heard this and immediately nodded his head in understanding, "I’ll do as you say."

When Yu Wei heard this, she somewhat understood what Jie Fu Lian was planning to do and for a second there, she wondered if the prophecy was finally going to come true.

Was Jie Fu Lian really going to kill Jin Long...?

Jie Fu Lian took a deep breath in as he looked at everyone and spoke, "Let’s go in."

The group of seven people and four thousand puppets fearlessly entered the abyss.

Inside the abyss, it was hard for them to control their spiritual Qi. However, it didn’t pose any problem for Jie Fu Lian who could still use his demonic Qi.

Jie Fu Lian was still unable to completely control Shen Fang’s demonic Qi, but he had gotten a lot better and was already at a level where he could switch between his demonic form and human form pretty easily.

Hua Tianshu sighed in relief as he heard this and his lips unconsciously curled up in a small smile as he spoke, "This is the last time that I’m letting you put yourself in danger."

Jie Fu Lian chuckled as he heard this and nodded his head as he agreed, "That sounds good to me. Once we are done with this, let’s go and live a peaceful life away from all of this mess."

"I like the sound of that."

Suddenly, Jie Fu Lian stopped walking and looked straight ahead with a serious expression plastered on his face.

Worried by this reaction, Hua Tianshu asked, "What happened?"

"I found him."

Hua Tianshu’s eyebrows immediately creased together and his face stiffened as he heard this, "Jin Long?"

Jie Fu Lian shook his head as he spoke, "It’s the master of curses."

Hua Tianshu immediately looked around as he heard this, however, all he could see was the thick fog that surrounded them.

"He has a part of my soul."

When Hua Tianshu heard this, for a second there, his heart stopped in fear.

"What...?" He questioned in disbelief as he looked at Jie Fu Lian.

Jie Fu Lian didn’t know why but he suddenly had the urge to laugh as he wondered what was happening.

He was sure that the master of curses was near them since he could feel that man’s sinful energy. However, Changbo had also decided to act up and it didn’t take long for Jie Fu Lian to sense that something was wrong.

The current master of curses was holding a part of Jie Fu Lian’s soul that was believed to have been destroyed.
