Suddenly, they heard the sound of a man’s laughter surrounding them.
Jie Fu Lian tried to track the owner of the voice but failed.
"Are you the master of curses...?" Jie Fu Lian raised his voice as he questioned, almost seeming as if he was talking to thin air.
The person once again laughed, his laugh seeming almost sinister.
Jie Fu Lian secretly extended his palm out to Jin Shifeng who immediately understood what he wanted and gave him the eternal hell tower.
"Where is Jin Long?"
The person once again laughed, but this time, at the end of his laughter, was a question, "Is that really your first question? You seem to be awfully uninterested in me." 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
Jie Fu Lian smirked as he heard this and asked, "Does that bother you?"
"I would be lying if I said that it didn’t."
"You are right, I am not that interested in you. As long as I can catch Jin Long, you’ll be nothing more than a kite with a broken string. Without him, you are powerless."
The master of curses laughed as he heard this, sounding quite amused, "You seem to be under a misunderstanding."
"A misunderstanding?" Jie Fu Lian repeated, "What could that be?"
"I am not Jin Long’s kite and even without him, I’ll still be powerful."
"Don’t bluff," Jie Fu Lian scoffed as he replied, "I already know the relationship you have with Jin Long. I know why you support him and I also know how much you’ll want to protect him. Although you make his death sound so casual, in reality, I know how hard it would be for you to lose him."
For a few seconds there, the only response Jie Fu Lian got was a silence which almost proved his words to be true.
However, the silence was eventually broken by the master of curses who broke out laughing.
"The relationship between us?" The master of curses mocked as he spoke, "Immortal Jie Fu Lian, you really are naive. It’s a bit cute."
Hua Tianshu clenched his fist as he heard this.
"You don’t happen to think that we are lovers, do you?"
Jie Fu Lian gulped as he heard this question and for a second there, almost doubted what he had seen.
"We saw you," Hua Tianshu spoke up as he gritted his teeth, "If you weren’t lovers, how can your actions be justified?"
"Don’t get me wrong. It’s only natural that you thought we were lovers. Even Jin Long believes that to be the case," The master of curses spoke as he chuckled, "However, to me, he is nothing more than a tool. A really useful tool that is no longer needed."
Jie Fu Lian suddenly had a bad feeling about this and activated the eternal hell tower.
"Do you think you can capture me with that?"
Jie Fu Lian’s paused his actions.
"That’s nothing more than a toy that children play around with. You should know it the best since you have also played around with it when you were young, isn’t that right, immortal Jie Fu Lian?"
Jie Fu Lian gulped.
"What the hell are you trying to do right now? Where is Jin Long?" Jin Shifeng angrily questioned. This whole situation was extremely confusing for her. She had been sure that the master of curses would never be able to betray Jin Long, but it seemed like she had underestimated this man’s wickedness.
"Jin Long is patiently waiting for you," The master of curses spoke with a chuckle, "He is waiting to kill you just like how I told him to."
Jie Fu Lian gulped as he heard this and closed his eyes as he tried to sense where the master of curses was.
"Do you want me to tell you something fun?" The man asked, laughing as he spoke, "None of you are going to get out of here alive."
"Why are you doing all this?" Hua Tianshu asked, his voice extremely calm.
"Why? Do I need a reason?"
"There has to be a reason."
"It’s just for fun."
"For fun?" Hua Tianshu repeated with a small frown, "How is it fun?"
"It’s fun to change the future as I like," The master of curses laughed as he spoke, sounding like a true madman.
"So you are doing this because of the divination?"
"That’s right."
Jie Fu Lian smiled in disbelief as he heard this and asked as he guessed, "The divination wasn’t just about me killing Jin Long, was it? There has to be more to it than that."
Suddenly, there was no response from the master of curses and this only made Jie Fu Lian believe that he had guessed right.
"What are you really after? What was the future that you saw?" Jie Fu Lian questioned.
From out of nowhere, came a strong wind that aimed directly for Jie Fu Lian, and mixed with the wind was the sinister energy of the master of curses.
Jie Fu Lian barely managed to dodge as he stepped aside, and as the master of causes brushed past him, he heard the answer to his question.
"The demon king’s body."
Jie Fu Lian gulped as he immediately realized what the master of curses was really aiming for.
"Even if you kill me, you can’t possess this body," Jie Fu Lian pointed out, his eyebrows creasing together.
"If it were the demon king inside that body, I would not have been able to possess it, but since it is you, things have become much simpler."
Jie Fu Lian gritted his teeth as he heard this and held tightly onto the eternal hell tower as he waited for the right moment.
"There is a limit to how big you should dream," Jie Fu Lian taunted the man as he spoke.
Suddenly, there was another gush of sharp wind that aimed at Jie Fu Lian, but this time, Jie Fu Lian did not avoid it, instead, he waited till the wind was near enough in order to activate the eternal hell tower and capture the master of curses.
Surprisingly enough, he was successful and as soon as the master of curses entered the eternal hell tower, Hua Tianshu took out his sword and broke the eternal hell tower, destroying the only way of escape for the master of curses.
For a second, it was so silent that even the sound of their beating hearts could be heard.
In the end, Shen Chao was the first one to break the silence as he asked, "Is it over already?"
Jie Fu Lian gulped as he heard this question but did not give a response as he kept staring at the broken pieces of the eternal hell tower.
"The master of curses has been captured," Hua Tianshu spoke as he confirmed it, but nobody could rejoice.
It was simply too anticlimatic for them and they could hardly believe their eyes.
"He went in on his own," Jie Fu Lian spoke up as he revealed, "He didn’t resist it at all. It was as if he already knew what we were going to do and went along with it."
"Eh?" Shen Chao tilted his head in confusion as he heard this.
"Why would he do that?" Ren Lei questioned with a frown, "Wasn’t he after your body? Why would he give up that easily?"
Jie Fu Lian didn’t give a reply since he was also just as confused as the rest of him. He was sure that it shouldn’t have been this easy to catch the master of curses.
"He didn’t give up," Hua Tianshu spoke up with a frown, "He is definitely planning something."
"He has already been captured. What else could he be planning?" Shen Chao questioned.
"Jin Long," Jin Shifeng spoke up in disbelief, "He said Jin Long was waiting to kill us."
"He is going to wait," Mo Xue spoke with a scoff, "He is going to leave the dirty work to Jin Long and wait for the right moment to attack."
"But the eternal hell tower has already been destroyed. How can he come out without our help?" Ren Lei frowned as she asked.
"He said the eternal hell tower was merely a toy," Mo Xue pointed out as he spoke, "He sounded too confident. He must have already thought of a way out."
"He is going to use Jin Long against us," Jie Fu Lian shook his head with a sigh as he spoke.
"What do you mean?" Yu Wei questioned, tilting her head in confusion.
"Jin Long is going to think we captured the master of curses and he is going to try and save him."
"But without the master of curses, we can defeat Jin Long, can’t we?" Shen Chao asked.
Jie Fu Lian nodded his head as he spoke, "Under normal conditions, we should be able to defeat him, but I’m not sure. The master of curses seemed too confident."
"We are already here and the only way to go is forward," Hua Tianshu sighed as he spoke, "It doesn’t matter what waits for us ahead. All we can do right now is face it with courage."
Jie Fu Lian nodded his head as he agreed with the man.
