Chapter 191: You’re a madman

"He came to me and offered to pay me a few gold coins if I were to kill my father and hang him up in the butcher’s shop like a gutted pig," The master of curses laughed, finding the memory extremely funny as he narrated it, "Can you guess what I did?"

Nobody gave him a response.

With Jie Fu Lian suffering on the ground, it was only natural that he took up all the attention and made no one care about what the master of curses had to say.

"I killed my father and hung him up in his butcher’s shop like a gutted pig," The man laughed as he continued, unbothered by the uninterested group of spectators, "And then I went to that man and asked him to pay up but do you know what he did?"

The master of curses gritted his teeth as he spoke, "He laughed at my face and reported me for murder. I was fourteen at the time and when I came out of jail, I was twenty. I spent those six years in jail with a cultivator who told me about the great Dao and shared various stories of people who could fly on swords and see the future. I was intrigued by him and started dreaming of being one of those immortals that I had only ever heard about in stories and legends."

"That man ended up being murdered by another cellmate but with his death, one thing became clear to me. That he was killed because he was just a weak cultivator. Thanks to his death I realized a very important thing. I realized that power in this world was everything. Power was the true meaning of life. The more power you had, the more valuable your life was. If my father had power perhaps he wouldn’t have been killed by his own son and if I was stronger, perhaps I wouldn’t have had to spend six years in jail."

"Power?" Jie Fu Lian gritted out, his face twisted in pain as he forced himself to speak, "Don’t joke around. You’re not powerful. You are just a monster who killed your own father."

The master of curses ignored the man’s words and continued on with his story, "When I was released from prison, I went to find that man who had ordered me to kill my father and when I found him, I asked for the gold coins that he owed me. He once again laughed at my face and I made sure that it was the last time he would ever laugh at anyone. Just like a gutted pig, I hung him inside the butcher’s shop. He died the same he had ordered my father to be killed and that was when I first got the taste of true power."

"I felt as if I could do anything and get away with it," The master of curses laughed as he added, "After that, I ran away and chased after the great Dao and became a cultivator. However, it wasn’t enough. No matter what I did, it just did not satisfy my hunger for power. There came a time when I had almost given up on my ambitions, but that’s when I came to hear about Jie Fu Lian. He was a mediocre talent but one that was constantly being praised for the shocking things he managed to achieve with his mediocracy."

"I was inspired by him and wanted to follow in his footsteps. So I went to Jin Gengxin and asked him to send me into the eternal hell tower. I heard that it took Jie Fu Lian a whole year to come out but I was much better than him, It only took me two months to come out, and that impressed Jin Gengxin who immediately wanted to make me join the Jin Sect. I did not see any profit in joining his sect, however, I did not see a loss in doing so either so I listened to him and agreed under my own conditions."

"I joined the Jin Sect under the condition that I would help the sect in secret and be hidden from the rest of the world. Jin Gengxin agreed to my demands and provided me with many resources that helped me improve. Thanks to him, I was able to divine the future and used that skill many times to help him. In the process, I gained his trust as well."

"One day, I divined a future in which I was the strongest man to walk this martial world. It was a prophecy that had to come true and in order for it to happen, Jin Long needed to kill you. However, that dumb man idolized you. He treated you like a brother and would never dare to even think about hurting you. I knew I had to do something so I gave him a little push. I gave him a choice and that idiot blindly believed me."

"You’re a madman," Ren Lei gritted out as she glared at the man.

"Now, it would be wrong of you to blame everything on me," The master of curses spoke as he defended himself, "If Jin Long was a good person, he would’ve chosen to believe Jie Fu Lian and he wouldn’t have been swayed by my words. In the end, he was the one who trusted me."

"You made him trust you!" Duan Luoyang gritted out as he spoke, "You were manipulating him!"

"Well, it’s not my fault that he was such an easy man," The master of curses chuckled as he spoke.

Ren Lei, "You are sick in the head!"

"You think everything played out according to how you planned?" Jie Fu Lian scoffed as he struggled to push himself up from the ground, "Stop kidding yourself!"

The master of curses looked to be amused as he heard this and squeezed Jie Fu Lian’s soul even tighter as he spoke, "It has all worked out just perfectly. I told you, didn’t I? I have you right here in the palm of my hand."

Jie Fu Lian coughed out a mouthful of blood and once again fell to the floor, unable to control the way his body reacted to the intense pain that made him feel as if he was slowly being tortured to death.

"It should be quite painful," The master of curses chuckled as he spoke, "Don’t try to fight it or you’ll become even more miserable."

Jie Fu Lian refused to admit defeat and once again tried to push himself up as he ignored the pain.

"You... Are never going to win!" Jie Fu Lian gritted out as he glared at the man, "Even if you manage to get rid of me, this body would never be yours!"

"It’s so adorable that you still think you can win," The master of curses openly mocked him.

"It doesn’t matter even if I die," Jie Fu Lian spoke, spitting out blood along with his words, "Even if I die, I’ll make sure to take you along with me."

This time, it seemed like his words had managed to intimidate the man a little.

Hua Tianshu grabbed onto Jie Fu Lian’s hand and frowned, extremely unhappy with the choice that Jie Fu Lian was taking.

"What can you even do?" The master of curses glared back at Jie Fu Lian as he questioned, "You have already died once. A ghost like you doesn’t deserve to be in the realm of the living."

"I could say the same about you," Jie Fu Lian retorted with a short chuckle that sounded more like a fit of coughs, "A ruthless monster like you does not deserve to be alive."

As soon as he was done speaking, Jie Fu Lian once again summoned the fiends that he had struggled to send away.

This time, the fiends looked to be even more intimidating since one could already tell that Jie Fu Lian had very weak control over them.

"Kill him," Jie Fu Lian ordered as he pointed at the master of curses.

The fiends turned to look at the master of curses and slowly made their way toward him, blocking him from all sides.

"Don’t push yourself too hard," The master of curses gritted out as he glared at Jie Fu Lian, "That body is going to be mine soon so take care of it."

After having said so, the master of curses fought off the fiends without even having to move.

Shen Chao took a sharp breath in as he looked at the situation and felt that things were getting extremely dangerous.

At this point, it didn’t matter whether the fiends were able to beat him or not. Regardless of the outcome, one thing was sure and it was the fact that none of them were safe and might not even make it out alive.

Shen Chao bit into his finger and took out a small pocket knife. He rubbed his blood on the knife and chanted something under his breath.

The knife started shaking a little and a few drops of cold sweat formed on Shen Chao’s forehead as he tightly held onto the knife and kept chanting.
