"How come Jin Long married someone from the Yu Sect?" Jie Fu Lian sent another voice transmission as he asked, "Isn’t the Yu Sect infamous for keeping their female disciples away from the relations of the martial world. I’ve never heard of one getting married outside of their sect."

"..." Hua Tianshu was silent for a minute and suddenly, his feet also stopped walking.

"Eh?" The little wolf cub raised its head and innocently stared at its master.

There was a long pause before Hua Tianshu spoke up, "Jie Ming... I think we’ll need to pay a visit to the Yu sect."

The wolf cub tilted his head in confusion as he stared up at its master.

"Bai BaoShi might have been from the Yu Sect."

"Eh?!" Jie Fu Lian’s eyes widened and the wolf cub looked even more adorable when shocked. "Why would you think that?"

"Bai Guanyu had been possessed by a demon. The possessed demon married a woman of unknown status who was known to be beautiful. His motive for doing so was simple. He needed the life energy of a human to keep up his disguise but if the demon was strong, the life energy of a normal human would not be enough for him. Jie Fu Lian felt that this man was either a genius or overspeculating things and creating connections that never existed. In both cases, Jie Fu Lian was quite impressed by the man’s creative imagination.

"Actually, nobody has been able to understand why Jin Shifeng suddenly decided to marry Jin Long," Hua Tianshu added as he informed, "It was definitely not out of love. He suddenly hears the voice of a woman and as a man with a good heart, he immediately decides to go and investigate where the voice is coming from. Inside a cave, he sees a beautiful woman suffering from Qi deviation, and at a critical moment, he helps her and saves her life. In turn, the woman vows to make him her husband so that the two can spend the rest of their lives together, protecting, caring for, and loving each other.

However, after hearing Hua Tianshu’s words, the picture of the beautiful love story in Jie Fu Lian’s mind was shredded to pieces.

If it wasn’t a love marriage, it surely was suspicious.

"The Jin sect investigated the Bai LiuXian murder case. The head of that investigation was Jin Long."

Jie Fu Lian felt as if his mind had gone blank.

He hoped that he had heard that wrong. He prayed that Hua Tianshu had sent the wrong voice transmission.

The wolf cub shivered a little and Hua Tianshu felt a little pity for the creature.

"Hua Tianshu, stop lying. There is no way Jin Long would head that investigation. If he did, he wouldn’t have closed it by... making me the perpetrator."

The last few words were not any louder than a whisper.

Hua Tianshu sighed as he replied, "It was him. There were witnesses and there was proof that the art of controlling spirits had been used to assist the murder. Since there was ample proof and supporting evidence, he closed the case."

Jie Fu Lian felt his heart ache. It was as if he had been betrayed by his own family. He couldn’t put his thoughts together, couldn’t control his emotions, and couldn’t make sense of the situation.

The Jin Long in his memories was dumb and acted on impulses. He was impatient and very emotional, but Jie Fu Lian had trusted him a lot. Although he never showed it, he still considered Jin Long as a brother whom he cared for.

"Um... Hua Tianshu... Are you suspecting him...?" Jie Fu Lian hesitantly asked as he sent another voice transmission.

Before Hua Tianshu could reply, they had already reached the door of the guest room and Jin Long happily smiled at them as he innocently spoke, "I hope your stay here is comfortable. The Wolf cub suddenly felt the urge to punch the man.

He was the head of the investigation and there was ample evidence, but how could that be an excuse for convicting his friend of a murder that he never even committed?!

His actions could not be justified no matter what and Jie Fu Lian felt that even a punch was too light of a punishment for the man.

Another voice transmission came from Hua Tianshu, "You’re right. I am suspecting him. Jie Ming, there is a chance that the entire case was misdirected by him."

"You may leave now," Hua Tianshu replied to Jin Long as he slightly nodded his head.

Jin Long didn’t get to hear a ’thank you’ but although he was a bit thrown off by Hua Tianshu’s rude response, he still maintained his composure and kept a smile on his face as he turned and walked away.

"Shizun, I thought you were friends," Duan Luoyang spoke up with a small frown, "But it seems like you hate him."

"Hate is too strong of a word," Hua Tianshu sighed as he pushed the door open and replied, "I don’t want to waste my emotions and thoughts on scum like him."

"..." For some reason, Jie Fu Lian suddenly wondered if eight years back, this was what Hua Tianshu thought of him as well.

Hua Tianshu entered the room and immediately sat cross-legged on the bed before turning to look at the wolf cub. He patted his thigh and gestured for the wolf cub to come over.

The three were alone; hence, there was no longer a need for Jie Fu Lian to pretend. However, he still hopped onto Hua Tianshu’s lap with great delight.

Duan Luoyang’s cheeks flushed red and he cleared his throat as he stuttered, "In that case, I-I’ll take the other room. You two can enjoy."

"Your disciple is quite weird," Jie Fu Lian commented once the door was closed and Duan Luoyang had left.

"At least, he’s smart."

"Huh?"

Hua Tianshu didn’t explain. He quietly held onto the wolf cub with one hand while his other hand lovingly stroked the wolf cub’s furry head.

"Hua Tianshu, be honest with me. You really like furry animals, don’t you?"

"Not particularly."

"Then why do you keep touching me?" Jie Fu Lian asked with a pout and the pouting wolf looked cuter.

"You didn’t complain when Jin Shifeng did it. On the contrary, you looked to be enjoying yourself," Hua Tianshu sharply commented, "You pretended to be a real wolf cub and took advantage of her kindness, don’t you think? How do you think she would feel if she knew that you are actually a man and that too, the demon king?"

The wolf cub growled, "I was only joking a little. Why are you being so serious."

Hua Tianshu smiled but his smile clearly didn’t reach his eyes, "I’m being serious? What do you mean? I’m also joking. Since you’re my pet, I might as well take the chance to give you a few pats and treats."

Jie Fu Lian suddenly felt a shiver run down his back and gulped as he hesitantly spoke, "I’ll just turn back into a human now."

"You might get caught if you transform. At least steal what we came here to steal before you get yourself in trouble."

"..." This employer sounded reasonable but Jie Fu Lian’s gut feeling told him that this man was only teasing him.

"Did you enjoy kissing her?"

"Hua Tianshu! How can you say that?? When did I kiss her?!" Jie Fu Lian defended himself, his cheeks flushing red.

Hua Tianshu pouted as he looked at the wolf cub and innocently blinked, "I saw you licking her. It wasn’t even once or twice. You looked like you were really enjoying yourself. Do animals not lick each other to show affection. It’s a form of kissing, am I wrong?"

The little wolf cub puffed up his cheeks and stuck out its little tongue before stretching his body upwards and licking Hua Tianshu’s face a few times before he asked, "Then this must also count, right? Are you now going to complain about being kissed by me? Hmm?"
