"Stop laughing."

Hua Tianshu ignored the wolf cub and continued to tease him.

"I said, stop laughing."

Hua Tianshu once again ignored and continued laughing.

Jie Fu Lian closed his eyes and tried to control his temper but his paws were already trembling in anger and in the end, he could no longer hold it in.

The wolf cub suddenly turned into a man and the man threw himself at Hua Tianshu, pinning the other down on the bed as he repeated his words, "Stop laughing at me."

This time, Hua Tianshu listened to him and stopped laughing.

"Why?" Hua Tianshu titled his head as he asked with a teasing smile, "If I don’t, are you going to kiss me again?"

Jie Fu Lian didn’t hate the idea but he wasn’t one to be that inappropriate towards a man like Hua Tianshu... Of course, he conveniently forgot about the fact that he had previously tried to take advantage of the man as the demon king when Hua Tianshu suddenly showed up in the demon realm.

"Didn’t I tell you not to change back? What would you do if we’re caught?"

Jie Fu Lian sighed as he spoke, "I’m Shen Fang. The one and only ruler of the demon realm. Who in the world has the guts to catch me?"

Hua Tianshu couldn’t refute that and hence, all he did was smile as he looked up at Jie Fu Lian’s face that was only a few inches away from his own. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

Although Hua Tianshu had already stopped laughing, it didn’t look like Jie Fu Lian had any plan on moving.

The two stayed there, in the same position for over a minute without saying anything to each other.

In the end, Hua Tianshu felt as if this situation could get a bit dangerous if left as is and hence, he decided to speak up first, "Jie Ming, I understand your feelings but I’m afraid the door is unlocked. If someone comes inside, they might misunderstand the situation. Why don’t you get up first?"

"..." Jie Fu Lian gulped as he snapped out of his thoughts and only now did he realize the position that they were in. He immediately coughed as he sat up straight and pulled Hua Tianshu up as well.

"I never knew you were so proactive in bed," Hua Tianshu chuckled. In his mind, he couldn’t help but feel relieved that Jie Fu Lian had possessed the body of the demon king. If it had been the original Jie Fu Lian’s face staring at him, he wouldn’t have been able to say anything decent, much less tease the man.

Jie Fu Lian turned himself back into a wolf.

"Eh? Why did you turn back? Did I tease you too much?"

The little wolf cub glared at the man and quietly walked to the other side of the room, showing that he was mad at Hua Tianshu and was no longer talking to the man.

"Are you angry?" Hua Tianshu asked and the wolf cub responded only by curling its tail around its body and laying down to sleep.

"..." Hua Tianshu had never coaxed a person before nor had he coaxed an animal so it was only natural that he did not know what to do or say next.

When the wolf cub closed his eyes and fell asleep, Hua Tianshu could do nothing but stare at it, feeling a little amused by the sight. He wanted to reflect on his actions a little but sadly enough, he felt no regrets. Teasing Jie Fu Lian was truly fun and since the little wolf cub had been naughty and jumped at another woman, he felt as if his punishment was suitable for the little troublemaker.

Although Jie Fu Lian had turned back into a wolf and walked away, acting as if he were mad at Hua Tianshu, in reality, he was panicking over his own racing heart.

He shouldn’t have pinned Hua Tianshu down on the bed. That was really a line he shouldn’t have crossed, but now that he had crossed it, he couldn’t help but feel as if he had committed a sin.

The picture of Hua Tianshu lying under him with a soft seducing smile was still clearly carved into his mind.

He had never noticed it before but Hua Tianshu had a really handsome face.

No, he had always known Hua Tianshu was handsome, but he always felt as if the man’s beauty was akin to that of an untainted immortal that cared about neither hell nor heaven. However, the moment he pinned him down on the bed, the man’s face seemed to have changed. He no longer looked so unattainable.

Seeing him like that reminded Jie Fu Lian of Fan GuiYing.

Hua Tianshu and Fan GuiYing already looked alike in the eyes of Jie Fu Lian but he was always able to distinguish between the two because of the softness that could be felt in the demeanor of Fan GuiYing.

Fan GuiYing also looked like an unearthly immortal that cared about neither hell nor heaven, but that unattainable demeanor of his wasn’t what caught Jie Fu Lian’s eyes. It was the soft expression the man had whenever he looked at Fan Xue. His love for the man could be seen on his face and that was exactly what was the most attractive about him.

Jie Fu Lian could have never imagined the same theory being applied to Hua Tianshu. Since he knew the man, he always considered him a heartless jerk. He thought the man wasn’t capable of making such a soft expression even when facing the one he liked.

However, it seemed that Jie Fu Lian had seen something that he could have never imagined.

For a minute there, Hua Tianshu had the same look on his face as Fan GuiYing. It was the look of a man who was helplessly in love.

Jie Fu Lian couldn’t believe it and he dare not presume that the man liked him. That was something impossible...

In the end, he could only curse at himself for imagining things and dismiss the mere thought.

He pretended to sleep for an hour or so and when the atmosphere had calmed down a bit, the little wolf cub opened his right eye and peaked at Hua Tianshu curiously.

Surprisingly enough, Hua Tianshu was sitting on the bed and looking at the little wolf cub.

The little wolf cub, who was caught red-handed, couldn’t even close his eyes and pretend to sleep again so he simply stared back at the man with a blank expression.

Hua Tianshu’s lips curled up in a small smile as he spoke up, "Your mood seems to have improved."

The little wolf cub did not bother giving a response to that.

"I thought you’d still be worried about what I had said."

This time, the little wolf cub tilted its head in confusion, as if asking ’What do you mean?’

Hua Tianshu, who had suddenly turned into an animal expert, immediately understood Jie Fu Lian’s thoughts and added, "Jin Long and Jin Shifeng."

When Jie Fu Lian heard the two names, he couldn’t help but feel his mood worsen once again. After Hua Tianshu’s teasing, he had almost forgotten about Jin Long but now that he heard the man’s name again, he couldn’t help but feel a little annoyed.

"Hua Tianshu, I know what you are worried about, but it doesn’t matter. I won’t let my personal feelings get in the way of the investigation. If he is suspicious then he must be investigated. Even if it is Jin Long, my thoughts wouldn’t change and my actions wouldn’t waver."

"You’re misunderstanding me," Hua Tianshu let out a small sigh as he shook his head, "I’m not worried about your personal feelings getting in way of the investigation. I am worried about you."

"In the first place itself, you’re the reason why I’m here. I don’t want to see you getting hurt, be it physically or emotionally. No matter what we find out at the end of this investigation, I want you to remember that it is a matter of the past. Even if you can’t forget or forgive, I wish you wouldn’t let it affect the current you."

Jie Fu Lian gulped as he heard this and when he looked back to meet Hua Tianshu’s eyes, he couldn’t help but feel his heart skip a beat.

It felt as if Hua Tianshu genuinely cared for him... And he kinda liked that feeling.

Once again, he wondered if he was just imagining things.

The Hua Tianshu that he had once known had changed a lot...

The selfish jerk who insulted people now knew how to worry about someone... And that someone just happened to be Jie Fu Lian, his enemy.

"Hua Tianshu, do you remember the second time we met?"

Hua Tianshu blinked as he heard this question and slightly tilted his head as he asked, "What about it?"

"You were a real jerk back then."

"..."

"But I still saved you," Jie Fu Lian sighed as he asked, "Do you know why?"

"Why?"

"Because it was you."

Hua Tianshu’s eyes widened a little and even if it was just for a second, he felt a little hopeful as he looked at Jie Fu Lian.
