They arrived in front of the room that Hua Tianshu was in and Jie Fu Lian immediately felt a sense of anticipation in his heart.

Hua Meifang knocked on the door twice as she announced first before entering, "Brother, I’ve bought you a gift."

The girl pushed the door open and when Jie Fu Lian looked inside, he immediately met the eyes of the man that had been haunting his dreams for the past three years.

It was Hua Tianshu. There was no doubt about it.

Hua Tianshu frowned as he looked straight at Jie Fu Lian but it didn’t look like he recognized him.

With his head completely covered, it was only natural that the man failed to recognize him.

"Who is thi-" He didn’t complete the question and his eyes suddenly narrowed down on Jie Fu Lian as if he was suspecting something.

Jie Fu Lian cleared his throat as he got ready to introduce himself. It had been three years since they had last met and Jie Fu Lian’s entire face was covered so it was only polite for him to introduce himself first.

However, before any words could leave his mouth, Hua Tianshu had already spoken up first, "Jie Ming?"

"..."

It was shocking that he had recognized him but what was more shocking was the fact that he called him directly by his birth name.

They weren’t even close. Wasn’t this considered pretty rude?

"Aren’t you happy?" Hua Meifang smirked as she asked but Hua Tianshu completely ignored her existence and kept his eyes on Jie Fu Lian as he asked, "What are you doing here?"

"I came to save you," Jie Fu Lian proudly replied.

"But he fell for the demon’s trap and now, he’s also trapped here with us," Hua Meifang chuckled as she added.

Jie Fu Lian couldn’t help but feel a little embarrassed. Thankfully his face was covered or else, he was afraid the other two would have noticed his flushed cheeks.

"Does anyone know that you’re here?" Somehow, the questions he asked were the same ones that had been asked by his sister.

"Nobody," Jie Fu Lian replied with a sigh, "But don’t worry, I’ll get us out of here."

Hua Tianshu and Hua Meifang, both looked at Jie Fu Lian in disbelief.

Jie Fu Lian coughed as he spoke, "Just trust me."

"You came here to save us but you ended up in the same situation as us. Do you really expect us to trust you?" Hua Meifang scoffed and Jie Fu Lian couldn’t really defend himself.

Hua Tianshu didn’t say anything. He simply sighed and shook his head in disappointment and for some reason, that reaction offended Jie Fu Lian a lot more than Hua Meifang’s words.

As expected, this bastard Hua Tianshu hadn’t changed in the slightest!

He was still arrogant and conceited!

Really hateful and unsightly.

"I was cultivating in seclusion for the last three years," Jie Fu Lian suddenly added.

"I was informed," Hua Meifang muttered as she rolled her eyes. She had been reminded of it time and time again by her dearest brother who felt super lonely for those three years, but she naturally didn’t bother mentioning that part.

"I might not have been considered as powerful as Hua Tianshu back then but now, I clearly have a higher cultivation realm," Jie Fu Lian proudly declared.

Hua Meifang looked a bit stunned as she heard this and sneered, "Do you have to declare your achievements like that? Are you trying to show off?"

The moment Jie Fu Lian heard the word ’show-off’, he felt as if his ego had been stabbed once again.

He was already at the half-step stage of the sage realm... Was he still considered a show-off without a supporting bone...?!

Like hell he was!

These Hua siblings really had a way of pissing people off!

"What I’m trying to say is that I’m stronger than both of you," Even Jie Fu Lian felt a little embarrassed to say things like this. It felt so cringy that he wanted to bury himself on the spot. "So just find the demon and leave him to me. As the strongest one amongst us, I’ll personally kill the demon."

The two Hua siblings looked at the man as if they were looking at a madman and Jie Fu Lian immediately lost all of the confidence that he had gathered to say those few conceited lines.

"Daoist Fu... I don’t mean to offend you but you should really fix your manners," Hua Meifang politely pointed out.

"..." Jie Fu Lian wanted to disappear.

"Even if we find the demon, why would we let you kill it? Isn’t that like asking us to do the hard work while you reap the benefits?" Hua Meifang added with a scoff.

Jie Fu Lian didn’t want to admit it but Hua Meifang’s words were pretty accurate.

At this moment, finding the demon appeared to be a lot harder than killing it. Jie Fu Lian had been walking around in search of any demonic energy but so far, he had found nothing.

The only abnormality he found in these nine days was the little white cat that suddenly latched itself onto him.

Jie Fu Lian suddenly cleared his throat with an awkward cough as he spoke, "In any case, we must first work together. Only then can we get out of here."

Hua Meifang pursed her lips into a thin line as she glanced at her brother.

As soon as she saw the look on Hua Tianshu’s face, she couldn’t help but frown in disgust. Her brother had really lost his mind.

She knew the unbelievable extent of her brother’s obsession with Jie Fu Lian but seeing such a stupid expression on her talkative brother’s face was still too much for her to get used to.

Silently, she rolled her eyes as she looked away.

"I agree," Hua Tianshu mustered up his courage to utter just two simple words.

Jie Fu Lian couldn’t help but mentally judge the man.

’As expected. Hua Tianshu, you haven’t changed a bit. Still the same annoying tight-lipped bastard.’

Jie Fu Lian opened his mouth to say something but was suddenly interrupted by another person who knocked on the door in a hurry and spoke, "Senior Martial Brother, we’ve caught two suspicious people and have yet to identify them."

The three people inside the room looked at each other and they seemed to have a sudden understanding between them.

Hua Meifang opened the door and let the HuiXue disciple come in as she asked, "Where are they?"

"They are currently being held in the main hall." As the disciple said this, his eyes trailed over to Jie Fu Lian and he got a scare of a lifetime.

"I’m not a ghost," Jie Fu Lian coughed as he felt the need to explain himself.

Hua Tianshu and Hua Meifang had already left the room as soon as they heard the word ’main hall’, unintentionally leaving the HuiXue disciple alone with Jie Fu Lian.

The disciple looked at Jie Fu Lian from head to toe and blinked before asking, "W-why are you dressed like that?"

Jie Fu Lian wondered if everybody in the HuiXue sect had lost common sense. It was clear that they would be trapped here for quite some time so how could they not do anything to protect themselves from inhaling corpse powder?!

Jie Fu Lian felt as if he was the only one around who still had common sense.

"If I don’t do this, I’ll end up inhaling corpse powder. Unlike you, I have no intention of becoming a corpse puppet," Jie Fu Lian sighed as he replied.

The disciple scratched his chin as if he was thinking about it deeply before he asked, "But you can just block out the corpse powder by covering yourself with spiritual Qi."

Of course, that was a method that most people would choose due to the convenience and efficiency, however, Jie Fu Lian was a bit over-smart.

"If I do that, wouldn’t I be depleting my spiritual energy?" Jie Fu Lian confidently asked.

"It’ll take you at least a hundred years to deplete your spiritual energy through that method... Are you planning on staying here for a hundred years?"

Now, that was something that Jie Fu Lian had yet to consider, however, he was too proud to admit it.

With a cough, he walked out of the room as he replied, "Nobody knows what the future holds."

The HuiXue sect disciple only scratched the back of his head in confusion without saying anything further.

When Jie Fu Lian walked toward the main hall, he didn’t expect to see anyone he would recognize. At most, it was either the demon or somebody who had fallen prey to the demon’s trap.

However, as soon as Jie Fu Lian saw the two people that were captured and made to kneel in the main hall, he couldn’t help but recognize them.

"Jin Long? Tail?" He called out to the two and the two raised their heads to look at the owner of the familiar voice.

Jin Long’s eyes widened in shock as he saw Jie Fu Lian’s face that was covered in bandages and Tail seemed to be the only one so far who had recognized him in a heartbeat.

"Young Master!" Tail cried out and tears started streaming down his eyes as if he had seen his savior.
