"Who are you and how do you know Jie Ming?" Hua Tianshu questioned, his voice sounding extremely strict.

"I’m the demon king’s subordinate and honestly, I have no personal interest in your Jie Ming."

"Then why did you create this place? Why are you playing with us like this?!" Hua Tianshu angrily shouted.

"Boy, I’m just following orders. It’s nothing personal."

"Following orders? Did the demon king order you to kill Junior brother Zhang?"

The demon laughed, "That was completely me."

"Why?"

"I was annoyed and I don’t like to be annoyed."

Hua Tianshu gritted his teeth as he heard this answer, but tried his best to remain calm.

Only the calm can win a fight...

The moment he let his emotions get the best of him, he would lose.

He closed his eyes and took a deep breath in as he tried to sense any demonic presence that could be around him.

"Are you trying to find me?" The demon laughed and this time, Hua Tianshu was able to pinpoint the direction where the voice was coming from. "Hua Tianshu, just give up. You won’t find me-"

The demon’s words were cut short as Hua Tianshu’s sword cut through the barrier that hid the demon away from Hua Tianshu’s eyes.

The demon wasn’t hiding anywhere too far. He was always there in front of Hua Tianshu but there was a barrier covering him and the barrier made him invisible to the ordinary eye.

Hua Tianshu smirked as he looked at the demon.

This time, it was surely not an illusion.

The demon caught the blade of the sword with his two fingers and smiled as he looked back at Hua Tianshu.

"Young man, I’m impressed~" The demon commented

The sword started shaking, trying its best to free itself from the demon’s hold.

"Where is the demon king?" Hua Tianshu questioned as he glared at the demon.

"Why would I tell you?" The demon smirked as he tilted his head and teasingly asked.

Suddenly, the sword stopped shaking and the demon felt as if something was wrong.

The demon’s eyes went wide open in shock and confusion as he felt his demonic Qi being sucked away by the sword.

He quickly tried to let go of the sword but the moment his fingers around the sword’s blade loosened, the sword penetrated his chest and continued to suck all his demonic Qi.

The demon looked at Hua Tianshu with an expression of betrayal.

"Where is the demon king?" Hua Tianshu questioned once again.

"Do you think you won?" The demon asked back as he grabbed the sword and tried to pull it out.

"Your time is almost up," Hua Tianshu commented with a sigh, "Once all your demonic Qi is sucked inside the sword, you’ll die."

The demon’s lips twitched as he heard this and he looked down at the sword with an indecipherable expression. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"You really are a fool," The demon muttered but Hua Tianshu didn’t manage to hear him.

Although Hua Tianshu was trying to act as if he had the upper hand, in reality, he was also suffering.

This sword was forged by Jie Fu Lian to gather spiritual energy from its surroundings but now Hua Tianshu was using it to suck out demonic Qi.

It was working but of course, there were side effects and as the master of the sword, Hua Tianshu was the one who was currently enduring the side effects.

All the demonic Qi sucked into the sword was being absorbed into Hua Tianshu’s body and although he tried to fight it with his spiritual Qi, it wasn’t working very well.

However, he didn’t let it show on his face. If he could endure just a bit longer then he would win against this demon. Even if his insides were currently being ripped apart by the demonic Qi, he needed to endure.

Suddenly, Hua Tianshu felt a strong familiar presence coming at him from the side, and just as he turned his head, a claw pierced his stomach and went right through his body.

Hua Tianshu looked at the man who had caught him off guard and his mind went blank.

It was Jie Fu Lian...

Hua Tianshu looked down at his bleeding stomach which now had a hole in it.

When he lifted his head, Jie Fu Lian wrapped his hand around Hua Tianshu’s throat and pinned him to a wall, slowly choking the life out of him.

Hua Tianshu didn’t retaliate. He simply looked at the man in shock.

When Hua Tianshu was about to pass out, Jie Fu Lian carelessly threw him aside and Hua Tianshu’s back crashed against a building, breaking the building with the impact.

He coughed out a mouthful of blood and gasped for air as he grabbed his stomach.

For the first time in his life, Hua Tianshu felt as if he was on the brink of death, but he was still not afraid of it.

Jie Fu Lian walked over to the man and kicked him. He punched him a few times before wrapping his hand around the man’s neck, choking him again. His other hand reached out to rip out Hua Tianshu’s heart from his chest.

"Hua Tianshu, you really are a fool," The demon who was now free due to Jie Fu Lian’s interference commented with a sigh, "The real enemy is the one in front of you. How could you not have seen it?"

Hua Tianshu couldn’t even hear what the demon was saying. He was completely focused on Jie Fu Lian.

As Jie Fu Lian’s claw touched Hua Tianshu’s chest, the man closed his eyes as he felt pain emitting not from the physical injury but from the heart that was in despair.

Tears started uncontrollably flowing out of his eyes and when Jie Fu Lian saw this, he finally stopped.

His hand around the man’s neck loosened and his other hand which was about to rip out Hua Tianshu’s heart paused as it barely touched the man’s skin.

He looked at the crying Hua Tianshu and tears started flowing out of his own eyes as well.

"Impossible...!" The demon who had been controlling Jie Fu Lian till now muttered as he faltered a few steps back in shock and fear.

It should’ve been impossible for Jie Fu Lian to come to his senses...

The claw hadn’t disappeared and his eyes were still red so there was no doubt that he was still under the control of the demon, however, he was refusing to follow instructions.

"Jie Fu Lian! Kill him!" The demon shouted in anger as he anxiously looked at Jie Fu Lian.

When Hua Tianshu opened his eyes, he saw Jie Fu Lian looking back at him with tears trailing down his eyes.

"Jie Ming..." Hua Tianshu gathered up all the energy he had left to whisper, "You promised me."

Although Jie Fu Lian was partially free from the demon’s control, he was still unable to respond.

"You promised not to kill me."

Jie Fu Lian completely let go of the man’s neck as he heard this and stumbled back in fear.

Hua Tianshu coughed, feeling his vision suddenly go dark. He had lost too much blood and his injuries this time weren’t minor.

As he lost consciousness, he felt that perhaps this was really the end for him.

However, he didn’t hate it. To be killed by Jie Fu Lian was perhaps both the best and the worst ending he could ever hope for.

"Jie Fu Lian! Listen to me! Kill him now!" The demon frantically ordered out and Jie Fu Lian turned his head to look at the demon that was controlling him.

"Kill...?" Jie Fu Lian muttered in confusion.

The demon gulped as he took a few steps back in fear.

"I have to kill?" Jie Fu Lian tilted his head as he stood up and slowly approached the demon.

"D-Don’t come any closer!" The demon stuttered out in fear as he took another step back.

"Of course, I have to kill." Jie Fu Lian glared at the demon and the demon who finally understood Jie Fu Lian’s intention didn’t even have enough time to decide whether he wanted to make a run for it or not.

In the blink of an eye, Jie Fu Lian’s hand reached out to grab the demon’s throat.

The demon frantically grabbed Jie Fu Lian’s arm and tried to escape but his strength couldn’t be compared with that of Jie Fu Lian.

"You were the one, weren’t you?" Jie Fu Lian questioned and his voice sounded a lot calmer than his actions, "You hurt Hua Tianshu."

The demon gasped for air and his eyes almost rolled to the back of his head.

"Y-Young Master!" A voice interrupted Jie Fu Lian’s actions and it belonged to Tail who had managed to wake up from the demon’s control, "Don’t do this!"

Jie Fu Lian gritted his teeth as he heard this and spoke, "Stay out of it."

"Young Master, you can’t!" Tail insisted and since he was no longer under the control of the demon, the diety binding ropes around his legs loosened up and he fell down, head first.

Tail hurriedly rushed towards Jie Fu Lian but stopped just a few steps away from the man as he spoke, "Young Master, if you kill him like this, you’ll definitely regret it."
