Chapter 71: He killed Hua Tianshu

"He killed Hua Tianshu," Jie Fu Lian replied and there was a slight crack in his voice.

Tail took a sharp breath in as he heard this and his eyes traveled over to Hua Tianshu’s unconscious body.

"Daoist Hua can still be saved," Tail sighed as he spoke. He was unsure but at the moment, he needed to say something in order to convince Jie Fu Lian and this was the best that he could come up with.

"He can?" Jie Fu Lian gulped as he repeated.

Tail nodded his head firmly as he spoke, "If we get him out of this place, we can definitely save him. It isn’t too late."

Jie Fu Lian’s hand around the demon’s neck loosened and the demon took this opportunity to push Jie Fu Lian away.

However, before the demon could run away, Tail had already moved first and took out the spiritual dagger tied to Jie Fu Lian’s waist and threw it at the demon.

The dagger pierced the demon’s chest and the demon fell back.

Tail immediately sighed in relief.

"Don’t you dare run away!" Tail glared at the demon as he shouted, "I didn’t stop him because I wanted to save you."

The demon gritted his teeth as he glared back at the little youngster who dared to behave so rudely to him.

"How do we take him out of here?" Jie Fu Lian completely ignored the demon’s existence as he turned to Tail and asked.

Tail sighed as he spoke, "First, you need to calm down. Currently, your eyes are red and your nails have turned into claws. Young Master, you are a human, not a demon. Always remember that."

Jie Fu Lian looked down at his hands as he heard this and felt a little shocked to see the claws that had appeared without his knowing.

"Break out of the demon’s control first," Tail spoke as he continued, "When you do that, we can kill him and get out of this illusion."

This was probably the first time that Tail had learned his Young Master’s secret but his reaction was quite good. He was surprised but he wasn’t too shocked. He was a bit taken back but he wasn’t terrified of Jie Fu Lian and he refused to believe that Jie Fu Lian was the same as the demon who trapped them here.

"Close your eyes and take a deep breath," Tail calmly instructed, "Young Master, try to remember the reason why you came here. How did you get trapped in this illusion and who is your real enemy?"

"I came to save Hua Tianshu..." Jie Fu Lian muttered and the claws started to disappear.

"That’s good. It’s working," Tail smiled as he assured.

"I was tricked into entering this illusion. The real enemy is the demon who abducted Hua Tianshu and trapped us here." 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

"Jie Fu Lian! How can you say that?!" The demon who still had a dagger stabbing his chest cried out in distress, "I was only following orders! Your true enemy is the demon king and nobody else! If you have a bone to pick, pick it with him, not with me!"

Jie Fu Lian’s eyes turned back to normal and he no longer showed any signs of demonic transformation.

"Tail... What happened here?" Jie Fu Lian innocently blinked as he asked, looking around in confusion.

The man was probably unable to remember anything that transpired when he was in his demonic form.

Tail smiled as he heard this question and took a deep breath in as he shook his head and spoke, "Nothing."

Jie Fu Lian felt a sense of Deja Vu.

Last time, Hua Tianshu had also said the same when Jie Fu Lian attacked him under the demon’s influence.

Jie Fu Lian’s eyes that traveled all over the place finally stopped at Hua Tianshu’s unconscious body and as he looked, he felt a shiver run down his spine.

"Hua Tianshu...?" Jie Fu Lian muttered and there was a sense of fear and pain in his voice that could be clearly sensed.

"It wasn’t you," Tail assured with a sigh, "It was the demon that attacked him."

"Young Boy, who taught you to lie like that?! When did I ever touch Hua Tianshu?! It was clearly your ’Young Master’ that killed him!" The demon immediately defended himself in fear.

As soon as Jie Fu Lian heard the word ’Killed’, he gasped in fear as he stumbled a few steps back.

"The demon is trying to trick you," Tail gulped as he spoke up, "Don’t trust him. All he knows is how to trick people."

The demon glared at the little boy and felt that instead of that useless HuiXue sect disciple surnamed Zhang, he should’ve killed this boy called Tail.

Jie Fu Lian bit his lip as he stared at Hua Tianshu’s body in guilt. He didn’t remember much but there was still a scene that he could recall and it was the scene of Hua Tianshu crying as he gasped for air under him.

That one memory was enough for Jie Fu Lian to understand the situation. Under the demon’s control, Jie Fu Lian had probably attacked Hua Tianshu.

"Young Master, Let’s kill him and get out of here," Tail spoke as he glared back at the demon, "If we get out of here, we have a chance of saving Hua Tianshu."

Upon hearing this, the demon laughed, looking like a madman as he commented, "Jie Fu Lian, do you really think you can save him? Just look at his condition! It was done by you! You are the one to blame and now you think you have any right to save him?! I’m not the enemy here! Look in the mirror and you’ll see the real enemy!"

Tail angrily approached the demon and without a second thought, he stomped on the handle of the dagger as he further pushed the dagger into the demon’s chest.

The demon’s face immediately turned red in pain and he coughed out a mouthful of blood.

"Young Master, do you want to kill him or should I finish him off for you?" Tail politely asked.

"Tail, move aside."

Tail hesitated a bit as he heard this but in the end, he still willingly stepped aside as he listened to Jie Fu Lian.

"Haha... Jie Fu Lian, I knew you were smart! If you pull this dagger out, I’ll tell you how to get out of he-" The demon’s words were cut short as Jie Fu Lian pulled the dagger out and stabbed the demon’s neck instead.

This dagger looked decorative but it was made to kill anyone and anything that walked under the heavens. Even if the dagger was left in the demon’s chest, he would have still died, but now, his death was a lot quicker.

Originally, Jie Fu Lian wanted the demon to suffer before he died, but in order to break this illusion and save Hua Tianshu, he needed to make it quick.

In an instant, he died with his eyes and mouth wide open in shock. His death was quite ugly and the remaining expression on his dead face clearly matched.

The fluffy white cat, who sat on top of a building and saw this entire scene, gracefully jumped down and landed on the ground. As it meowed, the illusion finally broke.

Jie Fu Lian and Tail immediately fell down unconscious as they saw the illusion around them break apart.

The last thing Jie Fu Lian saw before completely losing consciousness was the sight of the fluffy tail and butt that belonged to the white cat.

"Jie Fu Lian, one day, we’ll meet again. Till then, take care."

It was an unfamiliar voice that spoke directly into Jie Fu Lian’s mind.

When Jie Fu Lian finally opened his eyes, he woke up back at the inn that he was staying at.

"Young Master, are you awake?" Tail immediately called out to him as he ran over to Jie Fu Lian’s side.

"Where is Hua Tianshu?" Jie Fu Lian’s voice was a bit hoarse and he hadn’t fully snapped out of it but Hua Tianshu was still the first one that he asked for.

It was a subconscious reaction that even he could not justify.

Tail was a bit surprised to hear this unexpected question but he still smiled as he spoke, "Daoist Hua survived."

Jie Fu Lian could finally sigh in relief.

"His injuries are currently being treated. It would take some time for him to completely recover but with time, he’ll be alright."

Jie Fu Lian nodded his head as he heard this and spoke, "Can I meet him?"

Tail blinked in surprise as he heard this and hesitantly asked, "Young Master, I’m sorry if this comes out as rude but weren’t you and Daoist Hua at odds with one another?"

Jie Fu Lian gulped as he heard this and had to think about it for a minute before he replied, "Our relationship has improved."

It wasn’t exactly a lie. They lived together and took care of each other for a few weeks. Although there wasn’t much of a development, Jie Fu Lian still felt as if their relationship had improved.

He used to think that Hua Tianshu was a cold-hearted man but after going through a life or death situation together, he felt as if his first impression of the man might have been a bit wrong.

If Hua Tianshu was really a cold-hearted man, he would have immediately killed Jie Fu Lian the moment he showed symptoms of being controlled by the demon.
