Chapter 72: It was truly embarrassing!

"That’s really good! Since your relationship has improved, it’s only natural that you want to meet him, but I’m afraid you have to rest a bit first. Daoist Hua is also not in a condition where he can meet others so Young Master should wait a few days."

Jie Fu Lian smiled as he heard this and enthusiastically nodded his head.

For some reason, it felt extremely nice not to be enemies with Hua Tianshu.

Jie Fu Lian even had the scary thought that perhaps everything had happened for good since he got to improve his relationship with Hua Tianshu through this ordeal.

A few days passed and Jie Fu Lian was finally able to meet Hua Tianshu.

He was very excited and his excitement could easily be noticed by anyone with even half a brain.

However, unfortunately, his excitement did not last long.

As he opened the door and entered, he saw Hua Tianshu sitting upright with a cup of tea in his hands.

"Hua Tianshu, I’m so glad to see you alive!" Jie Fu Lian beamed and as soon as he had said it, he started regretting it a little as he felt that his choice of words was perhaps not the best.

Hua Tianshu cleared his throat and placed the cup down on the table as he spoke, "I’m also glad to be alive. Thanks to you, I really thought I was going to die in that illusion."

Jie Fu Lian gulped as he heard this and felt a little awkward. For some reason, he couldn’t help but feel as if that was a backhanded comment aimed at him.

In the first place itself, Jie Fu Lian was the reason why Hua Tianshu was at death’s door so of course, Hua Tianshu would say something like that.

However, Hua Tianshu really had no intention of blaming Jie Fu Lian for anything. When it came to Jie Fu Lian, he was always bad with his words and he couldn’t help but create needless misunderstandings.

Jie Fu Lian took a deep breath in as he looked down at his fidgeting fingers and spoke, "Brother Hua, I want to thank you for everything and I also want to apologize for everything I did. It must have been difficult for you when I was being controlled by the demon... I brought you a lot of trouble. I said ignorant words such as saving you but in the end, you were the one who needed to save me. Brother Hua is really a kind man. I was very rude to you. I was being selfish and immature."

As Hua Tianshu heard the man referring to him as ’Brother Hua’, he felt his heartbeat fasten and his ears flushed red. He gulped as he blurted out the first thing that came to his mind, "That’s right."

"Eh?" Jie Fu Lian tilted his head and blinked in confusion as he heard this response.

Hua Tianshu coughed as he suddenly stood up and turned around to hide his blushing face. He felt flustered and no longer knew what he was thoughtlessly blurting out, "It was troublesome so don’t ever do it again."

Hua Tianshu really wished that Jie Fu Lian would never get himself involved with the demon king again. The Demon King was truly dangerous and if there was such a situation in the future, Jie Fu Lian’s demonic origins would surely be revealed to the public and that would put the man in danger.

As soon as Jie Fu Lian heard the man’s words, his heart dropped and he felt both shocked and humiliated. It was the same feeling as the one he had when he first met Hua Tianshu.

"Since you don’t have anything important to say, I’ll be taking my leave," Hua Tianshu continued, "You should also go back and if possible, enter seclusion for the next few years."

There was no guarantee that Jie Fu Lian’s demonic Qi was completely resealed so it was safer for him to enter seclusion.

With this much said, Hua Tianshu walked out of the room, leaving a dumbfounded Jie Fu Lian behind.

Jie Fu Lian slowly gritted his teeth as he replayed Hua Tianshu’s words in his mind.

’You should also go back and if possible, enter seclusion for the next few years...’

Basically telling him to stay out of Hua Tianshu’s sight for the next few years.

Jie Fu Lian turned red all over with embarrassment and he slammed his hand on the table as he felt the need to slap himself for being delusional just a few minutes ago.

Even after spending a month together, their relationship had clearly not changed and even if it did, it was probably for the worst!

Previously, he thought the man was cold-hearted but now he wondered if the man even had a heart at all!

With just a few of his words, he managed to humiliate Jie Fu Lian and Jie Fu Lian couldn’t even say anything back!

It was truly embarrassing!

Hua Tianshu really hadn’t changed in the slightest!

However, this time, Jie Fu Lian had no plans of hiding away. He had just returned after three-year-long seclusion so there was no way he was going to go back after just a few words from Hua Tianshu.

Jie Fu Lian clenched his fist and glared at the door through which Hua Tianshu had walked out.

Jie Fu Lian had already surpassed Hua Tianshu in terms of cultivation. However, Hua Tianshu had a much better and more well-known reputation when compared to Jie Fu Lian.

If Jie Fu Lian wanted the man to acknowledge him properly, he needed to surpass him in all aspects! He needed to become more well-known than Hua Tianshu! 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

With this thought in mind, he decided to actively take part in the martial world.

His strength was of no use if he didn’t help people. A good reputation wasn’t built overnight, it took both time and effort.

From that day onwards, Jie Fu Lian decided to make it his habit to help people wherever he went. In turn, he got what he wanted and became quite well known. However, although he became famous, his reputation only worsened with time.

Wherever he went, there would be brutal murders and demons involved. If it had been twice or thrice, it could be brushed aside as mere coincidences, but unfortunately, it wasn’t just a few times. Every time there was a major crime, he was always there and due to this, people started painting him as the main suspect for every incident.

"Did you talk to him?" Hua Meifang asked as she saw her brother coming back from meeting Jie Fu Lian.

Hua Tianshu nodded his head, his ears looking to be bright red.

"Were you able to say anything this time or did you ruin it again?"

Hua Tianshu suddenly smiled as he beamed, "We had a proper conversation!~"

Hua Meifang blinked a few times as she heard this and found it a bit hard to believe his words, but when she saw the man looking like a little child who had just talked to someone he admired, she couldn’t help but want to smile and support him.

"So you cleared the misunderstanding?" Hua Meifang excitedly asked, becoming a little invested in her brother’s relationship.

"No."

Hua Meifang’s smile immediately fell down and she questioned, "Then what did you say?"

"I told him to go into seclusion for the next few years."

"..." Hua Meifang didn’t know if she wanted to laugh or cry as she heard this. She knew her brother was a hopeless idiot but she never knew her brother was this dumb.

"My heart felt as if it was ready to burst out of my chest," Hua Tianshu spoke as he patted his chest, "What if I die from happiness? If that happens, I might not even complain about my death."

Hua Meifang frowned as she heard this and asked, "Brother Hua, are you an idiot?"

"I think so," Hua Tianshu absentmindedly nodded his head as he replied.

Hua Meifang fell speechless for a few minutes as she heard this response and shook her head in disbelief.

She refused to accept the fact that the man standing in front of her was her capable older brother.

She wanted to support her brother in pursuing a relationship with Jie Fu Lian but at the same time, she felt as if a relationship between them was simply impossible because of her idiotic brother who acted worse than a teenager in love.

"Young Master, what is this?" Tail asked as he looked down at the dagger that Jie Fu Lian handed to him.

"I think you should keep it," Jie Fu Lian spoke with a smile, "Back in the illusion, you helped me a lot. If it weren’t for you, we might have been trapped there for a long time."

Although Jie Fu Lian didn’t remember much, he still recalled the fact that Tail was the one who had helped him break out of the demon’s control. He felt a bit thankful towards the boy and also a bit guilty.

"Young Master, I’m not deserving of this dagger yet," Tail firmly replied, "You can give it to me when I improve my cultivation."

Jie Fu Lian smiled as he heard this and shook his head as he assured, "Yangyang, you are worthy. You just need to believe in yourself."

It was the first time Jie Fu Lian had called the boy’s real nickname and the boy could no longer insist on refusing.
