"D-Daoist Hua, your wolf cub is cute but it’s fake!"

As soon as the words were spoken, the guard regretted opening his mouth.
Hua Tianshu looked down at the little wolf cub that he was holding and then raised his head to look back at the man as he asked, "What is your reasoning?"
"All of us saw the wolf cub before we passed out!" The second guard gulped as he hesitantly spoke up.
"How could you tell that it was Ai Ming?" Hua Tianshu questioned back.
The three guards looked at each other and seemed to be a little reluctant to say anything and hence, Hua Tianshu continued.
"It could have been another wolf cub."
"There’s no way!" One of the guards shouted back and Jie Fu Lian recognized him as the dumb guard who had fallen head over heels for Jie Fu Lian’s cute little wolf face.
"Hmm?" Hua Tianshu raised his eyebrows as he looked at the man and patiently waited for an explanation.
"Daoist Hua Tianshu’s wolf cub can be clearly identified even if mixed in a pack of wolf cubs. It’s the cutest wolf cub in the entire world! It is exceptionally well-behaved and charms everyone with just a look! How can I mistake it for another?!"
"..." Everyone present to hear this confession was a bit shocked and didn’t know if they should laugh or not.
Hua Tianshu’s eyes narrowed down on the man unhappily and he hugged the little wolf cub a little closer as he spoke, "You are right. My Ai Ming is really the cutest in the world."
Jie Fu Lian couldn’t help but suddenly turn stiff as he heard this. Thankfully, he was in the little wolf cub’s form, if not, somebody would have immediately noticed his blushing cheeks.
"But you should still keep your eyes away and refrain from having any indecent thoughts," Hua Tianshu continued as he glared at the man.
The man immediately looked a little dumbfounded as he heard this reaction and it took an entire minute for him to process what had just happened.
"Daoist Hua Tianshu, what do you mean indecent thoughts?!" The man defended himself as he stumbled a few steps back, "No matter how cute, Ai Ming is still an animal! How can I have indecent thoughts about an animal?!"
"Exactly," Hua Tianshu nodded his head as he replied, "Ai Ming is an animal so how could he sneak inside the heavily guarded record room and knock out three skilled guards unconscious?"
"..." The man pursed his lips unhappily and immediately fell silent.
"What if it isn’t an animal?" The other guard questioned and Jie Fu Lian recognized this guard as the one who had been suspicious of him since the beginning and failed to fall for his charms.
Hua Tianshu raised his eyebrows as he heard this and smiled as he asked, "If it wasn’t an animal, would you not have sensed it? Are you telling me that the Jin Sect disciples are so incompetent that they can’t even tell a real animal apart from a fake one?"
The guard glared back at Hua Tianshu as he heard this and spoke, "Daoist Hua, why are you trying to use our own words against us? You keep asking us for proof but shouldn’t you be the one to prove yourself innocent first? There are five witnesses who saw your disciple and your pet acting suspiciously around the record room. At the same time, you weren’t there in your room. Can you first explain where you were and what you were doing?"
"Have I said anything wrong?" Hua Tianshu sighed as he calmly questioned back, "Are you not incompetent? Actually, I also have a few questions that I’d like to ask."
Hua Tianshu turned to look at Jin Long as he spoke, "Daoist Jin Long, I remember you telling me that the record room was one of the most protected areas in the Jin Sect. There are five guards stationed there at all times and numerous talismans and traps laid out inside to stop anyone from getting in without authorization. Now you are telling me that two of your guards were too busy fighting a ghost while the other three had been knocked out by a wolf cub? And what about the various talismans and traps? Are you gonna tell me that the thief was able to get rid of it? If that’s the case then I can’t help but be impressed by the thief. At least someone was competent enough to get their job done."
His words were certainly aimed to incite the man but Jin Long only laughed awkwardly as he spoke, "Hua Gongzi’s words make sense, but it doesn’t change the fact that you were missing from your room. Why don’t you just tell us where you were and what you were doing?"
Hua Tianshu was silent as he heard this question and looked away with a sigh as he spoke, "I’m afraid I can’t reveal that."
The guard scoffed as he heard this and accusingly spoke, "You can’t reveal it? Why? Is it because you were trying to sneak into the record room?"
Hua Tianshu didn’t say anything and firmly stood his ground.
Jin Long sighed as he heard this and spoke, "Hua Gongzi, if you can’t prove your innocence, I’ll have to lock up your spiritual wolf and your disciple in the interrogation chamber."
"Daoist Hua, I’m glad to see that you are trying to be considerate towards me but there is no need," Jin Shifeng suddenly sighed as she interrupted Jin Long and spoke up, revealing, "When the thief snuck into the record room, Daoist Hua Tianshu was with me."
Jin Long snapped his head towards his wife and stared at her in shock as he heard this. In fact, almost everyone had the same shocked reaction when they heard this.
For Hua Tianshu to meet with Jin Shifeng that late at night... It was certainly improper!
The situation turned quite scandalous and Jin Shifeng couldn’t help but feel immense pressure to explain further and clear up any misunderstandings.
"The little wolf cub was with him and his disciple was also there. I am the witness," Jin Shifeng spoke as she looked at the two.
Hua Tianshu sighed as he stopped her from speaking anything further and decided to explain the situation in his own words.
"Ai Ming seemed to have taken a liking to Madam Jin Shifeng. In the middle of the night, he suddenly ran out and went to find Madam Jin Shifeng. When I found out, I went with my disciple to get him back. We simply had a few cups of tea and discussed some matters."
Jin Shifeng nodded her head as she confirmed it.
Jin Long gulped as he bit his bottom lip and stayed silent. Suddenly, he was put in a bad position. On one side, there were three guards giving absolutely ridiculous testimonies while on the other side, there was his wife, Jin Shifeng, who was giving an entirely different testimony.
Everyone knew how powerful Jin Shifeng was and they also knew that she was an honest woman who wouldn’t lie even in a dream. Although Jin Long was the stand-in sect master of the Jin Sect at the moment, Jin Shifeng still held a lot more power in her hands.
Everyone was more trusting of her words than they were of Jin Long’s and hence it was clear that the woman was able to turn this situation around with just a simple testimony.
The idea of the woman lying was unimaginable and the thought of her being tricked was even more unbelievable.
"In the first place itself, if it was really Daoist Duan Luoyang and little Ai Ming, why would they openly show their faces and let themselves be recognized? It makes no sense," Jin Shifeng sighed as she spoke up.
Many people in the main hall seemed to have suddenly switched sides as they heard her words and started nodding their heads as they agreed.
"Madam Jin’s words make sense!" One of the elders from the Jin Sect spoke up as he joined the conversation, "If Daoist Hua Tianshu was behind this, would he not try to hide it? This is clearly a case of defamation. The thief made it look as if Daoist Hua Tianshu was behind this incident. I don’t know what he was trying to achieve but it is clear that the thief holds a grudge against Daoist Hua."
"I also think that’s the case," Another elder added, "Daoist Hua Tianshu came here to restore his relationship with the Jin Sect and somebody is purposefully trying to frame him in order to create a misunderstanding and worsen our relationship. This person not only holds a grudge against Daoist Hua but also doesn’t want to let his relationship with our sect be restored."
"We must find him as soon as possible!"
"Instead of trying to find the thief, we should first start looking into what the thief stole," Jin Shifeng sighed as she added, "In any case, it is impossible for Daoist Hua Tianshu to be connected with this situation.
