The Demon King is an Idiot [BL]-Chapter 76: That will never happen
"I have already sent a team of disciples to search the record room," Jin Long spoke as he replied, "In the next few hours, we would be able to find the records that were stolen."
Jin Shifeng nodded her head as she heard this.
"In the meantime, I’m going to have to ask everyone to stay in the main hall," Jin Long added as he looked at Hua Tianshu. Although he used the word ’everyone’ it was clear that he had said it out of courtesy in order to not single out Hua Tianshu.
"The thief might hide away any evidence if given the time," Jin Long tried to explain himself as he spoke, "By keeping everyone here, we can at least rest assured that the thief would not be able to run away."
Hua Tianshu chuckled under his breath as he heard this and this wasn’t a reaction garnered by his amusement, rather, it was a mocking chuckle.
"What if the thief isn’t inside the main hall?" Hua Tianshu smiled as he asked.
Jin Long gulped as he heard this and looked back at Hua Tianshu with a strict expression as he firmly replied, "In that case, I’ll take responsibility."
Hua Tianshu nodded his head, feeling satisfied as he agreed, "Then I’ll stay here for the next few hours."
Jin Long’s expression eased up a little as he heard this.
"However, I have a condition."
Jin Long immediately regretted feeling relieved.
Hua Tianshu sighed as he looked at Jin Long and continued, "By tomorrow morning, if it is proven that we are innocent, your sect must give us a formal apology and we should be allowed to leave this place."
"Hua Gongzi, we have really inconvenienced you a lot. For that, we will sincerely apologize. If it turns out that you aren’t related to this case, you’ll naturally be allowed to leave," Jin Long put on a polite smile as he replied.
Hua Tianshu nodded his head and voluntarily walked up to a side pillar as he decided to calmly wait for the next few hours.
The atmosphere in the main hall was tense and awkward. It was midnight and everyone should have been sleeping by now, but even though they felt a little tired, nobody dared to fall asleep in the main hall. That is, everyone except for the courageous three outsiders.
Hua Tianshu sat down with his back against the pillar and soon dozed off without a care in the world. The wolf cub in his arms yawned a few times before snuggling up to Hua Tianshu and falling asleep.
Duan Luoyang wasn’t as carefree as the other two. At first, he had decided to stay up till this situation was resolved but as time went by, he started feeling a little tired and when he saw his master and his uncle Fu sleeping so soundly, he couldn’t help but be tempted away.
In the end, Duan Luoyang fell asleep with his head rested against Hua Tianshu’s shoulder.
The sight of the three leaning against each other and sleeping together was quite peaceful. The only sentence that could describe the scene perfectly would be—’A father, a son, and a lovely pet that lived harmoniously together and knew no hardships in life.’
Looking at them like this, it was a bit strange to think that the three were previously suspected of stealing.
When Jin Shifeng saw the three snuggled up next to each other, she couldn’t help but feel a little jealous of Hua Tianshu. Not only did the man have such a lovely disciple that was both obedient and talented, he also had a spiritual beast that was so cute that it could never be compared to any other spiritual beast in the world.
Jin Shifeng was a woman who hardly ever showed any emotions on her face. Even when facing her husband, her strict temper remained the same. This had caused many to speculate that she was a person who had a hard time expressing her feelings and some people even created rumors about her hating her marriage with Jin Long.
However, she wasn’t a person who had a hard time expressing her emotions. In fact, she was a person who wouldn’t hide even a single emotion of hers. As for her relationship with her husband, the rumors weren’t exactly true but they were still hinting at a true fact. Since the beginning itself, she was never happy with her marriage, but she never outrightly hate it either.
The reason why her attitude towards her husband was always cold and unchanging was because this wasn’t a marriage out of love for her, it was a marriage out of convenience. She didn’t hate Jin Long nor did she dislike his nature. In fact, she felt that Jin Long was quite a capable man with a gentleman’s temper.
However, She simply didn’t love him and that was something that would never change.
Her indifferent expression wasn’t a facade to hide away her emotions. She looked indifferent towards everyone simply because she didn’t care about them. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
She had always been such a person who couldn’t be bothered by anyone and this characteristic of hers had made many think that she was alike an immortal.
The only time when she really felt any strong emotion was when she was playing with spiritual beasts and demonic beasts.
When she was little, she wanted to grow up and become a beast trainer but because of the strict rules inside the Yu Sect, she had to abandon her dreams and suppress her love for the cute creatures.
However, although she had abandoned her dreams of becoming a beast trainer, her love for spiritual and demonic beasts remained unchanged. Even at the moment, she was raising at least eight different varieties of spiritual and demonic beasts, but sadly enough, none of them were spiritual wolves.
When Jin Shifeng first saw Hua Tianshu’s spiritual wolf cub, she felt a little awestruck and immediately felt the need to raise one for herself as well, but how could any other wolf cub compare to the cute and capable Ai Ming?
When they had tea together, Jin Shifeng talked a lot about Ai Ming, and every time the little wolf cub was mentioned, Hua Tianshu showed a mixed expression. He was excited to talk about the wolf cub but at the same time, he didn’t like how Jin Shifeng openly showed her affection to the little wolf cub.
Jin Shifeng asked him if Ai Ming had any siblings and Hua Tianshu immediately disappointed her with a firm ’no’. She didn’t let her disappointment stop her and requested, "Daoist Hua, if in the future Ai Ming has children, make sure to let me have one."
"Madam Jin, Ai Ming is a boy."
To that, she half-jokingly said, "Don’t worry, Ai Ming is very charming. In the future, he’ll definitely get a pretty girlfriend and have a child together."
As Hua Tianshu heard this, his entire body froze up and he glared at Jin Shifeng with unhidden hostility.
"That will never happen," Hua Tianshu firmly replied.
In the end, seeing Hua Tianshu’s hostility towards her, Jin Shifeng could only laugh it off as a joke.
Jin Shifeng now sighed as she looked at the little wolf cub that was snuggled up on Hua Tianshu’s lap and sleeping peacefully. In this life, it seemed that she would never be fortunate enough to raise a clever and cute wolf cub like this.
Two hours passed and the disciples that Jin Long had sent came back to the main hall.
Hua Tianshu woke up by the sound of their rushing footsteps and soon enough, Duan Luoyang and Jie Fu Lian also opened their eyes.
Jin Long gulped as he carefully looked at the tired faces of the disciples.
One of the disciples stepped forward as he sighed and vaguely spoke, "Daoist Hua Tianshu isn’t the culprit."
Jin Long’s eyebrows drew together as he heard this and he looked at the disciple in confusion. Even without saying a word, his expressions clearly conveyed what he wanted to ask—I sent you to check what was stolen and you come back to defend Hua Tianshu....?
Jin Shifeng looked at the disciple and cleared her throat as she asked, "What was stolen?"
The disciple suddenly looked away as he heard this and there was a light blush covering his cheeks as he took a minute to hesitantly speak, "The thrilling love story of immortal Xue Lan and A fool’s guide to pursue Jin Shifeng."
"..." Nobody dared to say anything.
Hua Tianshu couldn’t help but secretly glance at Jie Fu Lian as he raised his eyebrows and asked in his mind, ’If you found nothing, you should’ve come back empty-handed. Why would you pick up rubbish and bring it along?’
The little wolf cub sensed Hua Tianshu’s stare and innocently glanced back as if he had never done anything that he shall be blamed for.
The record room of the Jin sect not only contained official records but also contained a lot of books, some of which were practical and some of which were fictional and made to satisfy the readers. The two stolen books were precisely the latter.
In fact, one could buy the two books from a local street stall for just a few copper coins. Breaking into such a highly-secured record room just to steal these two books made no sense whatsoever.
It was as if the thief stole just for the sake of stealing.
