The Demon King is an Idiot [BL]-Chapter 77: He looked like a swindler.
Jie Fu Lian didn’t feel embarrassed or ashamed. In fact, if he went back in time, he would still choose to take these two books with him since the titles were quite intriguing.
’The thrilling love story of immortal Xue Lan’, as the title suggested, was a book that focused on Xue Lan and his love story with a demon. Of course, most of the book was fictional, however, there were still some parts that were based on facts.
’A fool’s guide to pursue Jin Shifeng’ was a book written by one of Jin Shifeng’s fans and it was based on proven facts. Everything about the woman, from the food she liked to the dresses she loved, was all noted down in the book in great detail. In order to understand Jin Shifeng’s history and personality, this was perhaps the best book that ever existed.
However, because of the ambiguous title, people believed that the book was about pursuing Jin Shifeng and since the woman was already married, not many were interested in reading the book.
After a long pause, Jin Long looked at the disciple in disbelief as he awkwardly asked, "Are you sure nothing else was missing?"
The disciple nodded his head as he heard this, "We’ve thoroughly checked the entire record room. Nothing else was missing."
One of the Jin sect elders broke out laughing as he heard this and the tense atmosphere immediately shattered as everyone found this scene a bit comical.
"As expected, this really was a foolish man’s plan to dishonor our sect’s name and ruin our relationship with Daoist Hua Tianshu," The elder spoke, still laughing.
Many others nodded their heads and agreed with him.
There was no way Hua Tianshu would bother going through all the trouble of breaking into their record room just to steal these two books that weren’t even worth a nice meal.
With this, Hua Tianshu’s innocence was proven without any problem and the little thief that stole ’The thrilling love story of immortal Xue Lan’ and ’A fool’s guide to pursue Jin Shifeng’ smoothly got away with his crime.
With his face flushing red from embarrassment, Jin Long lowered his head and kneeled down as he properly did a kowtow and apologized to Hua Tianshu.
Hua Tianshu was a bit shocked. After all, this Jin Long was the Sect Master’s eldest son so it was only expected of him to be a proud person who would never kneel before anyone. However, Jin Long not only kneeled so sincerely, but he also acknowledged his own mistakes and whole-heartedly apologized.
Since the man was kneeling, it would be petty of Hua Tianshu to not forgive him.
With a sigh, Hua Tianshu closed his eyes as he no longer looked at the kneeling Jin Long and spoke, "I have no grudge against you. It was your duty to suspect me and have the situation investigated and you have done your part so there is really no need for me to further criticize and blame you."
Jin Long raised his head and looked at Hua Tianshu with a smile as he heard this. He looked to be thankful for Hua Tianshu’s kindness and his expression truly seemed genuine.
As Hua Tianshu opened his eyes and looked back at him, he couldn’t help but frown a little as he thought—the boy who clung to Jie Ming’s arm had really grown. He had become wise and acted with poise.
Hua Tianshu was slightly impressed.
However, he still didn’t like Jin Long.
For Hua Tianshu, no matter what type of person Jin Long was or became, it would still be impossible for them to get along well with each other.
Jin Long was Jie Fu Lian’s friend but when push came to shove, he had still abandoned his friendship and became one of the reasons for Jie Fu Lian’s downfall.
That was something that Hua Tianshu could never forget nor forgive.
"Our innocence has been proven and as promised, I’ll be taking my leave now," Hua Tianshu lightly bowed his head as he spoke.
It was around four in the morning and by now, they should have all rested and woken up for morning meditation. However, due to the situation, Hua Tianshu wasn’t allowed to rest properly and Jin Long naturally felt a little guilty about it.
"Hua Gongzi, why don’t you rest a bit before you go? If you leave like this, I would feel guilty for having served you badly at our sect."
Hua Tianshu pursed his lips into a thin line as he heard this and spoke, "You have served us badly. I’m just choosing not to take it to heart. I appreciate your offer but it would be inconvenient for us to stay here any longer."
Jin Long couldn’t say anything against that and in the end, Hua Tianshu left the main hall.
Since they brought nothing with them, there was no need for them to return to the guest room to collect their things. They straightforwardly walked through the sect, heading for the main gate.
When they reached the main gate, there was an odd man standing there chatting with one of the guards.
Hua Tianshu looked at the man for only a few seconds before he looked away.
Like Hua Tianshu, Jie Fu Lian had also noticed the man.
He wore white-colored simple robes with floating patterns of stars on the hem. From the robes that he wore, it didn’t look like he belonged to the Jin Sect. He had quite the pretty face that could almost be mistaken for a woman’s but Jie Fu Lian could sense no spiritual energy from the man and that made him a little curious.
The man was surely not a commoner but he was also not a cultivator.
Such a character was allowed to go inside the Jin Sect without any problem and he even chatted with the guard as if all the guards already knew his identity. It was indeed a bit odd.
As they passed by the odd man, the man glanced at the little wolf cub silently.
For a second there, Jie Fu Lian felt a shiver run down his spine.
When they had walked a few more steps forward and the man was out of their sight, Jie Fu Lian sent Hua Tianshu a voice transmission as he straightforwardly asked, "Who was that?"
"A fortune-teller," Hua Tianshu replied without much thought.
"Do you know him?"
Hua Tianshu shook his head.
"Then how could you tell?"
"He looked like a swindler."
"..." Jie Fu Lian didn’t know if he wanted to laugh or not.
Hua Tianshu’s confident words were surely not always dependable.
After walking a few more steps, they suddenly heard the voice of a woman calling for them from behind.
Hua Tianshu’s feet stopped and he turned around as he recognized the voice, "Madam Jin Shifeng?"
Jin Shifeng landed down from her sword as she stood in front of them and spoke, "I deeply apologize for the inconveniences that you were caused."
Hua Tianshu didn’t care too much about her apology since Jie Fu Lian really had committed a crime under Hua Tianshu’s orders.
"This might not mean much but if you ever need my help, I’ll be sure to come right away," The woman took out a pure white jade token as she handed it over to Hua Tianshu and spoke.
Hua Tianshu took the white jade token and carefully looked at it for a moment before he spoke, "Actually, there is something that I might need your help with."
Madam Jin Shifeng’s eyes immediately lit up and she smiled as she heard this. She never liked to be indebted to someone else and hence, the quicker she repaid her debt, the more at ease she would be in the future.
"We need to go to the Yu Sect, but as you know, it isn’t easy to go there unannounced. As a former disciple, I was wondering if Madam Jin would be able to help us."
Jin Shifeng’s smile fell down almost instantly and she asked, "Why would Daoist Hua want to go there?"
There wasn’t any suspicion in her tone, She sounded genuinely curious as to know why the man wanted to go to a place that wasn’t even worthy of being visited.
Hua Tianshu softly smiled as he noticed her curiosity and spoke, "I seek a few answers and I have a feeling that the answers would be found in the Yu Sect."
Jin Shifeng frowned as she heard this and her expression clearly gave away her inner thoughts, ’are you sure that damned place would have any answers? If anything, it might leave you with even more questions.’
Although she was from the Yu Sect, it seemed like her filial feelings towards her sect were non-existent.
Hua Tianshu, Jie Fu Lian, and Duan Luoyang, all loved their sects very dearly and hence, they could naturally not understand her reaction.
"It’s hard to find the sect if you go by foot," Jin Shifeng spoke up after a sigh, "I can give you three transportation talismans that would take you there."
Hua Tianshu nodded his head as he heard this, feeling grateful for the help.
