The Demon King is an Idiot [BL]-Chapter 80: Hua Lian

From the inside, the small hut was just as one would expect it to be—Shabby. There wasn’t even enough space for five people to sit and they could hardly stand comfortably. Except for the lack of space, there was also a lack of human touch.

This was the Elder’s house so one would expect there to at least be a bed, however, inside the small hut, there was only a short table and a pillow kept as a chair. On the wall, there were masks and talismans hanging as if they were hung in a shop. The masks were pretty well-crafted, however, the talismans surely looked odd. With just a glance, Jie Fu Lian could tell that these talismans were written by the same person who had written the ’Yu Sect’ on the board that hung on top of the dilapidated main gate.

When they stood outside, they were a bit afraid of entering the place but now that they were inside, all fear left their mind.

The overbearing pressure they felt from the outside was not emitted by the person inside. Rather, it was emitted by an object that was owned by the person.

This object was none other than the brush that was held by the person who sat on the pillow and was currently busy painting something.

"Elder Ren, I have brought you three disciples from the HuiXue sect. They claim to be here on official business but since Sect Master is away, I brought them to you."

The person called Elder Ren stopped painting and she lifted her head up to look at the three guests.

She had long hair that was neatly combed but not tied. She wore no jewelry and her clothes were almost identical to the ones worn by the Yu Sect disciple that had brought them here. Her face was plain but still pleasing to the eye.

No matter how much one looked, they would surely not be able to tell her age. Her face held a youthful charm to it but at the same time, her demeanor was very graceful and made her look wise.

Without saying anything, she looked at the three one-by-one with her eyes lingering on Jie Fu Lian the longest.

When Jie Fu Lian looked back at her, he finally noticed that the masks on the wall were identical to her face. She surely did not look like the type to have her face plastered all over the walls of her house. Perhaps there was something special about these masks that Jie Fu Lian failed to notice.

After a few minutes, she questioned, "All three of you are from the HuiXue sect?"

She was staring at Jie Fu Lian as she asked this and it was clear that this question was aimed at him.

Jie Fu Lian awkwardly scratched the back of his neck as he spoke, "It seems that there has been a misunderstanding. I do not belong to the HuiXue sect."

The woman nodded her head, "You surely do not. I can’t seem to sense your cultivation level. Is it because you are hiding it from me or is it because you have achieved a higher cultivation realm than me?"

Jie Fu Lian politely smiled as he heard her question and spoke, "I am not somebody worth remembering so I dare not tell you my cultivation realm, but I believe that it is only proper for me to give you a name."

Elder Ren didn’t look to be offended as she heard this and quietly nodded her head as she waited for him to speak further.

"You can call me Hua Lian."

Hua Tianshu almost choked to death as he heard this unexpected name and Duan Luoyang couldn’t help but chuckle under his breath as he side-glanced at his flustered Shizun.

Elder Ren also looked at Hua Tianshu as she heard this name and commented, "A fake name?"

Jie Fu Lian grinned but didn’t say anything.

"It’s fine as long as you mean no harm," Elder Ren sighed as she continued and asked, "What brings you here?"

Jie Fu Lian silently looked at the Yu Sect disciple that was still in the small hut as if understanding his intentions, the man bowed his head and took his leave, closing the door behind him as he did.

Now that there were only four people left inside the room, Jie Fu Lian sighed as he spoke up, "We are looking for some information regarding two of your possible disciples." 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

"Who are they?"

"Jin Shifeng and Bai BaoShi."

As Elder Ren heard the former name, she nodded her head as if understanding the reason for the curiosity but as she heard the latter name, she couldn’t help but frown as she spoke, "There is no one name Bai BaoShi in our sect."

"That is of course a fake name," Jie Fu Lian replied firmly, "She might have been a female disciple in the Yu Sect who suddenly left or got thrown out more than twenty years ago."

"I see," The woman closed her eyes and nodded her head.

"I have seen her and hence I was hoping if you could take a look at her picture and recognize her," Jie Fu Lian politely continued.

"I’ll surely be able to help you but," The woman suddenly opened her eyes and smirked as she asked, "Why should I?"

Jie Fu Lian immediately felt a little dumbfounded. He was sure that everything was going fine till now. Suddenly, the friendly business atmosphere seemed to have changed into a more tense one.

"As you know, our sect isn’t doing very well at the moment. Our Sect Master was abducted along with some of our inner disciples. If I help you instead of aiding my sect at the time of crisis, I would surely feel ashamed to have them call me an Elder."

Jie Fu Lian didn’t know if he wanted to laugh or cry as he heard this.

"But we can’t wait for your sect master to return when we don’t even know how long it would take," Duan Luoyang interrupted as he spoke up.

The woman finally placed down her brush and chuckled as she spoke, "That isn’t my problem. I have no obligation towards the HuiXue sect and even if you are here on official business, now is just not the right time for me to assist you. I might seem rude but I’m only being honest with you."

Duan Luoyang gritted his teeth and glared at the woman as he heard this.

Just a few moments ago, this woman was acting so graceful and wise but now, all of that seemed to have disappeared into thin air. For a second, Duan Luoyang even wondered if this person in front of him had suddenly changed souls.

"What is Elder Ren suggesting?" Hua Tianshu straightforwardly asked as he looked at the woman.

The woman looked to be satisfied with this question that she was hoping to hear and clapped her hand as she spoke, "Nothing much. Since you are here seeking help, I would also appreciate it if you could help me back in turn."

"..." This woman had turned this into a proper business deal and they couldn’t even complain about it.

"You might not believe it but there was certainly a time when our sect was prosperous. It looked completely different from what you see today."

Jie Fu Lian’s eyes twitched as he heard this.

That was certainly a bit hard for him to believe.

"But Eight years ago, the demonic beasts around the surrounding Pheonix mountains started attacking our sect. A lot of our disciples were injured and most of our sect was destroyed by them. When they left, we put up strong barriers and did everything to prevent such an attack from happening again, however, we failed."

Jie Fu Lian frowned as he heard this.

If it was eight years ago, it should be around the time he died.

Jie Fu Lian couldn’t help but have a bad feeling in his stomach. He could only hope that this wasn’t related to him.

"With Jie Fu Lian’s death, we thought the demonic beasts would leave us alone but that was only our wishful thinking."

As expected, the bad feeling in his stomach had been accurate and Jie Fu Lian’s name was brought up.

"How are the demonic beasts related to Young Master Jie Fu Lian?" Duan Luoyang immediately questioned, his tone sounding both impolite and a bit hostile.

Elder Ren’s eyes suddenly narrowed down on Duan Luoyang and she felt a little suspicious as she questioned, "Young Master? What is your relationship with him?"

Her tone also contained hostility towards the man.

Duan Luoyang scoffed as he replied, "It’s a relationship that you need not be aware of."

Actually, since the beginning itself, Jie Fu Lian had also wanted to know the answer to this question so when Duan Luoyang gave this response, Jie Fu Lian felt a little disappointed.

There were not many people that called him ’Young Master’ and all the ones that did were already dead.
