"Her sect’s about to be wiped away completely and she seems to be in dire need of money to keep her sect master title. She probably did it for the money. It’s the most possible reason," The demonic beast king spoke, acting as if he wasn’t the one who caused the dire conditions of the Yu Sect.

Jie Fu Lian couldn’t help but nod his head as he heard this. After seeing the state that the Yu Sect was in, he felt that the demonic beast king’s words made sense. The Yu Sect definitely needed a lot of money and as their sect master, it would not be shocking for that person to go out of her way to kill demonic beasts and sell their souls.

"What about the inner core disciples?" Hua Tianshu interrupted the conversation as he asked.

"The disciples?" The demonic beast king laughed, feeling quite amused as he replied, "There is no need for me to keep them here. I only locked them up because they were annoying. If you want, you can take them back."

Jie Fu Lian mentally sighed in relief as he heard this. Even if it was difficult to take the sect master back with them, at least they could save the inner core disciples. That in itself was quite fortunate.

"However, it won’t be easy," The demonic beast king added with a chuckle.

"Huh?"

"Master, you left me without a word and eight years ago, the only thing I heard back from you was the news of your death. I searched for you and even threatened cultivators to find you but nothing worked. Even after possessing a new body, you never bothered to reach out to me. Actually, it won’t be surprising to know that you didn’t even remember me. Master, isn’t that too cruel for me, a demonic beast who you willingly made a contract with?"

"..." Jie Fu Lian was a bit speechless as he heard this.

"Master, if you want me to release the inner core disciples of that damned sect, why don’t you first try admitting your mistake? If you earnestly ask for forgiveness, perhaps my heart would soften and I’ll listen to you for a bit."

Jie Fu Lian stood there like a motionless statue, simply staring at the demonic beast king’s face as he replayed their conversation in his mind.

The demonic beast king wanted Jie Fu Lian to coax him but Jie Fu Lian had never coaxed anyone in his life and hence it was only natural that he was in a daze and had no idea what he was supposed to do.

The demonic beast king sighed as he looked at Jie Fu Lian’s blank expression and in the very next moment, he turned around and walked back to the red curtains before pushing them aside and sitting down on the large bed that was hidden behind the curtains.

Hua Tianshu leaned in closer to Jie Fu Lian’s ears as he suddenly had an idea and spoke, "Let’s murder him while we have the chance."

"..." Jie Fu Lian ignored the man and his impulsive plan.

"Mo Xue, your words are quite harsh. You make it sound as if everything is my fault. did I not save your life by making a contract with you? In the first place itself, didn’t we agree to be friends rather than carrying out a proper contractual relationship? Your friend died and came back eight years later, but instead of greeting him with a cup of tea, you are asking him to apologize and beg for your forgiveness?"

The demonic beast king laughed as he heard Jie Fu Lian’s words and questioned back, "Master Jie Ming, did I ever ask you to go and die? Or did I ask you to come back? Actually, I never even asked you to save my life. You did whatever you wanted to do and now, you are trying to play the victim. Do you really think you are not at fault?"

Jie Fu Lian’s eyebrows creased together as he heard this and he glared at the demonic beast king named Mo Xue.

"Let’s kill him," Hua Tianshu whispered but was once again ignored by Jie Fu Lian.

"You are right. You never asked me to save you but how could I let you die when I knew I could save you? I’m not such a heartless man. Saving you was a choice I made and even if I were to go back in time, I would still make the same choice. I know you don’t care about your own life but to me, every life is precious, even yours, and as long as I can save someone, I would do it even at the cost of my own life."

Mo Xue scoffed, "Every life is precious but yours isn’t...?! What type of bullshit is that?! Master Jie Ming, it seems that our thoughts are very conflicting. To you, every life except for yours is important but to me, your life is much more important than all those worthless scums tainting your name!"

Hua Tianshu nodded his head. For the first time, he actually agreed with something that the demonic beast king had said.

Jie Fu Lian helplessly rubbed his head as he commented, "How can you still be so stubborn and childish?"

"Yes, I am stubborn and childish but at least I am not as dumb as you," The demonic beast king retorted.

"Master Jie Ming, do you even know what people say about you? Did you think everything was solved with your death? Do you know what happened after you died?"

"That’s enough!" Hua Tianshu stepped forward as he interrupted and glared at Mo Xue, stopping him from saying anything further.

Jie Fu Lian frowned as he replied, "I never said my death solved everything. As for what people say about me, I’m sure it’s nothing nice but why does it matter? It’s not like any of it is true."

"It doesn’t matter because it isn’t true?" Mo Xue rolled his eyes as he repeated. "Of course, it wouldn’t matter to you since you have always been good at turning a blind eye, but what about the people that respect you and love you? Do you think they weren’t affected by what others said about you? Do you think everyone was okay with it simply because it wasn’t true? Do you think they were able to blindly move on after your death?"

"I said, that’s enough!" Hua Tianshu raised his voice as he pulled Jie Fu Lian back and shielded him with his body, "This argument would get you both nowhere!"

Mo Xue’s eyes widened as he suddenly realized something. He looked at Hua Tianshu with disbelief as he slowly asked, "He doesn’t know... Does he...?"

Jie Fu Lian raised his eyebrow as he looked between Hua Tianshu and Mo Xue before careful asking, "Know what?"

"Don’t you dare," Hua Tianshu warned Mo Xue but the demonic beast king only smirked as he ignored the warning.

"Yin Ru, Xian Huan, Shi XiuYing, Xue Liang, Bai YiJun, Mo Yang, Hua Tianshu, and Hua Meifang." One by one, the demonic beast king narrated all the names of the people that were close to Jie Fu Lian and revealed, "After your death, all of them entered the deadly abyss for you."

"Enough!" Hua Tianshu shouted as he unsheathed his sword and threateningly pointed it at Mo Xue.

Mo Xue gritted his teeth as he glared back at the man.

Jie Fu Lian slowly frowned as he pulled Hua Tianshu back, "Let him speak. I want to hear this."

Hua Tianshu didn’t lower his sword nor did he stop glaring at the demonic beast king but since Jie Fu Lian was stopping him, he was clearly unable to attack.

"In order to resurrect you, they entered that place in search of your soul. However, the abyss isn’t a place where people can enter and exit whenever they want. It is a dangerous place that even demons avoid."

Jie Fu Lian gulped as he heard this. His heart was loudly thumping with fear inside his chest as he continued listening to the man’s words.

"Yin Ru, Hua Meifang, and Xue Liang were driven insane by the abyss, and when they came back, they had lost all of their cultivation and their spiritual roots had also been completely destroyed. Xian Huan lost all of his memories and Shi XiuYing died in the abyss."

Jie Fu Lian’s eyes widened in shock and his mind went black as he heard this.

"Shockingly enough, Bai YiJun and Mo Yang returned unscathed, and as for Hua Tianshu... He had the worst fate. You should ask him about it yourself. I wouldn’t want to reveal something that he is trying to hide so badly."

Jie Fu Lian turned his head to look at Hua Tianshu and the man immediately turned away, avoiding him.

Jie Fu Lian couldn’t help but feel a little afraid.
