The Demon King is an Idiot [BL]-Chapter 85: A shocking secret
"Hua Tianshu, what happened?" Jie Fu Lian questioned.
"It’s been too long, It doesn’t even matter now."
"Hua Tianshu, you better tell me what happened," Jie Fu Lian pressed.
"It’s not something that you need to know."
Jie Fu Lian clenched his fist as he heard this and firmly replied, "Tell me what happened. This is a threat."
Hua Tianshu silently looked at Jie Fu Lian with a stern expression for a minute or so.
It looked like he wanted to say something but at the same time, it seemed like he refused to say anything.
Jie Fu Lian was certainly afraid of hearing his response and the man was also just as afraid to speak.
"He can never ascend and he would never be able to enter the cycle of reincarnation either." In the end, it was the demonic beast king who had spoken up.
Jie Fu Lian felt stunned as he heard this and stayed silent as he repeated the man’s words in his head.
"I don’t understand..." He muttered in disbelief.
"Hua Tianshu, you better reveal it yourself." The demonic beast king sighed as he spoke, "I don’t want you to deceive my Master. He deserves to know the truth."
Jie Fu Lian gulped as he expectantly looked at Hua Tianshu.
Hua Tianshu sighed as he closed his eyes and shook his head, ’It’s a matter of the past. Bringing it up again would only cause distress."
Jie Fu Lian couldn’t help but grit his teeth as he heard this. Never in his life had he wanted to punch the man more than now.
"So you’ll choose to keep your mouth sealed?" Mo Xue scoffed and not having the patience to wait any further, he unhesitantly revealed, "You destroyed two parts of your souls and used another one to preserve Master Jie Ming’s sword. It’s a shock that you are still alive and you still dare to deceive my master? How long do you think you can keep him in the dark?"
Jie Fu Lian gasped. His mind went blank and he helplessly stared at Hua Tianshu as if hoping that what he had heard wasn’t true.
Hua Tianshu only looked away without saying anything and his guilty expression made it clear that the demonic beast king hadn’t lied.
"This can’t be..." Jie Fu Lian muttered as he faltered a step back.
A soul inside a human could be divided into seven parts. Without all seven parts, after death, one would not be able to enter the cycle of reincarnation nor would they be able to ascend. For a cultivator, all seven parts of the soul were equally important, and losing even one meant a fate worse than death for them.
"As I had thought, you really are unaware of everything, aren’t you?" Mo Xue commented with a scoff, "Master Jie Ming, you really haven’t changed a bit. Even now, you are worried about him but have you forgotten that you were also just as reckless as him? He did it for you, but you removed a part of your soul for a mere sword."
That was right. Jie Fu Lian had removed a part of his soul and infused it with the Changbo sword simply because he felt like doing so. At the time, he clearly knew the consequences of his own actions but he did not care. He never had hopes of ascending nor did he want to enter the cycle of reincarnation. He was an impulsive young man who only wanted to live once and die once.
However, he didn’t want Hua Tianshu to live like him.
Hua Tianshu had been born with the blessings of the heavens. He was a man who had a bright future ahead of him and diligently worked to attain immortality and ascend.
For Jie Fu Lian to die and disappear... It was something that seemed only natural, but for Hua Tianshu to also do the same... It was simply unacceptable!
At first, Jie Fu Lian was shocked and when the shock settled in, he felt disbelief and guilt overwhelm him.
"I don’t regret it," Hua Tianshu sighed as he muttered.
Jie Fu Lian’s eyebrows creased together and he suddenly felt anger wash over him.
"You!" He cried out as he accusingly pointed at Hua Tianshu, but although he wanted to say a lot, he was unable to speak.
Hua Tianshu turned to look at Jie Fu Lian and put his sword away as he spoke, "You can scold me all you want but I still won’t regret it. Even if I go back in time, I would still choose to do the same."
Jie Fu Lian’s eyes widened in shock and disbelief. He couldn’t help but glare at the man as he opened his mouth to say something but soon closed it like a fish gasping for air.
After a few minutes of silence, he somewhat calmed himself down and took out the sword Changbo from his spatial ring and closely inspected it.
As the demonic beast king had said, there was certainly another soul infused in this sword, protecting Jie Fu Lian’s soul from dispersing away.
Jie Fu Lian had always wondered how the Changbo had survived after his death since the sword should have also been destroyed along with his soul that was infused in it. Now, the mystery seemed to have finally been solved but Jie Fu Lian felt no sense of relief nor did he feel any joy.
His current emotions were a bit all over the place and even he couldn’t understand what he was feeling. There was anger, there was sadness, there was regret and there were also a bunch of other emotions that made it hard for him to think straight.
In the end, there was only a single thought left in his mind: ’This should’ve never happened...’
Guessing that the man would be blaming himself, Hua Tianshu quickly spoke up, "This wasn’t your fault. It was my decision and I take full responsibility for it."
Jie Fu Lian took a few steps back as he heard this and shook his head as he slowly replied, "No, it’s my fault... Since the beginning itself... It was all my fault..."
They should have never crossed paths. Be it in the past or in the present... They should’ve remained as mere strangers. If they did, perhaps Hua Tianshu would be able to unhesitantly pursue the path that he had been destined for. If they didn’t know each other, Hua Tianshu would still have all seven parts of his soul. He could enter the cycle of reincarnation and even ascend as an immortal.
If only... They didn’t know each other...
Hua Tianshu grabbed hold of Jie Fu Lian’s hand and stopped him from moving further away.
"Jie Ming, look at me." With his eyebrows creased together in worry, he weakly muttered out, "Stop thinking whatever it is that you are thinking."
Jie Fu Lian raised his head to meet the man’s eyes and when facing the man, the guilt felt even more unbearable.
"Jie Ming, I do not wish to ascend and I do not care whether I enter the cycle of reincarnation or not," Hua Tianshu firmly spoke, his eyes clear without any hint of hesitation, "I chose you. As long as you are here-"
"Why?!" Jie Fu Lian suddenly cut the man off as he shouted, "Why the hell would you do all that for me?! Hua Tianshu, we were enemies! Why would you sacrifice three parts of your soul just for an enemy?"
Hua Tianshu pursed his lips as he heard this question and didn’t dare say anything.
"Hua Tianshu, your actions don’t make any sense! Nothing you say makes sense! Why would you sacrifice your life and future to preserve my sword when I’d already died?!"
Hua Tianshu gulped but still refused to say anything.
"Hua Tianshu, answer me! Why would you do that?!"
"Because it’s you."
Jie Fu Lian titled his head in confusion as he heard this sudden response.
"There’s no other reason," Hua Tianshu let out a breath as he finally admitted, "I did it because it was your sword. It was precious to you and I couldn’t bare to let it be destroyed."
For the first time in his life, Jie Fu Lian carelessly threw the poor sword Changbo aside as he spoke, "Precious?! Your soul is much more precious than a mere sword!"
Mo Xue gasped in shock as he heard this and his eyes traveled between the sword and Hua Tianshu as he secretly wondered something.
Everyone knew how precious that ’mere’ sword was to Jie Fu Lian and perhaps, the man’s love for his sword was much greater than his love for himself. For him to throw away his precious sword for somebody else... The action clearly spoke more than what words could convey.
The pitiful sword seemed to be crying in distress after being thrown away by its Master but Jie Fu Lian didn’t seem to care about it.
Tears welled up in Jie Fu Lian’s eyes as he pointed at Hua Tianshu and spoke, "Your life is much more precious to me than that sword!"
Hua Tianshu’s eyes widened and he was visibly stunned speechless upon hearing Jie Fu Lian’s words. Never in his life had he expected such a confession from Jie Fu Lian.
He felt a little happy but when facing Jie Fu Lian’s crying face, he couldn’t help but feel guilty for being happy.
