Chapter 92: My name is Hua Lian

Hua Tianshu and Jie Fu Lian stayed quiet about Yao Fei’s disappearance and for the time being, it looked like Mo Xue was also unaware that his prisoner had run away.

At the end of the day, they were allowed to take the inner core Yu Sect disciples with them as they headed back.

Outside the cave, they found Duan Luoyang, still sleeping with his back leaning against a tree.

Hua Tianshu immediately dispelled the protective barrier that covered the man and Jie Fu Lian lightly kicked him awake.

Duan Luoyang slowly opened his puffy eyes and cluelessly looked up for a minute before suddenly realizing the situation.

He pushed himself off the ground and immediately questioned, "H-how did I pass out?!"

"You must have been very tired after everything that happened," Jie Fu Lian sighed as he patted the man’s back and reassured him, "You dozed off, but it’s okay. Your Master and I took care of everything here."

Duan Luoyang looked at Hua Tianshu for confirmation and Hua Tianshu nodded his head as he joined Jie Fu Lian’s shameless lie.

Duan Luoyang frowned as he looked down in guilt and apologized, "I came here to help but I only ended up being useless. I’m extremely sorry for my rude reckless behavior. I shouldn’t have fallen asleep like that."

"It’s okay," Jie Fu Lian beamed, as if he wasn’t the one who had knocked the man out, "Everybody makes mistakes."

One of the inner-core Yu Sect disciples, called Shi Yu Jing, politely bowed her head toward the three men as she spoke, "I am extremely thankful for Daoist Hua’s help."

Jie Fu Lian couldn’t help but point at himself as he wondered, ’Wasn’t I also the one who saved you...? Why is Hua Tianshu the only one getting your gratitude...?!’

Shi Yu Jing lifted her head and looked at Hua Tianshu with a soft pink blush on her cheeks as she shyly spoke, "I would like to repay your kindness. If there is anything I can do for you, please make sure to inform me."

Jie Fu Lian’s lips curled down in a frown as he glared at the woman but Shi Yu Jing didn’t seem to have any interest in him and hence, she naturally did not notice this reaction. Her eyes were focused only on Hua Tianshu and it almost seemed as if she couldn’t even see the other two who stood beside him.

"I’m afraid there isn’t anything that you can help me with," Hua Tianshu sighed but suddenly remembered something and immediately corrected himself as he spoke, "Actually, there is one thing. It is a trivial errand. I’m not sure if you’d want to-"

"I’ll do it!" Shi Yu Jing enthusiastically spoke up, not even listening to what the errand was.

Hua Tianshu lightly smiled as he heard this and reached his hand down to lift the mask that was supposed to be tied to his waist, but the only thing his hand grabbed was empty air.

With a small frown, Hua Tianshu looked down in confusion only to notice that the mask that Elder Ren had given them had disappeared.

Shi Yu Jing looked at the man’s action with great interest and when she saw the confused expression on his face, she couldn’t help but tilt her head as she asked, "Is there something wrong?"

Hua Tianshu sighed as he tried to remember how he had lost the mask, but in the end, he could not remember losing the mask. It had surely been with him the whole time...

"I’m sorry but it seems that you’ll no longer need to do the errand," Hua Tianshu spoke as he replied.

Shi Yu Jing felt a little disappointed as she heard this and questioned, "Then is there anything else I can help you with?"

Hao Tianshu shook his head as he firmly responded, "There isn’t."

Shi Yu Jing felt even more disappointed as she heard this and asked, "Then if you’ll allow it, I’d like to help you with the case that you are currently working on."

"I won’t be able to let you do that," Hua Tianshu replied, without even giving it a second thought.

Jie Fu Lian felt very satisfied as he saw Hua Tianshu’s unfazed reaction toward the woman who was clearly trying to get closer to him.

"That’s a shame," Shi Yu Jing sighed, "I wanted to properly thank you for saving me."

Hua Tianshu gave a polite smile as he heard this but said nothing more.

Jie Fu Lian coughed as he interrupted the conversation and spoke up, "You are giving us too much credit. We didn’t come here to specifically save you. We came here to save Sect Master Yao and somehow, ended up saving all the inner-core disciples of the Yu Sect that had been abducted by the demonic beast king."

Shi Yu Jing glared at Jie Fu Lian as she heard this but said nothing.

Jie Fu Lian smiled as he continued, "I’m sure that the rest of your martial sisters are also feeling thankful so we can’t have you be the only one to repay us the favor."

The other Yu sect disciples looked at Shi Yu Jing cautiously before they helplessly looked at each other, not knowing whether they were supposed to nod their heads and agree with Jie Fu Lian or support their Martial sister, Shi Yu Jing.

"I seem to have forgotten to ask your name," Shi Yu Jing chuckled as she looked at Jie Fu Lian and asked, "Who were you again?"

"..." For some reason, that question sounded awfully rude but Jie Fu Lian was not an irrational man who would pick fights with a woman, "My name is Hua Lian."

"Hua?" Shi Yu Jing raised her eyebrow as she glanced between Hua Tianshu and Jie Fu Lian.

Jie Fu Lian smugly smiled as he added, "Your thoughts are correct. It is the same ’Hua’ as Hua Tianshu."

"..." Shi Yu Jing was stunned speechless for a minute before she awkwardly laughed and concluded, "Ah! You must be his brother!"

"I’m not," Jie Fu Lian replied, "He only has a single sister and there are no cousins."

Shi Yu Jing tilted her head as she looked at Jie Fu Lian in confusion.

Jie Fu Lian’s smile widened but he didn’t bother spelling it out and simply let the woman think whatever she wanted to think.

"Um... I apologize for Junior martial sister’s rudeness," Another one of the inner-core Yu sect disciples spoke up as she bowed her head, "She has been looking up to Daoist Hua Tianshu for a very long time now. She must have been too excited to finally meet him. I hope you excuse her straightforwardness."

Compared to Shi Yu Jing, Jie Fu Lian found this woman to be much more bearable.

With a smile, Jie Fu Lian replied, "There is no need for such apologies. Brother Hua is quite famous so it is only natural that there would be people who’d admire him."

The woman nodded her head with a polite smile as she heard this and spoke, "I would like to thank fellow cultivators for helping us. If it hadn’t been for you, we might have never been able to get out of there. I would have liked to invite you back to our sect as guests but I’m afraid, in recent years, our Yu Sect hasn’t been doing well enough to entertain guests."

"It’s okay, we have already visited the Yu Sect." Jie Fu Lian quickly spoke up as he chuckled, "Since something came up, it looks like we won’t be able to go back with you. I hope you return safely. We’ll be separating from here."

The woman nodded her head as she heard this.

Shi Yu Jing frowned as she glared at Jie Fu Lian but although she looked like she had a lot to say, because of her senior martial sister, she could not say anything.

"Uncle Fu, what about the information we came here for? Didn’t you need information on Madam Jin?" Duan Luoyang titled his head in confusion as he questioned.

"We already got it," Jie Fu Lian reassured, "We were able to meet the sect master."

"Uncle Fu?" Shi Yu Jing repeated, unhappily. "I knew it! You lied, didn’t you?! Your name isn’t Hua Lian!"

Jie Fu Lian rolled his eyes as he ignored the woman. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

"Madam Jin? Do you perhaps mean Jin Shifeng?" Shi Yu Jing’s senior martial sister hesitantly questioned.

"Ah, that’s right. We came here to collect information regarding a case. Since we’ve already got what we came here for, we’ll be leaving."

"What case could it be?" The woman asked, her face looking a little pale.

The woman looked to be oddly worried ever since she heard Jin Shifeng being mentioned and Jie Fu Lian clearly managed to notice this.

"Were you perhaps close to her?" Hua Tianshu also noticed her worried expression and asked.

The woman gulped as she reluctantly revealed, "She was my senior martial sister. I used to look up to her."

"Used to?" Jie Fu Lian repeated, raising his eyebrow, "Do you not look up to her anymore?"

The woman clenched her jaw as she heard this question and looked away as she gritted out, "I dare not look up to her anymore."

"Huh?"

"She was the one who brought him here..." The woman blurted out in anger, "If she’s involved with such a man, I’m sure she’s undeserving of my respect."
