Chapter 368: Demon foresight

Kai was taken aback by her response. "The future? You can really see the future? Hmmm. That’s kind of hard to believe, you know. The future isn’t—"

"Set in stone, and is always changing and branching out. Yes, I know." The woman interrupted.

He squinted his eyes before responding. "What’s your name?"

"Ahh, yes, how rude of me. My name is Morrigan. I am one of the generals of the demon world, what you would call a Demon Lord."

Kai nodded. "I see. That’s very interesting. So—"

"Yes, our species is compatible and we can procreate." She answered Kai before he even said anything.

"That’s great to know. But for my next question, what is your reason for not wanting to attack us? We’re currently killing your people on the outside. We plan on killing your queen...kind of...you know how killing a demon king works, and we’re going to drive you all back to the demon world. Why do you wish to speak with us and are even willing to be my woman and bear my children? Not that I’m complaining about that last part."

"I’m able to see many futures, many branches of reality and possibility. And before I even entered the mortal world, I saw what you would do if I sided with my queen."

"And what did you see?" Nadya asked

"My death. But not only my death, but the complete annihilation of the demons on this continent, as well as anyone who sided or worked for Flexom, even if they had no choice."

Kai felt his ego boost. "I am very thorough."

"So you decided to take a gamble and speak with us so you could live?" Sasha wondered.

"You’re partly correct. You see, in the beginning, I was proud of being the general of my queen, but after many, many years, I grew tired of the way the demon world was. So, I wanted to change their ways. However, that’s easier said than done. But then, you arrived in this world." She pointed at Kai.

"Ahh, so you were able to see even when I arrived here, huh?"

"What? You’re not from this world?" Nadya asked

"Nope. You know who my dad is, right? He placed me here so I could...learn how to become a man, I don’t really know. However, Erika and Vanira took me in. You know the rest." Kai mixed some truth in with some lies, but it didn’t matter.

"That’s cool." Sasha was even more fascinated with Kai now.

"Sorry, please continue, Morrigan."

She nodded. "I followed your journey. In some branches, you stayed on Sarkylla. In others, you stayed on Eridani. However, after your encounter with your brother, all of the time branches merged into one possibility."

"You mean that all of the other realities where I stayed on a continent vanished?"

"Correct. After your brother, you would either stay on Eridani or keep traveling. The moment I saw that you kept traveling, I enacted my plan to meet you. But even then, it wasn’t foolproof."

"Ahh, your death. You saw the future where I didn’t care what you had to say."

She nodded. "Your futures have stopped branching into multiple paths and now only branch out into two. One where you do what you want, and the other where you don’t do what you want. Whichever you choose, the other reality gets erased, not happening at all. Normally, this would be impossible, but since you’re a demigod, you are a constant in the universe. All deities are. You can’t have a ’what if’ because you are the same you in every time, past, present, and future."

"That’s pretty trippy," Kai admitted. He knew about the cat in the box theory and knew that there was always a different reality, or time, where his actions were different. But to know that what he did was the same no matter what was pretty weird.

"Meh, you get used to it." Leo appeared upside down in the air.

"Knock or something, man."

"I greet the supreme lord of the universe." Morrigan stood up to bow.

"Hello. Can you see my future?" He asked

"You know that I cannot do that, sir. I’m only able to see the futures of beings that are on the same level as myself."

"Hold on." Kai’s head was getting pumped with too much information. "Same level as yourself? You’re a demigod?"

Morrigan smiled, but it wasn’t a happy smile. It was a smile that said, ’Oh, you poor child. How stupid can you be?’

"What?"

"Dude, all demon lords are demigods. I thought you knew this?"

"Clearly, I didn’t. Why are they so weak, though?"

"Because stronger demons can’t use their full strength in the mortal world. Only regular demons can. All of the demon lords and kings you faced weren’t at their full strength. I’m sure you already know that about demon kings, but the same applies to demon lords. Oh, and demon lords are gods as well." Leo further explained

"Mind...Blown!"

"Also," Morrigan added. "Demon Lords are like demon kings. We don’t die when killed in the mortal world. We respawn in the demon world."

"Mind extra blown! Well, so, what do you want to do? Team up or something? I don’t know what you want from me."

"I want you to help me change the demon world. I want to make it a place where demons are monsters and are respected by all. Just like—"

"Spoilers!" Leo interrupted Morrigan. "He’ll learn about that soon. Don’t tell him yet."

"Dude. Fuck off. Go make another child or something."

"Nope. You’re the only son I need right now! Best son ever!"

"Worst dad ever."

"Arghh! My heart! It hurts! C-Cassie! I’m dying! Please...help me!"

Kai kicked Leo out of the way. "So, how can I help you? I don’t think I can make you a demon lord or something."

"..."

"Oh. It’s like that, huh?"

She nodded. "It is. I have friends in the other demon lands. One for each continent. Yes, they are all women, and yes, they are all beautiful like me."

Kai silently celebrated.

"One of my friends has already succeeded on her end. And now, it’s up to the rest of us to do so as well."

Kai was down for a demon adventure. He couldn’t wait to tell the others.

"Alright. Sign me up!"
