Chapter 369: The Quarry

"Hold on a second, though. Are you not upset that I’m killing your people?" Kai hoped that his actions would make Morrigan upset or anything like that.

Morrigan shrugged. "I purposely chose all of them because they are useless and expendable. I do not care if they lose their lives. You can kill all of them if you wish. Just not the ones in his house. My maid servants are my trusted allies and friends."

"Noted. Well, this has been a lovely chat. Who would have thought that I would thought that this would have happened? I came here to kill you, and now we’re working together. Wanna fuck?"

Sasha elbowed him.

"What?"

"Stop thinking with your dick."

"That’s impossible for him to do, Sasha." Nadya teased. "Besides, I like it when he thinks with it."

"Leo," Kai called out to him.

"Yeah?"

"Leave."

"Aw. Okay. Bye." He teleported away.

"Okay. Now that we’re in a partnership, make sure Upper and Lower Sagebrook are taken care of."

"I will see to it." Morrigan bowed.

"No need to bow. Alright, let’s go, girls."

---

"Oh, you’re back. Took you long enough. Karumi and I were so bored that we had to make up a game to play. I call it, kick the head into the goal!"

Amaya and Karumi were covered in blood, surrounded by the bodies of demons and soldiers.

Kai looked around and saw blood and guts everywhere. It was a pretty horrible sight. One with a soft stomach would definitely lose their lunch if they saw this.

"What the actual fuck?! Did you have to make a mess?" Kai gagged as he stepped on some intestines, quickly snapping his fingers to make all of the blood and guts disappear. He also cleaned Amaya and Kaurumi since they clearly weren’t bothered by being bathed in blood.

Kai then told them of the conversation he had with Morrigan, and they were also as shocked as he was.

"Are we going to the demon world now?!" Amaya looked excited. While she never expected to travel to the demon world, she was up for the new adventure.

"Yeah, but not right now. We have to focus on liberating this continent first. After that...well, after that I don’t know where we will go, but I’m sure it will be fun. I’m sure the demon world would be a nice change of pace, though."

"Are we going back to the resistance headquarters now?" Karumi asked

"Yup, but wait just a second." Kai clapped his hands and removed everything femon and flexom from the town. He rebuilt and redesigned the buildings to further remove the influence of the oppressors and gave the land back into the hands of the people.

He even made a giant neon sign that said ’The resistance is here for you, fret not. Also, trust Marrigan, she’s on your side. The Goddess Rauna approves.’

"Sweet. Now we can leave."

---

"Ohh, boy. This might be pretty tough." Gwen and Kyana looked down at the place where the second temple was and saw a sight that they were not expecting.

Thousands of demons and soldiers were excavating the land, using people as slaves to do so. They created a massive quarry and dropped anyone who couldn’t complete their task, killing them.

"They’re using the people as slaves!" Horisia and Osiren were with Kyana and Gwen, and they were furious.

"The practice of slavery was outlawed centuries ago! How dare they bring that practice back!" Osiren nearly succumbed to his anger after seeing his people in that state.

"Gwen, Kayana, do you think we can take them all out without raising any alarms while also destroying this quarry?" Horisia asked

"Hmm. Yeah, it might not be that difficult. However, I don’t know if destroying the quarry is the right idea. The fact that they are here means that they know that the temple is here as well." Gwen assumed.

"And look at how deep it is. They still haven’t found the temple yet. This means that it’s deep underground." Kyana added.

Osiren didn’t want to believe that they knew where the temple was. "Do you think they could be mining in the wrong spot?"

Kyana shrugged. "That’s a possibility. But the fact that they knew it was here in the first place means that someone on their side is very informed about the temples, or you have a traitor within your ranks."

Both Horisia and Osiren clenched their teeth. It was already difficult trying to stay hidden while saving their home, but to know that someone they work with, someone they trust, would betray them made them furious.

Horisia calmed herself and then stood up. "Gwen, you help me take out these bastards and free the people. Osiren and Kyana, you two, find out where the temple is."

"Got it." Orisen and Kyana moved to a different location to have a better vantage point to survey the quarry.

"Heh, I’ve always wanted to try out my new power." Gwen morphed into her dragon form; however, her scales turned pitch black instead of red alongside her hair and eyes.

Her body started pulsing with black lightning and the energy of destruction, a gift from Kai. While it wasn’t as potent as his own, even when he was mortal, it was still extremely powerful.

The sky rumbled, crackling with lightning, and the wind started blowing violently. Gwen sent a bolt of black lightning into the clouds, turning them pitch black, and clenched her fist. Then, sounding like the roar of a dragon, hundreds of black lightning bolts rained from the sky and onto the quarry. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

"Thunder Dragon Storm, the name of this spell," Gwen smirked with pride.

Horisia was extremely impressed by Gwen’s power. The woman wasn’t even a hero or demigod, yet her power was this strong. It made her inner fire ignite, and she wanted to show off as well.

"While I might not have something like that, I can do this." Horisia’s eyes started glowing gold, her hair doing the same. She started floating, then a golden avatar of herself formed around her body, growing to the size of a giant.

Golden light shone so bright that she resembled a sun, and with that light, she shone it on the demons and soldiers, burning them to a crisp.
