The Hero of Hypnosis-Chapter 371: Are we in an arena?
"Nothing but darkness so far." Osiren was in the front of the group, leading the way, even though he had no idea where he was going and was the leading cause of activating the traps in the temple.
"And a lot of spiderwebs. Are you okay, Kai?" Gwen grabbed his hand and pressed it against her chest. "I know that bugs give you the creeps, so don’t be afraid to lean on me if you get scared."
"Shut up, I’m fine." Kai removed his hand
"Fufu, sure, baby, sure."
"Gwen, don’t tease him anymore; that was a one-time thing."
Kai nearly teared up hearing Kyana have his back. "Thank you, Kyana." He hugged her tightly.
"You’re welcome. I don’t want Gwen to hurt your feelings."
And Kai pushed her away.
"Hahahaha!"
Osiren paused. "I see a light. That could be the room where the orb is. Let’s go!" Before he could run, Kai grabbed his shirt.
"Slow your horses. Did you forget that this place is booby trapped? Take it easy, man."
"Y-Yes. My apologies."
They all took it slow, being careful as they made their way to the light. Upon reaching it, they saw a similar room to the previous temple with a pillar or pedestal. holding an orb.
"This is it!" Osiren could feel the energy radiating off the orb. He could feel it calling to him.
Since Gwen and Kyana weren’t with them last time, they asked what happened next.
"You remove the orb, and a trial starts," Kai explained. "Go ahead and remove it, Osiren."
The prince nodded and took the orb off the pedestal. Suddenly, the entire room started to shake, then morphed into something completely different.
Before long, they were in a totally new area, one that was clearly not the temple.
They were in some sort of arena with thousands of people yelling in excitement to see what the challengers would be facing today.
"People of the Arena! We have four new challengers today! These people have come from a faraway land to test their strength. Can they prove their power, or will they fall like many others? PLACE YOUR BETS!" An announcer spoke.
Osiren was so confused by the area they were in. He had been to every place on the continent, present, old, and ancient, and he had never seen a colosseum like this before. "Did we go back in time or something?"
Kai was able to manipulate time to a certain extent and knew what time travel would feel like. In fact, his own mother reversed time in front of him before as well.
"Nah, we didn’t go back in time. This is another illusion. But it’s an illusion based on past events."
"So is this a test like the one in the first temple?" Osiren asked
Kai shook his head. "No. This illusion is real, well, as real as it can be." Kai stomped on the ground, and it cracked. "See."
"Kai, people are coming toward us?"
Just as Gwen said, two people walked up to their group. "Challengers, decide who will be fighting first. The rest of you head to the waiting area. You may watch the match from there."
"Fighting?" Osiren was confused.
"Just go along with it." Kai tapped his shoulder. "So, rock, paper, scissors, anyone?"
Osiren had no idea what that game was, so Kai quickly explained it to him. After understanding it. They all played. By pure luck, Gwen was the one to lose, so she would be fighting first.
"Dammit. Kai, you cheater."
"How the hell did I cheat?"
"You can see events in slow motion!"
"I don’t use my super perception in games like this. I take rock, paper, scissors very seriously." Kai was serious.
"Fine. Whatever."
The two people who spoke to them separated the group, one of them taking Kai, Osiren, and Kyana to the waiting area. Then the other one explained the rules to Gwen.
The rules were simple. Kill or be killed.
Gwen liked those rules. Though she didn’t know how fair it would be because she was immortal.
"Challenger, state your name!" The announcer shouted.
"Gwen."
"Challenger, Gwen! Are you ready to risk your life for—" 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
"Hurry the fuck up, man. I’m trying to get this over with."
The announcer was silent for a bit before moving on. "Challenger two! Step into the arena!"
On the other side of the arena, a gate opened, and a tall, hulking man stepped forward, dressed in armor. He had a shield and a mace on his back.
"CHALLENGERS! READY YOUR WEAPONS!"
The hulking man stook a stance, pulling out his shield and mace.
Gwen just looked at the man with no interest at all.
"FIGHTTTTTTTTTTT!"
"I’m going to kill you!!!" The hulking man charged at Gwen and slammed his mace on her face, the weapon shattering upon contact.
Gwen jabbed her fingers into the man’s stomach, then lifted him up into the air. She then grabbed his leg then ripped him in half.
"HOLY SHIT!"
"SHE JUST RIPPED THAT MAN IN HALF!"
"HOW STRONG IS SHE?!?
"W-Wow! This woman killed her opponent with just two attacks! This is it for round one! Who’s ready for round two?!"
"Hold on, how many rounds are there?" Gwen was not interested in being here longer than she had to. She just wanted to get the orb, and if what Kai said was true, they still had two more to collect.
"Three rounds." The announcer said.
"How many opponents will I have?"
"Five. One for round one, two for round two, and three for round three."
Gwen rolled her eyes and sighed. "Just bring them all in. I’ll deal with them at the same time."
"Ohhhh!"
"Do you hear that? She wants to fight all other challengers at the same time!"
"You heard it from her, folks! Bring out the other challengers!" The announcer shouted.
Five people walked through the arena gate, each of them eager to rip Gwen apart after she insulted them the way she did.
"Meh. None of you is even that interesting. But I have to do this for that orb, so let’s get this over with."
"You will be eating you—GARGHH!" A blast of fire took the person’s head.
The other contestants panicked. "W-Wait! The announcer didn’t tell us to fight yet!"
"I don’t give a fuck!"
