The Hero of Hypnosis-Chapter 440: It’s getting kind of cold out here
"Haah! Haah! Nngh! I-I did it." Charlotte was panting heavily as she finished killing the remaining assassins. Her body was bloody, bruised, and she was out of breath.
During her battles, Kai did not heal her because he didn’t want her to expierence what it felt like having to fight a prolonged battle where you aren’t able to rest up and heal.
It was pretty harsh, but he knew this would build her up better than having her be healed after every round. In fact, she started learning how to dodge and block better to avoid getting hurt at all.
Now, after he finally killed the last assassin, Kai healed her body, but didn’t restore her stamina.
"T-Thank you." She got up slowly, still breathing heavily, and walked over to the carriage as she was done for the day.
Kai didn’t blame her for wanting to leave. He would want to if he were in her position as well.
"Karumi." He called out to her.
"Yes?" She appeared behind him as fast a lightning.
"Are you done?"
"Yup. I was just having some extra fun, hehe." Blood was all over her body, not her blood, of course, and she had a smile on her face.
"We’re going back to the estate, so let’s go."
"Wait. I smell nature changing." She closed her eyes and sniffed the air.
"Hmm? What do you mean?"
She kept sniffing before she answered. "There’s a storm coming, a blizzard, a strong one."
Kai squinted, sensing nature around him. His natural senses weren’t as finely tuned as Karumi’s, even though he was stronger than her. Even as a demigod, he still needed to train himself.
"I can slightly feel what you’re talking about. Let’s head back."
Karumi turned into a small fox, jumped on his back, then Kai touched the carriage and teleported back to the estate.
---
"Fucking blizzard! This came out of nowhere!" The Second Prince was sitting in his room, waiting for the news of Kai’s death. The assassins he ordered told him that they would finish the job today, and that was 3 hours ago.
"Your Highness, maybe the blizzard halted their progress." The knight attending Philip suggested.
"That could be the case. This blizzard is a lot more intense than the previous ones. Still, I don’t like the fact that I have to wait even longer for results." 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
As the knight was about to respond, a magic circle appeared over his hand, and a letter appeared.
"It’s for you, your highness." The knight handed Philip the letter.
Philip took the letter, opening it to read it, and once he did, he nearly fell out of his seat.
"What the hell? How...When did this happen? No, this is a good thing. Ha! As much as I hate you, Kai, you really did me a good thing!" Philip’s smile was getting wider and wider.
"Good news, your highness?"
"Great news! That idiot Kai killed one of the Ducal families! The one supporting my eldest brother! While the fact that they were wiped out is pretty scary, my older brother will take a huge hit from this."
The knight couldn’t believe his ears. "T-That is scary, but amazing news! But your highness, this Duke family is the weakest out of all of them. And the prince is still being supported by a Grand Duke."
"I know, but this is still a big hit. Regardless of their power or importance, a duke is still a duke. Losing one will hit extremely hard."
"That is true."
"Your highness!" A messenger burst into his room without alerting himself. "Bad news!"
"I’ll let this slide since you said you have bad news. If this were any other case, you would have lost your head. Now speak."
"T-Thank you. The blizzard is hitting the kingdom way harder than normal, and a lot of the land outside of the capital walls has been overtaken by it, making them unlivable. But that’s not all! Some villages and towns have been leveled by an avalanche."
Philip wasn’t one to care about the likes of those who weren’t his people, so he wasn’t really bothered by the news; the messenger knew this as well. But the prince knew what the messenger was trying to convey.
"My brothers are capitalizing on this, aren’t they?" Philip asked
"Yes, your highness!"
"Hmmm. Let’s go, we would fall behind those two."
---
"I WANT HIM DEAD!" The First Prince shouted, slamming his hand on the table, shattering it into many pieces.
"We need to deal with this Kai fellow right away!"
"How dare he make his spirit beast slaughter a duke’s family and not think that there would be any consequences!"
The First Prince’s faction was all in agreement that they needed to eliminate Kai. While the destruction of noble houses was common during civil wars and succession wars, there were still rules to these things.
"Your highness. How about we do this? The blizzard that is going on right now has destroyed parts of the kingdom. Why don’t we use this opportunity to make ourselves look good in the eyes of the people while shaming the Third Prince for not following the normal procedures of succession wars?"
"That sounds like a good idea, but what would we say is the cause of the blizzard?" The prince asked
The man smiled. "Kai’s spirit beast went wild and destroyed the ducal family is the cause. Its intense power and wild actions kicked up a storm that caused a blizzard and an avelaunch."
The prince nodded. "We’ll go with that."
---
"I’m so fucked!" The third prince was held up in his room, dreading the fact that Kai’s spirit had taken out an entire noble family. He already knew that his brothers would use this against him, and he wasn’t ready for the outrage.
"Y-Your highness, maybe we can ask Kai why he did what he did? I mean, regardless of how you see it, he did help you in a way."
"Ughh!" His attendant was right, but that didn’t mean the public would agree. At least he learned that Kai’s spirit didn’t kill the maids or butlers, only the blood of the duke’s house. However, he did leave lots of people without jobs.
"Whatever, let’s just find a way to deal with this blizzard. I’m sure my brothers are already planning on gaining more influence by acting like the heroes of this event."
