Chapter 441: Building Prince Henry’s image

It had been only a week since the blizzard hit the kingdom and all hell broke loose. Many citizens outside the walls of the capital lost their land, homes, and livelihood. Blizzards weren’t anything new to this land, but they had never seen a blizzard so intense and catastrophic before.

Hundreds of thousands of people were missing, homeless, and struggling to survive. Because blizzards were normal, there were shelters that would aid those who lost their homes, but these shelters were filled to capacity, causing more and more people to be homeless and die from the cold or starvation.

The kingdom always stocked up on food for emergencies, but this caught them so off guard that their food reserves were going through extremely quickly. Only high-ranking nobles didn’t struggle during this time, but even then, they still felt the effect the blizzard was having on the kingdom.

"Hmmm, this blizzard doesn’t feel normal at all." Kai touched the snow that fell onto his hand, feeling a power coming from it.

"This is artificial, not a product of nature." He sensed a bit of Pogenitor Decay in the snow. Not enough to hurt anyone, but enough to alter the environment, as it was doing right now.

"Are you going to check it out?" Karumi wondered.

"Yeah, but we should make a call first. Since we’re acting as the retainers or whatever for the Third Prince, might as well make him look good, right?"

Karumi shrugged. She genuinely didn’t care what they did or didn’t do. "What do you have in mind?"

---

"So, what is your reason for calling me?" The third prince asked, looking as if he hadn’t slept for days.

Axel had summoned a meeting for the nobles and officials who supported the third prince, since Kai had a plan to make his influence grow even more.

Everyone on this council trusted Kai since he was a powerhouse and even destroyed one of the ducal families of the kingdom. There was a lot of paperwork, but a win is a win.

"I’ll build hundreds of shelters, all in your name, of course, for the citizens who lost their homes. I’ll also provide food and water for all of them, clothes, and even areas to sleep. I’ll also send out a search party to rescue those who are missing." Kai said proudly.

"Okay, knowing you, I’m sure you can get things done. However, my prothers wont take kindly to you doing this. They might even try to frame things as me taking advantage of the citizens, or even say that I stole their idea or something."

Kai also expected this, and he already had a plan for things. "Don’t worry. There is an easy way to solve this issue, and that’s to do everything publicly."

Such a simple solution, and everyone was impressed that Kai thought of that. Normally, when it came to nobles and royals, doing things in private was best; that way, no one would be able to steal your work or ideas.

But if you did everything in public, people would see that YOU are the one who is doing these things, and they wouldn’t be able to do anything about it.

"What do you need me to do?" The prince asked

"Make a formal announcement to the entire kingdom, telling them that you will do what I said I would do. I have some friends who can help out with things, and they will work for you. You can also say that you are working with all of the nobles under you to get this done. This way, it’s harder for your brother’s factions to steal your credit, and it will look like a joint effort, making all of you nobles look good as well."

Kai’s plan was good, and everyone was on board with it. So, they enacted their plan and went to work.

As Kai suggested, Prince Henry made a formal, public announcement to the entire kingdom, telling them his plans and what he would do to help. His two brothers did the same as well, but their efforts had been for naught since everything was too overwhelming with how bad the blizzard was.

Prince Henry didn’t act right away, following Kai’s words, since it would look too convenient. But after a few days, things started to change.

The friends Kai called were just clones of himself that he made look different since he could shapeshift. They all looked handsome, of course. He couldn’t allow himself to look ugly, even if they were clones.

These clones of his built large shelters called ’Prince Henry’s Haven’, and welcomed everyone who needed help.

By the thousands, people swamped into these Havens, begging for help and acting chaotically. Kai’s clones, who also acted as security, set these people straight, telling them that these shelters were for everyone who needed help, and if they acted up, putting others in jeopardy, they would be killed.

One guy tested to see whether they were telling the truth, and his head was on a spike in front of the Haven the next day.

There was a total of 100 havens that were built, each of them able to hold over 100,000 people. These were more than enough to house everyone who lost their homes.

Kai was also able to create an infinite amount of food and water, so no one went hungry or thirsty. There was also a barrier around each Haven, preventing the cold from entering the place.

During all of this, Kai sent his clones on rescue missions to find the missing people. He found all of them, some dead, some alive, some starved, and some injured, even to the point of near death.

He healed all of those who were still living, but didn’t do anything to the dead. Still, he took their bodies back to their families so they could have closure.

Those who were reunited with their families were the happiest they had ever been. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

After all of this, it was safe to say that the public opinion of Prince Henry and the nobles around them skyrocketed like crazy. Even the nobles who were neutral were moved by his efforts.

He also gave food and water to the citizens who weren’t or were just slightly affected by the storm, making sure they don’t go hungry.

And to put the cherry on top, Prince Henry even aided those who weren’t a part of his faction, showing kindness to others even if they were his enemies.

These nobles wanted to decline, but they weren’t in a position to do so since it meant running out of resources and starving. This included the Royal Family.

The Third Prince was now the one whom the citizens wanted to become the King.
