Chapter 261: Different (2)

Eleanor was distracted from their conversation by the mention of tea. She had been looking forward to trying more tea and now the time had come. She crossed her fingers, hoping that this tea would be a new flavour.

Eleanor looked around and found only she was excited. Was it because she enjoyed drinking tea while writing her stories? It always puts her in a good mood. If the others did not want tea then it would be all the better for her.

Hazel was surprised by Julia’s visit since she had told her that the women would be serving themselves but with this room having something for her guests to drink, Julia was one step ahead to save the day. "Thank you. How is the gathering going? Are the remaining ladies behaving? I will rejoin them in a moment."

Though Hazel liked being with the group of women she was with now, she still had a duty of entertaining the other guests though she was quite ready for the party to end. She was tired of the drama, and just tired in general then she wanted to go to Tobias to continue where they left off.

"They were shaken up about Sophia getting dragged out but they have resumed what they were doing. Shall I tell them you will be arriving shortly?" Julia asked.

Julia set the teacups before each woman, her attention going to the duchess who had disrespected Grant. If she had the chance, she would love to get rid of the duchess or somehow create an accident that would have her mask fall off.

What was the duchess trying to hide and what was Hazel trying to do with having these kinds of women around? Hazel was trying too hard to seem like a queen who adored everyone in Julia’s opinion. Hazel should stick to entertaining women of the same status as her instead of trying to entertain women far below her.

Julia would never think that Hazel was the kind of queen to care about anyone. She was only putting on a show.

Hazel thought about it and then answered, "Yes. In about five minutes let everyone gather in the room. We will finish up there and share the gifts that were put together. Thank you as always."

Hazel wanted just a little more time alone with her friends then she would go back to end the party.

Julia backed away from the group, standing on the sidelines to watch the women pick up their tea. She had carefully placed which ones she had tampered with before the women she was after. Julia never thought there would be a day that she would enjoy hearing news of someone other than the queen losing a child.

The king had surprisingly kept Hazel by his side long without thinking of taking another woman but would the duke be the same? Most men would not want to keep a woman who could not give them a child for long.

News that the mouthy duchess had lost a baby should please Grant. Julia only had to be certain that she didn’t make any slip-ups for anyone to find out it was her doing now or in the future as Grant eventually wanted the duke to be loyal to him. Knowing that one of Grant’s people was behind this might ruin everything. freēwēbηovel.c૦m

Eleanor was the first to pick up her tea. If only she had a quiet space to write, she would continue another page of the new book she wanted to sell. Today’s drama would make for an excellent part of her story.

"The palace seems to get the best of everything. I have never come across such a good mix of tea when I am in the market. I’m jealous," Eleanor said.

If only she could take a pot to share with her aunt who had to be nervously awaiting her return.

Hazel enjoyed watching Eleanor be so captivated by the tea. These days, Hazel had grown tired of tea after having too much of it. Eleanor could have as much of it as she liked so it wouldn’t go to waste. "I can get the supplier’s name for you. You can have mine."

Julia couldn’t believe her hard work was for nothing because of a woman who didn’t know how to stick to her share. All the others were drinking what was given to them so why did this woman whose status shouldn’t allow her to be here, have Hazel’s tea?

Before Eleanor could reject the tea, Hazel said, "I am not in the mood for any more tea. As soon as you are finished with the tea we will head back. The host has been away far too long."

Eleanor gladly accepted the tea. It would be rude to turn down a gift from the queen as her aunt would say. She smelled the tea just as she did with the one she had before and found that there seemed to be two scents.

Eleanor moved the tea away from her nose as she suddenly had an urge to throw up. One of the scents was familiar but she could not put her finger on it. It bothered Eleanor that she couldn’t place what the mix of tea might be since she was good at picking out what was used.

The queen’s tea was different from her own but she had to assume that it was normal for Hazel to have a special blend. Eleanor drank the tea, once again feeling the need to vomit but she didn’t want to show that she disliked the tea.

Julia gripped the tray she was holding. All she wanted to do was throw it at Eleanor for getting in her way. She should have Grant get rid of Eleanor just for being so greedy that she took the queen’s tea.

It concerned Julia for a moment that Eleanor seemed bothered by the tea, but what would these women know about what was placed in the tea?

Julia smiled, happy to know that if Eleanor had been sleeping around, she had just rid herself of having a child. She could leave the room enjoying the fact that this annoying woman and the duchess had drunk the tea.

"It was lovely," Eleanor said, placing the empty cup down. She needed water or juice to get rid of the taste which she couldn’t figure out. This was going to spoil the rest of the day if she could not figure out what was the mix.

"You drank it quite fast. Maybe I should have prepared more for you," Hazel offered.

"I don’t want to keep everyone here over me drinking tea," Eleanor declined the offer. Another cup of that tea and she might not be able to hold herself back from vomiting.
