Chapter 316: Sharing news (3)

"I have already sent an invitation for them to come to the palace the same day as my family so we can share the news at once. They will still be our child’s grandparents and regardless of where your mother stands with me, I will not keep our child away from her. But a guard must be near when your mother is here," Hazel quickly added.

Hazel needed to see some more change in Tabitha before she could ever think of letting Tabitha be alone with her child.

"So, you do not trust her. We should just let them find out at the same time as the kingdom. She will only warm up to you because you are now carrying our heir," Tobias said, wanting to leave his mother where she was now.

"There will be many people warming up to me now that I am pregnant. It will get worse in the future if this child is a boy. I just don’t want there to come a day when you find it unfair that we informed my family before the kingdom but did not do the same for your parents," Hazel explained.

There was a good chance that Tobias would one day be as close to his father or mother as he was before Hazel came into his life. When they all looked back on this day, her kindness would be remembered.

"I am not seeking to get close to your mother and be as I am with my mother. I simply have enough respect to let them know we are going to have a child. I would want my child in the future to tell me if they are having a baby. Is that not a good enough reason?" Hazel asked, trying to get Tobias on her side.

"Do as you wish as long as you do not plan to force me to speak to either one of them. We were left in a good place to see each other and keep our conversations short like at the ball. The only person from my side you need to be excited to tell is Sofia," Tobias said, taking a seat on the bed and then offering his hand to Hazel for her to join him.

"I will tell Sofia tonight. What if I were to send a letter to your uncle-"

"Don’t. He stays out of the palace and stopped showing interest in being king, but personally sending him notice that we are having a child would upset him. Why would he want to hear about a baby from us when my arrival stopped his path to becoming king?" Tobias questioned.

His uncle was living a quiet life out of the palace and Tobias would like to avoid getting him started.

"I see. Then there aren’t many relatives on your side for us to inform. You don’t speak to most as they either want power or you just do not like them. Once again, we are left only speaking to my family. It is not enough," Hazel said as she sat beside Tobias.

The Castros weren’t that close to each other and while she had plenty of relatives she did not want around since they would love to use her, Hazel still had plenty of relatives she could call upon to share her news.

Tobias didn’t care about having more relatives around him. He was satisfied with the family he started with Hazel, her parents, and their friends. His circle had always been small and he would like to keep it that way.

"I prefer to just have you and the baby. Sofia as well when she is not giving me a headache. I will never take her around the town alone again as she talks too much. I can still hear her speaking now. What?" Tobias questioned, confused as to why Hazel looked at him like she could not believe it.

"I’m sorry. I just get amazed when you are tired of someone speaking so much. I wonder who else has the same habit as Sofia? I wish for our child to be more like me when it comes to speaking. To have two of you in my ears. I did not consider it being like that," Hazel muttered, fearing the talking she had to endure.

Tobias touched her belly. He didn’t see what was wrong with having a talkative child. "I shall enjoy hearing them speak. When they annoy you, you only need to send them to me. You mustn’t let your child hear that their talking might annoy you. You can’t be upset if they grow to love me more."

"Of course, I wouldn’t make that known to a baby. How could you want a talkative child but struggle to put up with Sofia when she gets in the mood to do a lot of talking?" Hazel questioned, failing to see how that would work.

"Sofia isn’t my child so I don’t need to put up with her talking. We’ve waited long to have a child. Nothing about what they do will bother me," Tobias replied.

"I think you will sing a different tune when they are here. I want to go for a walk around the garden to collect a few flowers to put together a bouquet for my mother. I also need to avoid rumours because I am keeping to my room. So," Hazel offered her hand to Tobias. "Will you come with me?"

"Of course. You must know that I look forward to the days when you will be so heavy that I must lift you to carry you around. How much longer do you think it will be before you get bigger?" Tobias asked, pinching Hazel’s cheeks.

Daisy shook her head, fearing for the king’s life as it was such a bad thing to speak of now.

Hazel frowned, annoyed both by his words and by him troubling her face. She didn’t want to think of how big she would grow in the future. "Tobias," she smiled sweetly. "Please leave my side. I shall walk with Daisy."

"Wait, I didn’t mean- Wait," Tobias said, not knowing how to explain himself. He knew that he should avoid anything that came to weight but he couldn’t help thinking how cute she would be. "At least you didn’t kick me out of the bedroom."

"I wouldn’t speak so soon," Hazel warned.
