Chapter 317: Sharing news (4)

Daisy feared how many more times the king would get thrown out of his bedroom if he didn’t watch what he said. How could he be so careless to mention the queen’s weight right now? Someone needed to find a book for things the king could not say to a pregnant woman.

"I’m sure the king meant well with his words," Daisy said, trying to help Tobias.

"I know he did but he says the wrong thing at the wrong time. It is hard to believe that he thinks his sister is the only one who talks too much. I do enjoy tossing him out of the room once in a while so I can have some peace to read. I do think they all talk too much," Hazel spoke softly so those passing by wouldn’t hear what she thought of the other Castros.

Daisy smiled, looking down for a moment as she tried to hide it. She could never understand how the former queen didn’t take a liking to Hazel when Hazel was so fun.

Hazel had her moments of being serious as she was still the queen, but Daisy had the wonderful opportunity of seeing Hazel when she was carefree.

"We mustn’t speak of it here," Hazel said as they started to pass maids and visitors in the palace. "Should I announce that they do not need to bow or curtsy each time they pass me? If they pass me three times, they must bow. It looks tiring."

"Maybe make it that they only do it once. Should you allow them to ignore greeting you, some of them will ignore other things they are to do in your presence. You have been working tirelessly to shine a light on your position as queen. I would not change this," Daisy offered her opinion.

Hazel smiled as she enjoyed how Daisy was these days. Daisy had always been reliable but Hazel noticed how much more useful she was these days. "Daisy, I hope you aren’t planning to leave the palace anytime soon. I have grown too fond of you."

"I won’t ever leave you, Your Majesty. I shall stay by your side," Daisy promised. She looked forward to taking care of the Castro heir. It was weird to think even now that she had such an important job in the palace since she had started from the bottom.

"I don’t know about forever since you will have to leave the palace at some point to have a family of your own and you may grow tired of all the schemes here. I worry about you being targeted because you are so loyal to me. I shall give you a guard," Hazel decided.

Daisy didn’t think she needed a guard as she was doing her part in being aware of her surroundings but it couldn’t hurt to have one of the handsome palace guards by her side. Maybe then she could have a secret romance of her own in the palace. "I humbly accept the offer."

"I shall speak with the king and have one picked for you by dinner. My mother should be arriving at any time now so we must get the flowers right now," Hazel said, wanting to be prepared for her mother’s visit.

Helena returned to the countryside with her husband and child. As promised, Nathan and Renee stayed in Lockwood to be with Hazel, but she was urging them to leave if they wanted to when it came time for Helena to give birth.

So far, it seemed that Helena was doing well without them since she had her mother-in-law to help her and her husband realised he also had to be involved in taking care of her.

Hazel wished to see him again to give him a warning that should he ever not take care of Helena, as queen, Hazel would have the king’s army show up at his doors. It would never matter that Helena was old enough to take care of herself. Hazel would always do her part as a big sister.

Hazel continued on her way to the garden where her statue was placed and started to gather the flowers she needed as she awaited her mother’s arrival.

Close to an hour passed and with it came the moment Hazel was waiting for.

"Hazel, how long have you been sitting out here? Look at how many you have cut," Renee said, taken aback by the amount of flowers on the table beside Hazel.

"Mother!" Hazel called, putting the flower in her hands down on the table. "I got a little carried away after making a bouquet for you. I want to send some to my friends along with an invitation to come to the palace. Did you find your way here well?"

Renee greeted Hazel with a hug. "I did. I saw the king on my way here and he says you are threatening to kick him out of your room. As curious as I am, I don’t want to know what happened. You two seem to be having fun these days. Let me help you."

Renee sat down to help Hazel make the bouquets for her friends. "What is the occasion? Something good happened with one of your friends?"

"Yes. Daisy, please tell the guards to stop anyone else from coming here," said Hazel.

Renee watched as the maid quietly left. "Is there someone troubling you?"

"Only my dear husband who will find himself sleeping elsewhere for telling you what I said. There isn’t much trouble from the court. Now that I have started to be more involved in it, when they see me they try to avoid me as they think I am coming to question something they did. Who would have ever thought getting them to leave me alone just required going to their work?" Hazel questioned.

Renee smiled, enjoying seeing Hazel in a good mood. "I certainly wouldn’t. It is good to see you being better. Your father has been worried about you going to court so regularly. I can’t get him to stop."

"He can stop worrying since I won’t be going to the court for a while since I want to be careful. The palace doctor I visit now says it’s early so I have to be careful with what I do for the safety of the baby," Hazel revealed.

Renee nodded her head. "It is true. At the beginning, you should just- For what?" Renee questioned as Hazel’s words only now settled in her head. "Baby?"

Hazel placed a finger on her lips, telling her mother not to be loud. "We haven’t shared the news with anyone so you mustn’t be loud. It turned out that everyone was right. We were meant to have a child one day."

Renee dropped the flower she was starting to cut. Her right hand covered her mouth to stop herself from being loud and revealing the secret. "You! Hazel, how could you torture me by asking that I be quiet? Congratulations, Hazel. My baby will be a mother."

Hazel laughed at how hard it was for her mother to sit still and be quiet. "Thank you. We’ll try to share the news with everyone soon so you don’t need to contain your excitement for too long."

"Please do. Oh dear. Your father won’t be able to stop worrying any time soon," Renee realised. "He’s going to want to be in the palace all the time. How are you going to tell him?"

"Seeing your reaction, I want to tell him today so I can see it. What if I invite him for dinner along with Tobias’s parents? They are yet to know," said Hazel.

Renee wasn’t thrilled to see Tabitha but she still nodded her head. "That sounds lovely." freeωebnovēl.c૦m
