The Overnight Chosen Wife: darling, kiss me deeper-Chapter 589: Stay with me
Chapter 589: Stay with me
"Honey, you have to eat something." Xingyu pleaded with Luna when he heard her stomach rumble for the second time. She had been sitting in the same position since they got to the hospital, staring in the direction of the door as she waited to be let in to visit her sister. All his attempts at convincing her to go home and have some food and rest fell on a deaf ear.
He was starting to worry that she wasn’t hearing a word he said, that the shock was making her want to withdraw herself from the real world. He gently tapped her shoulder. He hated to do this but he couldn’t watch any longer.
"If you don’t eat, you will be weak. You wouldn’t want Lanni to be worried about you, would you?"
As expected, the mention of her sister got a reaction from her. She burst into a fresh bout of tears. He hugged her, letting her cry against his shoulder.
"Lanni is a fighter. She will be okay. Let’s get you something to eat, okay?"
She nodded, but she was only leaving because she wouldn’t be allowed to eat in the waiting area. She would have asked him to buy her food instead.
Xingyu held her waist and tapped Xiehan’s shoulder. When the man looked up at him and glared with a pair of murderous eyes, he knew it was best to leave him alone for now.

Luna could only stomach a few bites of food and even so, she had to force them down. She ate a few spoonfuls of soup under Xingyu’s persuasion but couldn’t wait to rush back to the hospital.
It was better than her starving so he let her be. When they got back, he was puzzled to see his mother and he had brought over the kids.
"Mother, this is a hospital." He gently berated her.
"I know. I had to, okay?"
When Luna saw her kids, she crouched down and hugged them, squeezing both of them in her arms. She had been so worried that she nearly forgot she was a mother too.
"I’m so sorry, babies. Are you okay?"
Xinghe answered for them. "They miss you. Linhou is mostly okay but Mumu is distressed."
Of course she would be distressed. She had seen her aunt getting pushed into an ambulance with blood covering her lower body and then she couldn’t find her mother. She had cried her heart out and Xinghe couldn’t pacify her, so she opted to find Luna.
Luna ran a hand down her daughter’s hair. "Aunty will be fine. The doctors are doing their best."
She wasn’t certain whether the words were meant to convince her daughter or herself. She held her kids until she couldn’t crouch anymore, then she let them run back to their grandmother.
Linhou sat on Xinghe’s lap while Xiaomu slipped away to Xiehan. She stood before him silently and studied him curiously, before finally climbing onto the seat beside him with difficulty.
He barely registered her presence until she placed her tiny hand on his back and started rubbing up and down like Luna would do to her when she was sad.
He turned to glance at her, realizing that she looked sad too. He picked her up and held her in his embrace, and she kissed his cheeks. "You are okay. I got you."
His heart shattered. If he hadn’t been such a loser and messed up, it would only be a few years before his son or daughter would learn to mimic the adults.
He would be counting down the possible number of months left before he heard an extremely adorable call for "mommy" and "daddy".
In two years, they would fill the house with their presence after discovering that they could walk. In about five years, he and Lanni would take them to school and...
"Uncle?" Asked Xiaomu, trying to get his attention.
He looked down at the girl in his arms and let his gaze trail to the boy not too far off. Yeah, that was right. At least he was an uncle. He should be grateful that his niece was not lost in that accident. He wanted to be, but he just couldn’t think positively with his wife battling for her life on her own.
A doctor finally came his way after a long time.
"The patient is still unconscious but you can see her. She will wake up soon." He started, and Xiehan shot to his feet. He placed Xiaomu beside Xingyu and headed for the ward.
"Sir, wait a minute. You can’t go in yet."
He continued firing off a list of instructions and had Xiehan disinfect himself before going in. Only two people were allowed in the room at the same time but they could take turns keeping her company.
He didn’t wait to hear the details about her condition before rushing in.

"Stay with me. Please." She pleaded. As she felt her body lose its strength and her eyes grow heavy, it was the only thought on her mind.
"Don’t leave me. I beg you, please."
The light in front of her was dimming but she still wanted to hold on. "I’m sorry I wasn’t good enough. I didn’t protect you. Can you give me another chance, please?"
The weaker she felt, the more she wanted to hang on, but then she couldn’t anymore. She didn’t have any strength in her anymore.
But just when she was about to give up fighting, a little voice called out in panic.
"Mommy!"
She battled with her eyelids and forced them open, squinting when a bright light hit her eyes. It took a while to adjust to it and although she had closed her eyes for a second, it felt as though it had been an entire week. Her body felt too weak to move. When she moved her hand, she took note of the IV and the man hugging it like it was his lifeline. He was asleep with his head on the bed. When she finally registered what had happened and why she was in the hospital, she couldn’t hold back her tears.
"Xiehan, I’m so sorry."
