Chapter 137: Chapter 137

Princess Eleanor swallowed hard when she felt Sir Kit’s eyes on her. She was not able to understand why the man was not reacting at all. She felt helpless and a little lost when she could not get any reaction. Not a single word was said.

’Is he angry?" Princess Eleanor was confused as she started questioning herself.

"Sir Kit?" Princess Eleanor asked as she looked at the man.

His face was devoid of any expression and the eyes looking at the Princess thought the mask was as cold as the dagger itself. Princess Eleanor did not know how to control the situation. This was not the direction she was hoping things to move into.

"Is Princess returning it to me?" Sir Kit asked when he saw the uncertainty in Princess Eleanor’s eyes. She was nervous and it was evident.

Princess Eleanor nodded her head as she bit her lips. She could not tell why, but the Princess felt the temperature surrounding her decrease a lot.

"What is the reason?" Sir Kit asked. His tone was dangerously low as he glared at princess Eleanor. "Does the Princess not want to keep anything that belongs to me with her?"

Princess Eleanor shook her head in confusion. She could not understand why Sir Kit would come to that conclusion. "No, no it’s not that. It’s just..."

Princess Eleanor did not know how to ask for such a thing from Sir Kit. ’Can I really ask him to do that for me? Wouldn’t it be taking advantage of him just because I know he likes me?’ Princess Eleanor did not know how to react. She had a vision in her mind which had made complete sense before she started executing it.

It felt so easy to think that she would sit here and return the dagger to sir Kit and ask him to do something for her but now when it was the moment of truth she felt a feeling of annoyance. Princess Eleanor was afraid that Sir Kit would refuse her.

Princess Eleanor took a deep breath as she decided to address the awkward situation. "I want something in return."

"So you want to return my dagger that you took because you gave me a glass of perfume and now you want to give it back just because you want something else from me?" Sir Kit raised his eyebrows as he touched the dagger training its engraving. "Is it that easy?"

Princess Eleanor could hear the disappointment in Sir Kit’s toon as she grew nervous, "Something like that. But I will not force you. I know this is important to you so even if..."

"Tell me what you need," Sir Kit’s words cut through Princess Eleanor’s. She could feel that he was angry but the Princess was in no position to try and control the escalating situation. She knew that what she was about to ask would make the man even more enraged.

Princess Eleanor took a deep breath. "I need to get inside the grand Duke’s study,"

As soon as the words were said, Princess Eleanor could feel the frightening silence in the room. Although the room was already quiet, but now the silence was dangerous as if it was ready to attack her.

Princess Eleanor looked into Sir Kit’s eyes as she saw an unknown emotion flowing through them. She had never felt so detached from him, and yet at this moment, Princess Eleanor could not connect with the man.

"I know what you want to know." Princess Eleanor tried to explain. She knew that if she left it in the open the results would not be good. "I know that I am asking for something that is out of the ordinary, but I mean no harm. I just want to take a look there."

"Why?" Sir Kit’s tone was low but the voice was sharp. Princess Eleanor felt a chill run out on her body. She never felt this frightened in her life. The mere thought that she was feeling like this because of Sir Kit’s one word was depressing to her.

"I want to search for something," Princess Eleanor said with a desperate tone. "Do not worry, I will not steal anything. I just want to make sure that he is not invol..."

Princess Eleanor paused in her sentence. She couldn’t bring herself to complete it. The Princess did not know why but whenever she was with Sir kit she tended to say all the wrong things. All the things she would usually hide were open in front of him.

"You want to make sure he is not involved in what?" Sir Kit asked, "Answer me, princess. You are asking me to betray the person I serve. I have a right to know what it is."

Princess Eleanor looked at Sir Kit. Her eyes were filled with water. She was angry with herself but the tears started to emerge in her eyes. Princess Eleanor did not want to be a person who could not control her emotions. Especially not in front of Sir Kit and yet she was an open book whenever she was near him.

Princess Eleanor could not question Sir Kit’s words. She was asking him to betray the Grand Duke in a way. "I want to make sure that he is not involved in my parent’s death."

"But he is not," Sir Kit said as soon as Princess Eleanor’s words were completed.

"I know you won’t think that he is. But I need to make sure." Princess Eleanor held Sir Kit’s hands as her hold on them tightened. She looked straight into his gaze as she said desperately, "Please help me. I just want to check if he is involved or not."

Feeling that Sir Kit would not help her, Princess Eleanor’s tears started flowing down her cheeks. "I will not ask anything else from you. Please help me. I too wish he is not but I .... I don’t know .... I have a feeling that he might be involved ... Please help me with this once. This is the only reason why I came here."
