Tower's Richest Player: My Coins Won't Stop Increasing-Chapter 89: The external threat
Chapter 89: The external threat
-Slaaash!
She slashed the sword to get the blood off of the blade, and after taking a good look at it, she returned it to its owner.
"It’s a good sword." She complimented the sword and received her own sword from him as he nodded at her with a look of approval as well.
"This one’s great as well. This feels more appropriate for me, I must say."
The sword that he returned to her was a {C-Rank} sword with a red blade that channeled fire attributes and moved according to the movement of the user’s Aura.
The sword suited him more than it did to her since his Aura type was complimentary to the weapon, and the same was true for her as she possessed Holy power.
A Holy Sword in the hands of a Holy Sword user who could also use Aura was much better than it was in his hands.
"Would you like to trade this sword? It seems precious however we can come to-."
"We can just exchange it, if you’d like." She wanted to buy the sword from him even if she had to give up her own sword.
The holy sword was more precious to her than a weapon that wasn’t compatible with her. She was only using it since it was the best sword they could find.
It was clearly as precious as the holy sword, but the value of the two weapons was vastly different despite them having the same ranks.
One was a holy weapon and that alone made it more precious than a sword that could channel Fire attributes and help with the Aura control.
Just exchanging it wasn’t appropriate and she wanted to protest, but he handed her the holy sword back.
"It is alright. I’d like it if someone much suited has it. Besides..." He looked at her, at her clear amber eyes, at the depth that almost reminded him of his past, and nodded with a smile on his face.
"The sword clearly seems to like you better than me."
Someone who had reached a certain level of mastery could feel their weapons. It was common knowledge within the tower.
Both these people who had taken care of all the mutated, corrupted beings on the floor and were now standing in an area full of the dirty dead bodies of those monsters, could tell what their swords desired.
"Are you sure?" Dame Althea still hesitated for a moment, looking at him with uncertainty.
She had only met him today, he was from the association and the person who led the team that cleared the 1st floor, a famous figure, but that was all she knew about him.
They weren’t acquaintances yet, much less friends that could just give each other something so precious.
"Yes. I insist. Please have her and treat her well." He handed her the sword and grabbed her hand, surprising her for a moment.
"And thanks for your help today. You saved me... you saved us." He genuinely and sincerely thanked her, but the calm expression on her face stayed unchanged.
"It was my duty." She spoke in a low voice, her eyes stuck on his hand that was holding hers. "I merely did what I was supposed to do."
Carefully pulling away from him, she looked at the holy sword one more time.
Looking back at Zyon and seeing his sincere eyes, she looked back at her other hand, at the red sword.
"Take care of him as well. He tends to go wild sometimes." Defeated, she handed him the red sword, shaking her head at the situation.
"Of course." Zyon seemed happier to receive the red sword than he was after giving up the holy sword he had earned after clearing the hell goat.
He knew he might not find a holy sword anytime soon, and giving the sword up without consulting KiRA might have seemed risky, however, KiRA had made it clear that the sword belonged to him.
During their fight against the demoness and even after that, he made sure Ziggy knew he was the one that got the sword, not the other way around.
If he wanted to give someone else the sword, he was most certainly free to do so.
Besides... Where the hell was he right now?
"Huuuuuu." Taking a deep breath, Ziggy sighed with disbelief while observing his surroundings.
{ "Good work, everyone." }
The battles were over. The association was taking care of the aftermath which meant he would have to return to his duties as well.
"What the hell was all this?" But before that, he sat down beside a tree, his entire body shaking as he realized how drained out he was.
The battles had felt somewhat thrilling with the Dame beside him, but the fact that they had been fighting these monsters for almost an hour now seemed unbelievable to him.
"At first, only some of them showed signs of corruption. Then all of them became corrupt. Following that, some mutated and became monsters.
Monsters who were corrupted followed them, and they had a strange synergy with each other." Dame Althea had made her observations, however, even she could not reach any conclusions.
She had not even played the Tower of Beginning, so she knew even less about the tower than the normal players.
"It’s almost like a disease that got progressively worse." She sat down beside him as well, equally exhausted.
"It was very strange..." Even Zyon had not seen something like this before.
KiRA wasn’t around either, so he was simply waiting for any new information to show up while knowing full well just how clueless everyone else would be about the current situation.
"All of them were from the same geographic region as well. Could it be that that region was exposed to something from the tower?" The Dame revealed something that Zyon or the association did not know yet.
"What do you mean by that, Dame Althea? They were from the same region?" The information surprised him. If what she said was true, then there were new possibilities for speculation.
"Yes, they were from the southeastern continent’s Malo region in the Homen country. Our intelligence network was able to identify them through the items they carried with them."
Without hesitation, Dame Althea showed him the data that she obtained from her people.
It was gathered from the initial assailants that they were taken down at the start of this entire ordeal.
The clothes, the personal items that they had, and even the few items that they possessed. They were able to track down their origin and find out at least a little about them.
Now all that was left to know was how these people, even with the signs of corruption, were able to bypass the association’s security.
"Actually..." Now that he knew this information, Zyon was a little confused.
The eastern nations were resisting the authority of the association, but not all the nations were like that.
Homen was one of the few who had accepted the association’s rules and regulations and cooperated with the association.
He knew about this because he had personally trained some of the recruits from the Homen state. But, if this information was true, then...
"Could it be...?" He didn’t want to believe that, but the thought that the association might be behind this did not leave his mind.
"Are you wondering if the association is behind all this?" The Dame caught onto his worries. "If you believe the association might be corrupt, you can be rest assured."
She patted his shoulder, moving her face closer to his face.
"The association may have strange goals, but they aren’t ones to kill their own people. As their names suggest, they truly are working for the players and the people."
She was the representative of an entire continent, someone who held a much higher position than an association employee like him.
She knew things that he did not. And from what he knew, she could reassure him of the association’s humanity.
"Is that so?" He looked beside him and found her face right before his eyes.
Her eyes were... pretty. And even in this damned place filled with the stench of corrupt gore, he could smell her natural fragrance.
"I see. I shouldn’t overthink this then." Zyon stayed like that for a moment, and then pulled away from her, and rested his back on the tree trunk behind him.
"Precisely." The Dame nodded as well, aware of his scent as well.
It was their first meeting but they felt strangely comfortable around one another. And they wanted to rest just like that for a little longer as well...
{ "Captain Zyon." }
But his duty called him back.
"M’lady." And so did hers.
They met on a battlefield.
And perhaps, the next time they meet now, might also just be on a battlefield...
