Three hours after Esong’s departure and most of the equipment was removed and taken away, a group of people snuck into the Blue forest, dressed in armors of different colors and they went through the space crack as well in their spaceships.

In the palace, the emperor and empress received a report about it.

The empress had a sly look on her face, her eyes were glistening with joy. "As expected, Godiver and his group have gone ahead to sneak their people into the space crack. I wonder what the looks on their faces will be when things don’t pan out as they expect."

The emperor calmly sipped his tea and looked at his wife. She had done all sorts of shady businesses lately.

"It was you that spread the news about the space crack right?" he asked.

The empress laughed nervously and she shrugged. "Oops. But I didn’t spread it, I planted it in the right ears and made sure it reached the right people. If the space crack is closed successfully, our chances to reduce their power will lessen. However, with half of their forces gone, we can reduce their influence, chip away at their wealth and manage them like we used to."

She had spread the rumor that that there was great wealth beyond the space crack and a new type of energy which scientists had discovered. Of course, the greedy ministers could not help themselves. They had sent their most trustworthy men to find and return those resources. An ambitious man like Godiver planned to overthrow the emperor using the influence of that great wealth.

"Oh, Scarlet told me how many babies she is having." The empress told him.

The emperor was interested and he looked at her expectantly.

The empress raised her hand and indicated five.

King Wu gasped and covered his face. Funnily enough, he sort of resembled Esong after Scarlet told him the news of the pregnancy.

"Congratulations my husband. The house of Wu will be blessed again, your highness." She told him.

The emperor laughed boisterously, suddenly and he leaned back against his throne. "It’s another day for me to be thankful that Scarlet married into our Wu family. The surprises never end when it comes to her."

In hushed whispers, the royal couple started debating on the sexes of the babies and whether or not Scarlet would carry to full term like her mother.

That evening, it was rather quiet at the dinner table. All the available Su’s and Wu’s came together for a meal. Different moods were expressed all around and mostly, it was just sadness. Going to fight mutated beasts in winter meant that they at least knew where he was but going to those undiscovered planets meant danger. They didn’t know what was out there.

Scarlet kept receiving glances and sighs of pity as they were afraid to speak and perhaps say the wrong thing. Half way through the meal, she abandoned the meal and threw up.

Worried, Mega followed her all the way to the bathroom and stood outside, waiting impatiently as she paced. Carolyn, Fey, Cecily and other women followed her as well.

The moment she stepped out, her mother grabbed her hand and looked at her with worry in her eyes.

"My dear, are you okay?"

Scarlet nodded. "I am just tired, I am going to sleep. Mother, please bring Justin to me when it’s time for bed."

Mega wasn’t sure that it was such a good idea in the struggle to teach Justin independence but she kept that opinion to herself and she just nodded. Mother and son needed to deal with Esong’s departure in their own way.

For the next three weeks, Scarlet’s condition didn’t improve. She continued throwing up, eating less and sleeping more. Justin started school at Bartholomew while Emmet and Etienne Wu took care of most of the political affairs of the Blue star.

The fourth week arrived, and not a peep had been heard from Esong. Scarlet remained steady only because that bond didn’t change. She had no idea what he was up to but he was alive and he was safe.

On this day, things were bound to change for Scarlet and her mundane life was about to come to an end. It all started when the door to her living room slid open and in walked her father-in-law.

"There is an urgent matter which needs your attendance." he said.

Scarlet lazily put down the novel in her hands and sat up. If he was here, then it had to be really bad.

"Alex switch on the television, urgent news." he said.

Alex picked the first channel, Sun and Sun network which showed news all day.

"Devastation on Solaris as a creature now identified as a sandworm sunk three cities in the middle of the night and resulted in the death and displacement of many. It is unknown how many casualties this....."

The rest of the words, Scarlet barely heard. Even the scenes of devastation on the most beautiful planet, she hardly saw. Her mind travelled to the words of the banshee. Apheitos was hunting something that was heading her way, and he would soon be here.

"He is here." she whispered to herself.

"Scarlet the alliance of planets is asking for every planet to send help and take in as many displaced as possible. Minister Godiver has proposed that all fire fighters and first responders from our planet be sent."

"Father-in-law, do as you see fit. I will back whatever decision you take. As for the displaced people, we will take in as many as we can. Half of Florida has been rebuilt, we have empty houses. Please, act on it quickly."

Emmett hurried out to send help and coordinate with everyone that would be going on this rescue mission.

As soon as he left, the hammer on the pendant around Scarlet’s neck started vibrating and out of thin air, a deity appeared.

She could see why the banshee called him old. He did resemble an old bearded man on the face. He had wrinkles, white hair and a tired look in his eyes. In his hands was a hammer, resembling the one on her pendant.

He looked cranky, she thought. A cranky old man.

"We should move now. I have two months at most to prepare you because she asked me to do so. After the two months, if you are a failure then it’s on you." he said.

No introductions, no greetings or exchange of names.

"I am willing to go but my son goes with me." she said.

"Bring whoever you want, no more than ten people if you wish because I will not cater to you in your condition. Your fellow humans can help. However I can only give you an hour to prepare yourself and then we fly away. We can mix in with the many spaceships flying off your planet already."

"My hound too." Scarlet said.

"One hour," Apheitos told her and he disappeared.

Scarlet jumped up and started tossing things into her storage bracelet while making urgent calls. She already knew who she was taking with her. She hurried off to bid her parents farewell.

As for the rest, she sent out a massive group text. She was paying a visit to Teranova and Xeno. The time to lose the cage in which she had been placed had come.
