Transmigrating from a zombie world to become the mecha kings wife-Chapter 616: A journey away from home.
Chapter 616: A journey away from home.
After a three day journey, the space ship touched down on a new world. To scout for danger, Mega X3 went ahead of everyone to explore this new world.
Scarlet was sitting with her feet up on a table, observing the screens on which footage of what the mecha saw were being relayed. So far, she had seen animals, in different sizes and shapes, a lot of them.
"It has been a month long and you haven’t heard from your husband. Why are you calm? Normal you would be freaking out and losing her mind." Fresh after a warm bath, Adler that had just taken a bath plopped himself down in a chair next to her and asked.
He pulled over the half eaten bowl of tom yum soup which Scarlet had abandoned because her stomach had rejected. One of the children in her belly was not fond of sea food. Lately, every time she had some, it would come out of her mouth forcefully and rapidly.
He also used his foot to kick the cover of her puke bucket shut. It was specially manufactured by Carolyn for Scarlet to vomit with ease anywhere at any time. He hated that thing with a passion because sometimes Scarlet forgot to seal it and looking at puke was not fun for anyone.
"Stop forcing yourself to eat things they don’t want." He told her.
"The children need nutrition." She answered.
He looked at her stomach and sighed. He couldn’t understand why they couldn’t announce the pregnancy to the world. The royal family needed to know about it, especially now in testy times when the mecha king was absent and all sorts of rumors about his death were being whispered in all corners of the empire. The mecha warrior’s association was still refusing to release details on his mission.
It would also please their parents greatly but Scarlet didn’t want to tell. The rest of them only knew because she told them just before they left their home planet.
"Oh, back to my earlier question. Why aren’t you freaking out about Esong?" he asked her, repeating his earlier question.
The one he was speaking to was now paying more attention to food than him as she gave her all to mixing a bowl of chili peanut noodles. Once finished, she leaned back in her chair and stuffed her mouth.
"Why am I talking to you?" Adler asked in frustration and he used the same pink spoon Scarlet had been using to drink the soup. The taste was very pleasant and he couldn’t understand why she abandoned it. Well, it was just his luck.
The two siblings sat in silence, eating their food and watching the screens. It was dark on this planet right now, so he could only assume that it was night. Everyone else was sleeping and they were the only two that were awake.
He couldn’t help wondering if they had made the right decision leaving their home planet with the stranger Apheitos that Scarlet called her master. They didn’t even have a planned direction and they were simply on the move. The stranger told them where to land and he would decide how long they could stay and when it was time to go.
Why had they come to this particular world anyway? It was creepy and quiet. The moon here was red like blood. Adler didn’t care about the traditions of the royal family and their special colors because in his opinion red was not auspicious. Mutated beasts had red eyes, mostly. Mecha warriors dying on a battlefield spilled red blood. His brother-in-law Esong at one time had red eyes. That was on the night they played around with Atlas.
He had glimpsed at them for a second and they disappeared but he was sure that Esong’s eyes had been red. Red was a signal that bad things had happened or were about to happen.
"Don’t overthink it," he told himself.
He soon finished his meal and opened a large jar of Scarlet’s special preserved fruits, the mixed flavor kind. He could eat one entire jar of these in one sitting. His sister was the best in all sorts of culinary talents. Even her preserved fruits tasted different from the ones sold in supermarkets.
On one of the screens something brushed past the space ship and a warning was announced by Alex.
"Movement detected around the left wings."
"Deploy the shields." He commanded.
The AI announced, "Shields deploying, nobody should exit the space ship to avoid being locked outside."
What about something being locked inside? He asked himself. He didn’t worry much however because this spaceship had the best security measures he had seen. If anything dangerous came close it would be dissected into multiple pieces, burnt or frozen to death.
"What were you saying?" Scarlet finally put her chopsticks down and asked him.
He spun his chair and faced her. "I was asking you why you are not freaking out. How are you keeping yourself calm and not falling apart?"
She pointed to her belly and raised her eyebrows. "You see this, right?"
"I do. How could I miss your very obvious unusually large pregnant belly?" He came to a sudden realization and he palmed his forehead. "Ooh, it’s the pregnancy which is keeping you calm."
"Yeah, no." she responded with a laugh.
The pregnancy was unstable, causing her to glow, making her throw tantrums and playing with her emotions. The power overload caused thanks to the children’s strength was resulting in earthquakes, fires and explosions every now and then. There was nothing calm about the pregnancy.
"What is it then?" he asked her.
"A sense of purpose." She replied and explained no further.
She could not explain to him that she needed to worry about protecting and defending her children more than Esong’s safety. They were both connected, if he was in danger, she would know.
"I don’t get you." He sighed and turned to face the screens. He was okay as long as she was not falling apart. He really hoped that Esong returned soon otherwise the day was going to come when his sister would fall apart. Those children could not be in her womb forever.
Unless, she obsessed over then to distract herself. She had said that they gave her a sense of purpose after all.
"Where are we anyway?" he asked her.
His head suddenly fell back slowly and his eyes closed. Out of nowhere, he was sleeping, snoring even as if he had been sleeping for a long while.
Surprised, she walked over to him and shook his shoulder. "Eh, brother! Are you sleeping so suddenly?"
"Let’s go." Apheitos appeared out of thin air and told her. Besides him was Severus, the only hound she had come with. "It’s time for your training to begin."
She looked at Adler and then lifted her eyes to face the deity. "He is sleeping, just like the rest. I have distorted their sense of time a bit and made their days shorter. You will get enough time to train without them realizing what you are doing."
"What about protection?" she asked him.
"This vessel is under my protection, nothing is coming close to it. We can leave for a hundred million years, return and find it in the same condition. I can’t say the same for the occupants however."
