Chapter 617: The start of training.

"You are not helping." She told the deity.

His words did not put her at ease in any way. If the goal was to make her hesitate, he was accomplishing it.

"I am here to help with your training because she told me to. Putting you at ease is another favor she will owe me."

"You keep talking about her but you don’t really tell me who she is. Seriously, Apheitos share the knowledge and make it easy on me. Who is the mystery woman that would get a deity to train a grim reaper? Is it the soul of my dead mother?"

The deity picked her up roughly as if he was carrying a chicken and teleported them out of the space ship. The grim reaper was talking nonsense obviously because what would he be doing with the soul of her dead mother?

The grim reaper was very chatty and she often spoke nonsense. Being with her all day was very exhausting.

"You don’t have to carry me like baggage, I can teleport and follow you." She told him.

"Shut up." He replied.

"Why are you so grumpy? I am the pregnant one here with five children in her belly and instead of resting and laying my feet up while being pampered I am on the run from deities and my husband is nowhere to be seen.

What kind of man doesn’t keep in contact when he has a pregnant wife at home? I mean his friends have communicated a time or two but him, radio silence. Do you think I scared him off when I told him I was pregnant?"

"Oooh," Apheitos groaned in frustration. "I am not your therapist, shut up."

She turned her head to him, and said, "But you are the only one I can talk to about these things genuinely. Well, Severus counts as well but he is my hound and sometimes he is not objective because he tells me what I want to hear. Like, he keeps telling me that Esong is fine because it’s what I need to hear but how can he know with certainty? "

Apheitos wondered for a few seconds if the consequences of dropping Scarlet on the ground would be dire. Or maybe he could seal her tongue and take away her speech. It would be so simple to say the words, your speech is mine. It would seal her lips for as long as he desired.

"You bonded before he left. If he dies, the bond breaks, it’s easy. Now, concentrate on the important training we are about to begin."

He touched her arm and burnt away the mark of the bracelet of kin.

Scarlet was all on board but she had a question which she was burning to ask. If she didn’t ask, she feared that she would not get the opportunity.

"This is my last question and I will shut up. How do I know that the bond works? That part was not explained to me and I am perplexed. I haven’t felt anything at all. Like I thought it would tingle or pulse or we could talk with our minds like werewolves..."

She was suddenly dropped by Apheitos, startling her into screaming and she forget to teleport and balance herself. One of the children came to her aid however and she ended up hovering in the air. But the powers of an unborn infant even though spiritual were still weak and she wobbled from side to side.

"Not cool Apheitos." She looked up at the dark sky and yelled.

A boisterous laugh came from the mouth of the deity. "Less talk and more training chatter mouth. We have already started our training or can’t you tell? Lesson one; always be aware of your surroundings. "

Scarlet was definitely not paying attention to her surroundings because something came out of nowhere and bumped into her, sending her off course.

"Humph! "She growled out. Before she could right herself, something whizzed past her and scratched her back.

Its sharp claws caused her pain, intense pain which she didn’t wish to relieve. When Apheitos said that he would be training her he left out the part about the pain being real and her opponents actually trying to claw her skin off.

She had no idea what had bumped into her but she would damn well make sure that the next thing to bump into her did not live long. One thing she had not revealed to any of the deities was that glowing, emotional outbursts, the earthquakes, fire explosions and a few other changes in her were not the only ones.

Recently, she had grown wings, black wings with white tips which almost looked identical to those of the life angels. She had a feeling that one or two of her children were probably not what she expected. But they were her little buns and she would love them anyway.

So, with the wings, this would not be a teleportation battle but a flying one.

The large black wings spouted from her back and her entire body heated up, turning green. It was bright and hot, not restrained like before. Her eyes changed to gold and her vision changed. Suddenly she could see much more clearly and recognize what was coming at her, demons. They were everywhere she looked, in all forms and shapes. In the air and on the ground, they were many like ants that had been released from a mountain.

"Where the heck are we?" she asked. "Oh my God, my son!!"

Not just him but the humans she had brought with her too. They could not be on a demon filled world it was dangerous.

"Calm down and fight, this is a part of this world that humans cannot sense. In fact, there are no humans on this world; it’s a forgotten prison world that is set to be erased...."

While Apheitos was explaining something with sharp teeth and claws came at her. She slapped her hands together and an unlimited flame power spread out, bursting forth like an energy blast.

The creature was sent flying back and it screeched as its body turned into ash and faded way. Scarlet could feel whatever power it had going into her body.

"Control the flame, you must control the flame." Apheitos yelled at her. "That was too much power to use on one weak demon like that."

"But I can replace the power I dispense with what I take after I refine it." She replied.

Apheitos heard the arrogance in Scarlet’s voice and he scoffed. She reminded him of a first time craftsman that succeeded at bringing a hammer down only once and somehow got the idea in their mind that they were an expert. "It takes time for your soul to turn that power into your strength, and you cannot refine too much at once or you will crack and vanish just like that demon. You need your soul to merge with the flame if you are to be unstoppable."

Something came from Scarlet’s back and she reacted in the same way as she had done before. Using too much of the flame and irritating Apheitos.

"Sorry." She shouted out.

The apology had barely escaped her mouth when two attacked her at the same time and despite trying, she did the same thing and yelled out an apology.

Standing next to Apheitos on a dark cloud was Severus and the hound felt the need to put in a good word for Scarlet. "Give her some time, she is a quick learner. I can promise you that she will get better at it."

The deity sighed and palmed his forehead. "This is going to be a long two months." He mumbled.
