Transmigrating from a zombie world to become the mecha kings wife-Chapter 618: The search for Scarlet.
Chapter 618: The search for Scarlet.
Back home, on the Sun star the search for Scarlet was on among those who were most desperate to track her down, the deities that were invested in her life and her pregnancy.
It was still a great puzzle to them all, especially the old deity. How could he fail to track down a grim reaper? He knew the location of every reaper on every world in the universe but Scarlet was gone, not even a trace of her.
"It was Apo; I am telling you all that it was that bastard. Screw waiting for the war we should attack now and be done with it." Carnelia suggested.
Who else besides them wanted to get his hands on Scarlet or her babies more than the deity of life? It would be the perfect revenge on Nyx, and a victory over the underworld.
All three deities were on the roof of her London castle, looking down on the Blue star as they searched every corner for a hiding place they had missed.
"Or maybe she is on Nordem." Wisdom suggested. "Didn’t you say that she was on a mission over there? Maybe she got lost somehow and hasn’t resurfaced."
Lythia vanished away immediately. She would search through Nordem on her own rather than send another reaper. It would be faster that way.
The old deity was strangely silent while the others made one suggestion after the other on the possible whereabouts of Scarlet. Carnelia was disturbed by this. It was always better when death talked his feelings through. If you didn’t know what he was thinking then you never saw it coming when he burst like a dam and created more devastation than chaos.
"You haven’t said anything death. I am beginning to worry." She said.
The old deity looked up and said softly, "She associates with all sorts of creatures. Have any of you asked these creatures where she could be? I hear she has banshees, trolls, and other things on her payroll. It’s how she maintains an iron fist on the entire planet. We need to track them all down and question them."
"We will go." Ruby said.
Who else could get answers out of a monster other than another monster?
The old deity disappeared, leaving behind that wisdom that did not stay behind as well. Carnelia was the only one left and she just stood there watching the hounds teleport away.
Ruby and Flan were also on the Blue star, helping with the search. Ruby had on opinion which she kept to herself because she didn’t want to risk angering the wrong deity and end being erased from existence.
In her personal opinion, Scarlet was gone because she wanted to go and she didn’t want to be found. Why else had she left behind Flan?
They all knew that Flan’s duties outside protecting Scarlet were reporting on all of her activities. Whatever Scarlet was up to, she didn’t want anybody knowing, especially the deities.
Still, it was risky for her to be out there doing who knows what with that pregnancy. The earlier she was found, the better. novelbuddy.cσ๓
The first monster that Ruby and Flan paid a visit to was one that nobody would think to question. It was Lanta, the harpy and Scarlet’s sister-in-law to be. The two didn’t have a cozy relationship which is why she would be the last person anybody would ever think to question. It was also why Ruby went to her first. Sometimes, you found answers in places you didn’t expect them to be.
The two hounds tracked Lanta down to the capital. She and Beord were over there helping with Scarlet’s horse racing track. Beord was on ministerial duties, conducting a tour of a communications company that was in talks of moving its headquarters to the Blue star.
When they found the harpy, she was on an experimental farm where some plants had started blossoming. There were at least two hundred acres of land all together and the harpy was in a tree in her bird form, watching over them.
The two hounds shrunk their bodies and sat down on two different branches opposite the harpy, leaving her in the middle between them.
"Hello harpy." Ruby said.
Lanta didn’t even turn her head to recognize the one that had just arrived. "Hello queen of hounds."
"You don’t seem too surprised or frightened to see me." Ruby said.
Standing still on her branch like an engraved statue on the ground, the harpy didn’t flinch. "Scarlet is gone and so is your son. It’s not extraordinary that you would be here. Also, why would I be frightened? I have done you no wrong."
"Just tell us if you know where Scarlet is." Flan told her.
She was more familiar with the attitude of the harpy than Ruby was. When it came to Lanta, you had to be direct otherwise you wouldn’t get the truth out of her. She could engage you in a ten minute conversation and get information out of you while giving you false information in turn.
"I don’t." she answered.
"You were tasked to keep an eye on her." Ruby stated.
"So was the female hound." Lanta replied. She turned her head to Ruby and said, "I guess none of us has excelled at their task. I have an excuse at least; Scarlet doesn’t like me much because I told her I would be the one to snatch her children should danger come for her. Your hound on the other hand is simply a snitch. That’s why I am guessing Scarlet didn’t take her wherever she vanished to."
The harpy turned her gaze back to the farmland, watching it with keen eyes so as to miss a single thing.
Ruby flinched meanwhile, because she was the one that gave Flan the side mission of being a snitch and Flan obeyed her completely. But now was not the time to distribute blame, it was time to find Scarlet.
"Do you know who might know where she went?" Ruby asked her.
Lanta spread her wings, preparing herself to fly away and get rid of the two distractions by her side. "Try asking a succubus named.....uhm....Car...Car...Caramel. She is Scarlet’s most loyal super-secret spy."
She flew away, moving all the way across the field and landing on another tree. In the shade of the warm evening sun, the bird resumed her watch.
"She is lying." Flan said.
"About what?" Ruby asked.
"Scarlet’s most loyal spy on the Blue star is not a succubus, it’s a banshee." Flan informed Ruby. "However, the banshee has no name and she looks just like the others of her kind so even if we search for her, it may take us ages to locate the real one."
Ruby listened and nodded. "Okay, I will pass that information along to the deities. In the meantime, let’s find the Caramel."
The harpy watched them teleport away and she laughed. Scarlet was not going to be found where they were going. Even if they found the real banshee, it would take at least two months to find Scarlet.
The harpy had switched loyalties; she intended to be a woman of the Su family after all. In fact that’s why she was here, watching and waiting to destroy the farmlands of Lord Godiver.
