It’s been a week. A week of Xia Lian giving her unnecessary tasks and a week of finding investors for her resort. Yang Meiyi wondered why Yang Jia collected the resort if she was never going to take care of it.
The resort was on the verge of bankruptcy and it was going to take a lot of money to revive it. It wasn’t that she didn’t have the money but without a well-known investor, the resort wouldn’t last and so far all the people she has asked have turned her down. According to them, they don’t see a future in it.
As Yang Meiyi sat on her dining chair with her laptop on the table and a glass of wine filled to the brim beside it, she checked out the type of renovation her resort would need and the cost of it. Yang Meiyi was scrolling through things she would need for her resort when her phone vibrated.
Yang Meiyi checked her phone and saw that she had received a message from an unknown number.
[Can we talk?]
Yang Meiyi frowned at the message and asked [Who is this?]
[Ye Qingyi.]
Yang Meiyi looked at the name for a while and then sighed. This girl identity was strange because there was no Ye Qingyi in the book. Either that or she has forgotten again, just the way she forgot that she was supposed to die at eighteen. She looked at the time and saw that it was 8 pm and she had to wake up early for her job, besides that she wasn’t really in the mood to talk to her love rival tonight.
[I’m not feeling too well tonight so maybe another day.] Yang Meiyi typed. After a few minutes passed, there was no response, so she placed her phone back on the table.
She wondered how the girl got her number and her concentration on finding items to renovate her resort was gone. She unconsciously touched the blue pendant on her neck and wondered what Fu Mingze was doing by this time.
Before when they were together, he would always be working by this time and then she would convince him to watch a movie with her which only ends in them making out. She missed him so much, She thought working as a close secretary to him would help her get closer to him but It’s just been the opposite. Xia Lian gives her too much unnecessary job and when she is done, he sends her on her errand which she will only come back from after Fu Mingze has left the company.
She must do something before Fu Mingze leaves for his business trip in three days. The business trip will last for a week so she must find a way to be the one who goes with him instead of Xia Lian, but how?
Just then her phone rang, and Yang Meiyi’s eyes brightened when she saw the number on her screen and immediately answered it.
"Ma Xin, I didn’t think you would call tonight."
"I will be coming to country M tomorrow and I wanted to ask if I can stay in your place for just two weeks."
"Why two weeks? You can stay here for a month, even a year if you want."
Ma Xin laughed softly over the phone and said "You know I can’t stay for long. I will have to go back to Country B after two weeks and apart from taking care of my grandma, I like my job here. I have a feeling that I will be promoted to a senior fashion designer."
"That’s great. At least you are following your dream while I’m here playing secretary and trying to renovate my mom’s resort."
"What do you mean playing secretary, I thought you would be working for Gem World."
"I can’t. At least not now, I have a lot of things to take care of, before following my dream." Yang Meiyi replied and drank half of the wine in her glass.
Ma Xin was silent for a moment before saying "I know I have said this before but I’m sorry for not being there for you when you needed me."
"And I have told you is alright. It’s not like you abandoned me, you didn’t have a choice. Your grandma was sick and there was practically no one to take care of her, I was the one who asked you to go" Yang Meiyi said. Two years ago when she received the news of her mom’s accident, Ma Xin also received news that her grandmother was sick. It was only right for her to go take care of her grandmother instead of sticking around and feeling pity for her.
"So we will meet tomorrow."
"Yes, just send me the name of the airport where you will be landing and I will come pick you up." Yang Meiyi said with a smile.
"Alright bye."
"Bye." Yang Meiyi replied and ended the call. She looked at the time and saw that it was just ten minutes to nine, she drank the remaining wine on her glass and went to her room.

Seated on her workstation, Yang Meiyi ran through the documents Fu Mingze would need for his meeting in five minutes. If everything goes alright in today’s meeting then the Fu group and the Ye cooperation will become business partners. After the success of the redevelopment in District 23, making it the best shopping mall in country M the Fu group has become two times bigger and richer than it was. Now the Fu group has decided to enter the hospital sector and the Ye family who has one of the biggest hospital in Country M wish to be involved.
The Fu group will provide all the latest and up-to-date technology the Ye hospital needs, especially for heart surgery, and in return, the Fu group will get at least 30% of the hospital income, the Ye family has also decided to give Fu Mingze 20% of their hospital share.
To Yang Meiyi it was a good business deal. The Fu family becomes richer while the Ye Hospital no longer needs to bother about purchasing expensive tools for their hospital dealings. After printing out the necessary document, Yang Meiyi entered the conference room and arranged the documents at each executive desk, they wanted to go over the contract again and add some things if necessary before they finally sign the contract.
After arranging the documents and water on their desk, the door opened and the executives started coming in. Even Mr Ye was here, so the only one missing was Fu Mingze.
Two minutes passed and the executive kept themselves busy by reading the document while Mr. Ye strangely just kept looking at her.
Just then the door opened and Fu Mingze strode in with confidence as he sat on the head chair and said "Sorry I’m late."
Mr Ye looked at his watch and said "It’s alright, you were just two minutes late. I’m sure my daughter would be worse."
"Ye Qingyi is joining us?" Fu Mingze asked with a frown.
"Yes." Mr. Ye said with a smile that bothered Yang Meiyi but apart from Mr. Ye’s creepy smile, the other thing that made her worried was how pale Fu Mingze looked when he entered the conference room. It wasn’t noticeable but she knew what a healthy Mingze looked like and even as he spoke coldly and with confidence, she knew something was wrong. Was he having a fever or worse, is his heart acting up again? Why isn’t Xia Lian here? She sincerely prayed it was a fever instead of his heart.
Yang Meiyi came out of her thoughts when she heard the door to the conference room open again and a soft voice saying "Sorry I’m late. The traffic was quite terrible."
"It’s no problem dear. Everyone, this is my daughter, Ye Qingyi. I’m sure most of you have met her already" Mr.Ye said with a smile.
Ye Qingyi looked at everyone with a smile, however, her smile was completely wiped off her face when her gaze landed on Yang Meiyi. "You. What...what are you doing here?"
