Triple X System-Chapter 176: Stealing the staff
Staring at the screen he was lost for words. how is this even possible? I thought you couldn’t interfere with the system affairs as just a guide?
When snow had asked to buy her time this wasn’t what he expected at all. Maybe a temporary buff in stats but this was just off the charts. Not only had she broken the system protocols but a long bounding law. Stating demons couldn’t use mana.
[well, I pulled a few strings in exchange for something but it doesn’t matter. Kick that princess butt!] she yelled to which kyle gave a slight nod of affirmation.
I can feel it so vividly. A light smirk tug at the corner of his lips gazing at his hand. The mana circulating through his veins so clearly it almost felt natural. Like they’d been a part of him his whole life and not a few second ago.
It felt so unreal and yet realistic at the same time. Even his sense of mana had grown sharper, now perceptive to the abundance of mana surrounding him.
Argh! So repulsive. Lynn frow3ned regaining herself. Her brows soon furrowed noticing a change in the air.
My skill is being blocked. Her attention turned to the source of the obstacle. Which was none other than the black cube projecting an ethereal blue energy. Forming a dome encompassing them in it.
A time barrier, how did he get his hands on that? In all of lumia kingdom there was only two-time barrier devices created. To disrupt and constrict the usage of time related skills. One already used a long time before the coronation of her father as king.
And the second playing a big role leading to her banishment. Creating another was off the records as the materials needed were extremely scarce, located on distant planets.
I see you’ve somehow managed to block one of my abilities via that construction. Did my father loan that to you? She asked pointing to the black cube.
Ignoring her kyle eye were fixated on her like a hawk. His mind constantly racing on strategies to defeat her. As per the agreement which stated not to kill her but return both her and lumia unharmed.
She mentioned the cube blocked one of her abilities, which am guessing isn’t the space related ability. He thought.
It wasn’t a surprise she possessed two abilities considering troy did the same. But now that he thought about it the feat she performed with the mimic wasn’t related to space manipulation.
s-she can manipulate time. There was no doubt about it. Her hands glowed a faint purple during her contact with the mimic. Leading to the slow disintegration of his form.
[yes, from my assessment I’ve concluded she has roughly 3 abilities under her arsenal. Consisting of time, space and reality manipulation.] snow explained making kyle’s eye go wide in shock.
Having 2 abilities was already considered to be troublesome but 3? That was just bluntly overpowered to begin with. Not adding the fact these were rare and considered unatonable powers.
[though she can use all three abilities she doesn’t have absolute control. And can only be used simultaneously. As all three requires not only a lot of mana and stamina but intelligence and will to utilize.] snow explained.
For a filthy peasant I never expected you to put up a challenge. She chuckled lightly. Maybe I was wrong about you.
Gripping the staff, it responded to her touch exploding like a bomb. Dispersing out rings of purple energy in a circle.
I can’t dodge them. their speed was visible to keep up with but he knew dodging them would be impossible. Considering they were large and filled with the foreign energy from the purple orb.
Glancing at his parents they gave him a reaffirmed nod as if reading his worry about them. Their body swiftly fusing together to form the towering ominous entity.
Katana’s buff wouldn’t do much. He didn’t consider the katana the best option considering it was hindered to close combat. And the last thing he wanted was to get in close proximity to the rings.
Theres only one way. Running forward he pulled up the tab of a skill he hadn’t used since obtaining it.
[sonic blast skill activated!]
The system notification glinted across his view alerting him of the successful activation of a mana skill. Just like with using demon energy he could feel the mana in his core being released through his veins to his palms.
It wasn’t discomforting like he predicted, instead soothing. Flowing freely like a clogged tap now free dispersing out water.
Reaching a safe distance, the built-up energy contained in his palm shot out like a blast. Releasing several azure-colored rings heading fast. Getting wider in milliseconds encompassing a 5-meter radius.
Colliding with the first wave of purple blast the two azure blasts were completely shattered slowing the attack leaving one. Which managed to destroy the purple blast upon collision along with itself.
I can only project 3 sonic blasts for now. Kyle inwardly thought. He knew the rings weren’t constant per the description but he expected the number of the sonic rings would be a bit more.
Impossible! He destroyed the blasts with a skill. The shocked expression on lynn’s face wasn’t hidden.
That attack was from raw energy but he countered it with a sound skill? A vein bulged at the side of her forehead witnessing kyle deflect her attacks. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
Not bad at all.. I admit I was holding back but you’ve proven me wrong. Stretching forth her hand several small purple disks appeared around kyle. Spinning violently with deadly precision, forming small portal like holes.
Shit. Klye cursed hearing the low chime building up as the disks spun more fiercely. Charging up to unleash whatever chaos held in it.
Theres still two more waves. The time it took to fully charge up a sonic blast was technically 7seconds. And the proximity between him and the 2 death waves was really close.
These disks are about to go off any moment now. The chilling arms of death closed in on him, with limited time. And there was the possibility of using shadow walk to avoid the hit. Leaving him with 30 demon energy, enough to activate one more skill.
But he had a sixth sense coming from that staff which made him think shadow walk wouldn’t be a trump card.
[astral demon projection.]
The screen pulled up in his view. Huh? Are you sure about this? It was a skill he wasn’t attuned to at all. Having accidentally created it from his horrendous training with the mystic elf.
[astral demon projection: a skill born from the defiance of a soul from two worlds never meant to exist. This skill grants host the ability to project his consciousness into the astral plane for a very limited amount of time. (note: doesn’t require form of energy for activation.)]
He hadn’t read the descriptions then but doing so now a grin formed on his face.
Technically the skill was similar to shadow walk but without requiring demon energy or mana for activation. Which made sense considering it was his spirit being projected.
But what happens to my body? Wouldn’t it be unprotected? While in the astral plane his spirit departed from his body. Leaving it void without an inhabitant.
[true.. but if you activate shadow walk right before you astral project it should buy you some time to destroy her primary source of power. The wooden staff, with the orb.]
Not left with a choice he followed snows advice. Activating shadow walk skill transforming his body into complete shadows right before activating astral demon projection.
Unlike before he didn’t feel a sensation. No pain no soothing feeling, absolutely nothing. Just the growing realization his vision was fading into darkness.
Drawn by an undying prescence reeling him into an escapade scenery.
Am in my astral form. There was no doubt his consciousness had left his body staring at his luminous hand. Not dallying he moved forward pushing his ghostly legs forward.
It’s an entirely different sensation in the astral plane. The atmosphere clouded by a thick fog unlike what he’d experienced before. With a magnitude of force, opposing his body. Gritting his teeth, he persevered forward.
I can feel the weight of the beams. Though his consciousness was separated from his body the connection wasn’t. and he could feel the tremendous blast directed towards his body.
What happened? Lynn bore a confused look staring at kyle. Right before the blast went off he suddenly went unconscious as shadows enveloped him.
Somethings not right.. an uneasy ambiance creeped down her spine.
There she is. A spark of purple light illuminated up front, indicating none other than lynn. Clenching his fist his braced himself passing through the purple wave.
It worked. A light smile tug on his face seeing his form unscathed. Approaching lynn the opposing force multiplied hindering his movements drastically.
Equivalent to walking on thick snow in a raging blizzard storm. Gritting his teeth, he gripped the staff struggling to keep his legs pinned down from being blown away.
I feel something.. it was faint but for a split second she could’ve sworn something gripped the staff.
Wait.. it can’t be. Her eyes widen but it was too late. The faint grip on the katana getting stronger tightly wrapping around it.
