Chapter 219: Time’s up

’He’s done for.’ Kyle could tell Troy was out of tricks. Outsmarted by the beast, with no emotions.

Getting closer, the surrounding environments where the huge lightning bolt encompassed weren’t spared. Several of the white automatic cranes, disintegrated by the lightning bolts.

Parts of the blue bolts piercing through Troy’s body, drawing out fresh blood. The huge lightning ball reaching him, blasting his clothes way. With parts of his skin. Consuming his body, still heading forward.

’Is he dead?’ Kyle wondered. He couldn’t tell, no trace of Troy or his aura.

Which could only mean one thing. Clicking his tongue, he put his trust in shadow walk. Not placed with any other choice but to activate the skill.

[Wait!] Snow stopped him, sensing movement in the lightning ball.

"No way~" Kyle subconsciously uttered, with a light gasp. Disbelief plastered in his eyes, watching Troy emerge from the lightning ball.

He was barely naked, with several blue lightning surrounding his body. Wrapping him in electricity, just like the beast.

"You’ve got to be kidding me." The dargon frowned, watching Troy control his blue lightning. Pushing it back towards the beast.

"H—how the hell are you not dead!?" That attack was from the sky lightning!" The beast exclaimed in bewilderment, shocked to the core.

"Is that so? Guess you’re not the only one who can control lightning." Troy calmly spoke, bending the lightning to his will.

Pushing the lightning ball back some few meters. Growling, the dargon reacted. Dispelling more lightning from from it’s hands, hitting the lightning bolt. Stalling it at the center.

’Zap! Zap!’

Two figures distributing high voltage blue lightning, stood on opposite sides. In a fierce exchange of raw dominant power, surging the huge lightning ball with more lightning.

Expanding in size, from the energy supplied by the two dominant figures.

"He’s a dual ability user, but how is he controlling the beast lightning?" Kyle wondered, watching Troy achieve the impossible.

From their first fight, he’d learned Troy, the ruthless king of Lumia kingdom was a dual ability user. Making use of both his abilities, which was mainly air, and the second Kyle guessed was relating to thunder.

Though, he didn’t really know how the thunder ability worked. Not coming across it in fantasy books, that he read. He could tell it was just as destructive as lightning, if not even higher.

The damage from a thunderstorm, equivalent to high magnitudes of earthquakes laced together. Dawning a new age of global catastrophe, which was a world level threat.

[He isn’t controlling the lightning.] Snow blurted out, making Kyle raise a brown.

"Huh? What are you talking about? He’s literally doing it right now."

[Look closer, I’m detecting another ability in use.] Snow hinted.

Slightly squinting his eyes, Kyle could see it. A familiar faint purple glow, entering Troy’s body from behind. Tracing it, he could see Lynn’s head. Lying dormant, stashed behind a black crate.

[I wasn’t certain at first, but he’s using Lynn’s ability to reverse the dargon’s lightning ability. Making it look like he’s actually controlling the beast lightning.]

Though it was inhumane, and cold. Kyle couldn’t deny Troy’s exceptional thinking.

’Swoosh!’

Stealthy stretching his left hand back, the lightning the lightning cage was lifted. Attracting to Troy’s body, joining with the other lightning bolts.

"I can’t hold this for long, head to the teleportation bay now!" Troy slowly said through clenched teeth.

[Of course, that’s it!] Snow excitedly yelled like a little child.

[The dargon’s lightning ability allows it to absorb mana by converting it’s energy to match its own.]

"Just like the process of absorbing a beast crystal." Kyle interjected, recalling his lesson in vaanderwood.

[Exactly.. Energy is all around us, even the faintest spark transcends through limits. But what if we create a charge, large enough form raw mana. With a city scale level destruction?]

"Gasp* then it overloads with raw energy, without enough time to convert and absorb. Causing an imbalance within it’s core." Kyle muttered, understanding snow’s intention.

’But how can I get across without getting fried?’

The loading bay was now a field of lightning, with half of it’s floors split in two. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

’Swoosh!’

The air around him changed, lifting him in the air. Forming an air ball, shooting fast across the field of lightning.

’Zap! Zap!’

The blue lightning bolts reacted, zapping the air ball. Which held out against their attacks, dropping Kyle unharmed at the entrance to the teleportation bay.

’Bam!’

The ground beneath his feet cracked, blazing from spot he headed to the central control center. Making his way past the big screens, and system interface. Moving through the narrow passage, in the control room.

’Incredible.’ He thought, amazed by the architectural design of the teleportation bay.

It was just like a huge spacious room, about half the portion of the loading dock, white in colour. The conduit chamber below the round platform, housing a hexagon shaped teleportation pad.

Connected with steel wires, to about a dozen large backup generators at the side. While six towering stabilizers, stationed at the back of the pad. Controlling the transmission of current from the teleportation pad.

’I only have one shot.’

Activating dark flames, the red and dark flames burned brightly in his right hand. Without thinking twice, he shot a jetski of dark flames at the stabilizers.

All powered by multiple mana stones, enclosed in a field container.

’Crack!’

The flames didn’t outright shatter the glass stabilizers, highlighting it’s durability. Instead cracking them, engulfed in dark flames. Eating away at the glass.

"That should do it~" Turning, Kyle made a run back for the entrance. Not wanting to be caught in the mayhem brewing.

"Where’s the ground?" He muttered, eyes widened.

The familiar white marble floor gone, replaced with a huge gap. Spreading widely in width, running deeper underground.

[The spear Kyle.] Snow uttered.

Looking, he could see the black spear he’d struck to one of the crates still in place. Some small distance from one of the huge mana cranes.

"The gap’s too wide, I can’t reach it even if I run at full speed and lept." The barrier dividing him from the other end was too large, and he was out of ideas and demon energy.

[You just need some boost, and I know exactly how.]

Listening to snow, he grabbed about 4 mana stones from the back of one of the white cranes behind.

"Here goes nothing~"

Sighing, he took a deep breath. Going back to the steps leading to the control room.

’It’ll blow any second now.’

He could the energy contained in the faint stabilizers clashing, rupturing. Causing an imbalance in the chain reactor.

Crouching down, Kyle got into a sprinting stance. Flexing every muscle in his body, making his legs tense.

’Bam!’

The ground beneath him cracked, shooting out with an explosive force. Swinging his arms to gain momentum, cutting through the wind. Advancing towards the end he took a big leap, just at the edge of the cliff.

Propelling his body halfway through.

"Here goes everything." Bringing out two mana stones he stored in the system shop, he slammed them together.

Resulting in a small explosion, injuring him, pushing his body more to the destination. "One more." He gritted through the pain, taking out two more mana stones.

’Boom!’

They clashed together, the explosive energy sending him directly into the wooden spear. Thanks to snow’s accurate trajectory.

Using the momentum, he used the spear as a springboard. Projecting himself to the top of the crane, positioned facing directly to a window.

’He’s loosing.’

Down below, Kyle could see Troy and the dargon levitating in the air. Thanks to the blue lightning, the huge lightning ball now massive than ever.

Reaching half of the building height, leaning towards troy. Sweating profusely, struggling to control it.

[I can’t detect the energy from Lynn, which means-]

"She’s dead." Kyle finished her words, sensing the same thing.

"Maybe it’s best for everyone, if they both perish here." He coldly uttered, with murderous intent.

[I doubt it. Troy isn’t just cunning, but deceptive. There’s a high possibility he was a trump card in store.]

Scoffing Kyle lept out the window, digging his hands into the egg shaped fine building to reduce his falling speed. Resulting in a badly disfigured arm, with barely any flesh covering his bone.

...

"You’re going to die human. You’ve run out of mana, I can sense it." The beast grinned. "I don’t know how you managed to control my lightning, but time’s up."

The dargon snarled with a condescending glare. All the flesh in it’s head gone, leaving only a barely functioning skull.

"I wouldn’t get too cocky if I were you." Troy retorded, with a calm face.

His eyes glowing a faint gold, sparks of gold lightning spreading from his hands. Like a virus, corrupting the blue lightning ball.

"I—impossible." The dargon stuttered, feeling the shift in power.

The blue lightning ball, turning a golden shade below.

"I-i won’t loose, no~ I must not fail him!" The dargon roared, refusing to accept defeat.

Pouring in more of it’s blue lightning, squaring off against Troy’s gold lightning.
