Chapter 220: A long day

’Bang! Bang!’

Several explosions occured behind it. Tilting it’s head back a bit, the beast eyes went pale.

...

Standing some considerable distance in the kingdom, Kyle impatiently awaited the explosion.

’Why’s it taking so long? Did the dragon perhaps defeat Troy and escape?’ So many thoughts ran through his min.

’Boom! Boom!’

Two smaller explosions caught his attention. Towards the location of the location bay, sending out large gusts of wind. Blowing off sky high building tops like paper.

Rattling the ground causing an earthquake, eating away at the floor.

Making the largest crater so far. Surpassing about 22 meters deep, spreading more than 32 meters wide.

"So- much power." Kyle stuttered, taking shelter on the ground floor of the building besides him.

Shaking violently, cutting all power supply, threatening to collapse any moment now.

’It’s ending.’ He could feel it, the explosion was beginning to loose it’s force. Slowly fading out with the ear piercing sounds.

....

After some minutes, specifically 3 the explosions died out.

’It’s finally over.’ Kyle grunted, clutching his arms hanging by a thin thread.

’Boom!!’

Another explosion occurred, smaller in radius than the first. Containing power nevertheless, dispelling a large blue beam to the sky.

"That’s mana, right?" Kyle asked, a bit stunned exposed to this much mana.

[The quantity of the mana stones were in the range of hundreds of not thousands. It’s expected to feel this way, considering your nature as a demon. And a rookie’s sense of mana and the various energy present all around.] Snow calmly spoke.

’Why does it feel like you’re flattering me?’ A weak chuckle escaped his mouth, along with a mouthful of blood.

[Your condition is in a bad state, study shows humans tends to deal with injury or pain by detaching the mind from the thought.] Snow coldly said with a dry scoff, earning a sly chuckle from kyle.

Looking up, his retina gazed upon the blue beam. Piercing through the clouds, brightening the dark sky with an ominous blue. Multiple peels of lightning flashing in the sky at once.

Dancing in rhythmic balance, emitting a high pitched sound. Causing Kyle to shield his ear drums.

"Is it over?" He softly uttered, the high pitched sound dying with the large gusts of winds. The piercing blue beam fading into thin air.

[Yes, it’s over.] Snow confirmed his thoughts.

"I can’t sense the dargon’s or troy’s aura.’ He slightly frowned, having an unsettling feeling.

The distance demarcating him from the white building was long, so it was reasonable he couldn’t detect their aura’s. But still, he couldn’t be so sure about those two monsters.

[Ding! You have successfully killed a blue skin dragon.]

The system notification abruptly popped up in his view, leaving him stunned.

The losses suffered from the dargon’s invasion were much, toppled with the destruction of the teleportation bay and half of the castle.

’Is this some kind of a glitch? Why did the system reward me with the kill?’ Kyle thought, slightly confused.

Though he’d helped out insignificantly with dark flames, and the big bang explosion. It was a team effort, with much work done from Lisa and Troy. The two notable powerhouse present.

[The dargon was long dead before the explosion.] Snow blurted out, taking Kyle back a bit.

"That can’t be possible, dark flames effect on it were little to none. So how could it have been dead and still moving?’ He questioned, with a clueless expression.

[Sighs* I am not sure, but I’m betting it has something to do with it’s genetic code and physiology. Just like humans have emotion and intelligence, so does a beast. Enabling it to distinguish and make choices. The higher the rank, not just relying on it’s pure savage nature.] She paused, letting Kyle digest that information.

[The same goes for the dargons, which I’m leaning to the fact, they are a hybrid combination of a specific species of beast and another specimen.]

"By specimen why do I get the feeling this has something to do with us?" A slight frown formed to his face.

There was no doubt something weird with the dargon’s nature, distinguishing them aside from other beasts. Apart from their already humanoid build, and gore facial appearance.

[It possesses similar biology with humans. With 60% of it’s genetic made from human atoms, and the rest 40% beast structure.]

Hearing snow out, he was at lost for words.

"So you’re saying dark flames left the dargon brain dead, but it kept moving like a zombie?"

[Similar, but not quite. You see, zombies being undead creatures possess a nonfunctioning brain. Which means their brain cells are dead, and disconnected from their nerves. Making them emotionless, flesh eating monsters.]

’That’s a nice way of putting it.’ The sarcasm in his thoughts couldn’t be hidden, earning a pout from snow.

[As I mentioned, they act only on instinct or some cases command from a higher ranked zombie controlling a horde of lesser zombies. Whom act on primal craving to feed and restock loss energy, from time to time.] She explained, to which Kyle listened.

Adding to the information acquired about the fantasy world.

[They’re literally mindless puppets, prisoners to their own desires. They feel no pain, but an insatiable urge to feed. While the dargon’s possess a well functioning brain. Though at a low stage, I can’t affiliate with the rank. They show signs of intelligence more human than beast.]

Placing his hand on his chin, a light frown crept to his face. ’If what you’re saying is true, then there’s a possibility someone out there is slicing human DNA and combining them with beasts.’

[Yes, though there’s a barrier. Which is the splitting and combination of two opposing cells, requires a complicated procedure of anatomy. Forming new mutated singular reproducing cells. Which unfortunately, scientific studies haven’t shown a breakthrough yet.]

Hearing that, he found it a bit weird snow used the term scientific studies. Which was general, than being specific to Earth’s limitations.

Stating Lumia kingdom, and possibly other technologically advanced planets were included.

"So you’re saying the two genes are rejecting each other. Leading to a particle breakdown of molecular infrastructure?"

[Bingo! Hehe~ you’re starting to sound like an old sensei. Master.] Snow joked, earning a light chuckle from Kyle.

[Just as you’ve guessed, this causes the formation of an imbalanced core. Inhabiting disintegrating energy, eating away at the beast life force like a parasite. Requiring the replenishment of energy from mana stones.

"Imbalanced cores huh? I didn’t think they’d be able to form cores." Kyle muttered with sincerity.

[All living things has one Kyle, you just haven’t searched deep enough.] Snow softly giggled at Kyle’s intrigued nature.

Taking some steps; "If they’re a ticking time bomb, then what happens to their cores after they due? Is it useful or not?"

[Well, that solely depends on a dargon’s cause of death. If they had not died naturally, then their cores are useless. But if they were killed before their cores disintegrated, then there’s a limited amount of time the core can be used.]

"I see~" He sighed, his head lowered a bit.

The reason he’d asked that question, was because he planned on farming dargon’s core. With the kingdom shaken and troy’s condition unknown, this was the best opportunity he had.

’But who would be capable of doing such?’

To split a human gene required humans. Meaning there were possibilities of innocent humans, snatched and held up somewhere. Being used as disposable guinea pigs and lab rats.

[It’s not them.] Snow clarified his suspicions, about some specific individuals.

’Why? It perfectly suits their nature, not to mention their hatred for humans during athos fall.’

[You’re not thinking straight, Vladimir, Lucifer and other higher beings have one thing in common. Dominion energy, more pure and refined. Enabling them to easily create puppets through their energy or skills. The dargon’s on the other hand, are a failed creation of lesser ranked individual.]

[Whose ability is related to gene transformation and enhancement.]

Listening to her, made his blood boil more. His parents were a perfect example of such unfortunate atrocious practice.

Glancing over the direction of the explosion, there were still vivid traces of black smoke protruding to the sky. A vast massive hole created from the large catastrophe.

"If the beast is dead, then does that mean he also died?" He questioned.

Troy was powerful and all, but he doubt even the self proclaimed ruthless king could survive such blast on low mana, without Lynn’s ability.

"Don’t loose faith in your king peasant." A familiar voice reached his ears.

Turning, he saw Troy standing there, his body a complete mess. Missing his left arm, along with half of his body scorched black.

"How many times have I told you~" Kyle muttered, lowering his head. Making his way to Troy.

"You mean nothing to me!" Kyle yelled, hitting Troy in the cheek. Not holding back at all, using his full strength.

’Thud!’

The king’s body fell to the floor with a thud, unconscious.

[You know, he’s the main reason any of us is alive now. And as much as you hate him, he saved your life. So killing him now, like this changed nothing.]

Clenching his fist, his eyes were already an ominous red. Fueling the deadly spark in his soul to end Troy once and for all.

"One day."

Crouching down down a bit, he picked troy’s leg. Dragging him across the floor towards the castle, the wind brushing against his skin.

"It’s been a long day." He sighed, gazing up at the dark clouds. Mixed with blue lightning.
