Triple X System-Chapter 223: The great liberation
Meanwhile, out in the outskirts of Lumia kingdom a bit from the castle. There laid nothing but a barren field of sand and dust towards the south. Which was the infamous one wastelands, home to predatorial beasts and bandits, outlaws, con artists, and basically the most crooked criminals.
Opposite it however to the north, was a more inviting sight. With a more smooth and levelled concrete floor. Encompassed by plain fields, with little signs of vegetation in view.
But that wasn’t the eyecatcher, no! Floating majestically in the air were crystal clear ponds of water. Looked to have been frozen in time, softly swaying naturally to the air low air humidity present here.
And if one walked some distance, a cavee could be seen in front. It’s walls adorned with various blue mana crystals, illuminating the dark space. Giving it and enchanting and elegant sensation, just like in the fantasy novels.
’What’s taking this long?’ Reze inwardly grumbled, tapping her fingers on a desk.
After her infamous fight and expert leadership in commanding the space guard troop against the dargon’s, she’d been involuntarily retired her to rest.
Along with the remaining survivors of the kingdom, awaiting the unforseen faith awaiting them.
’Boom! Boom!’
They were currently underground in one of the many secret safe bunkers of Lumia kingdom. Made with sturdy blocks and steel under bars, sitting on a strong foundation and rooftop.
Almost 17 feets underground, it was built in store exactly for unprecedented situations like these. Undetectable to scanners and ability users, concealing all traces of mana energy. Powered by an anti-malware device, containing all the data and some equipments from the teleportation console.
"Several explosions keep going off threatening to collapse the room but why do I have a strong feeling this is far from the end?" Lowering her head down a bit, she tightly clenched her fist with a frown.
As lumia’s head scientist, she was confident in her words. Placing her life to them, if the occasion called for it. But now, not only had her valued life’s work been breached, but also her self-esteem and ego.
"Damn beasts! Just die already." She cursed, gritting her teeth together.
’Knock! Knock!’
Two heavy Knicks came from the wooden door, in front of the room she was currently in.
"Come in." She said, the door sliding back open. With the emergence of two space guards of opposite gender.
"Miss Reze, forgive our sudden intrusion but-" The young man in his 20’s paused with slick black hair, combed back started. Stopping mid sentence, hesistant to complete his words.
"The citizens, their starting to panic and stir up trouble the longer this progresses." Layla, the beauty with bright pink hair tied by the side in two ponytails continued.
Her tone carrying a hint of urgency, highlighting how bad the situation was getting.
"I see~" Reze let out a weak sigh, collapsing to the comfy spinning chair.
She was well aware internal conflicts and pandemonium was bound to happen. Amongst groups of people in hiding, so it wasn’t that much of a big deal.
"I’ll be out to give a speech of reassurance in some minutes." Reze casually spoke, her eyes lazily scanning through some holograms of the dargon’s.
"You don’t understand miss Reze." Lucias continued, regaining himself. "We already tried to curb the situation, until they started questioning the king’s rule against this invasion." He concluded, making Reze pause in her work.
Her eyes slightly twitching with anger, followed with the frequent trembling of her hands. Not shaking in fear, but pure anger and disgust of replysion towards a specific item or individual.
’Freaky~’ Layla slightly shrieked, gulping a bit.
As an ability user, even she didn’t stand a chance against the darker shade of green skinned dargon’s. Relying mostly on energy weapons, created by none other than the legendary brilliant top tier scientist Lumia kingdom possessed.
’Even with an ability I was forced into hiding. But miss Reze stood her ground against those beasts without any trace of mana, leading a small troop of space guards without any casualties.’
Her eyes lit up with admiration staring at Reze, still fuming in anger.
As a space guard, they swore loyalty to protect the kingdom with their lives. But having a weak ability with slightly above average physical fitness just didn’t cut it against stronger foes.
"Even without an ability or aura she’s still as terrifying as ever." Lucia’s muttered, captivated under reze pure natural instincts.
"M-miss Reze?" He called out, careful not to tuck the mad scientist off more.
"I see, I’ll be out there in a moment." She slowly uttered, in a calm tone.
"Of course." With a slight nod, Lucia’s along with Layla took their leave. Heading back to their respective positions, through the passage wth lit up flames.
Passing by some fellow space guards standing watch. Bursting out to the center ground platform, filled with dozens of people.
"What the hell are those things!?" An average man with short dark hair exclaimed.
His face filled with horrors of someone, presented face to face with a ghost.
"A demon I tell ya. Demons sent from the pit of hell by the devil himself to punish us for our souls." An older woman with grey hair in a black coat spoke, leaning against a wall. Puffing on her wooden pipe, exhaling 3 rows of smoke.
"I-i don’t want to die just yet, I’m still so young! I haven’t even achieved more goals yet." The bald man with a round belly bellowed, with eyes filled with dread.
"Jeez~ what a load of idiots." Lucia’s scoffed, with a light frown.
Just like Reze, he was disgusted by the people of Lumia kingdom. But as a space guard born and raised here, he was bound by his duty and oath to serve the kingdom.
But, there were times he regretted taking this role. One of them being this.
"There is a way out though." She continued, puffing on her pipe more.
"W-what!? Spill it out already? What’s the way out of this hell hole, gold? Mana stones? Diamonds?" Bartholin the chubby man pleaded, flashing gold and other notable items to her.
Seeing this, a sly smile crept to the old woman’s lip. "This and another thing." She smiled, taking the small chests filled with gold coins and diamonds.
"What is it? Please, I have a family. T-they can’t die now!" Liam, the average man from earlier butted in.
"It’s simple, the demons require just one thing." She paused, further heightening the tension in the air. "They require a sacrifice."
"A sacrifice?" Bertha, the female escorts said with a brow raised in confusion.
"Yes, a sacrifice." Katie replied, her lips pursed upwards. Revealing some wrinkles at the sides of her lips and cheek.
"Like in making atonement with blood?" Liam questioned.
"Not just any blood, but the blood of the royals." She blurted out, earning small gasps from the crowds of people that’d now gathered here. Listening to her words intensively like their lives depended on it.
"B-but that includes not just the nobles but the king and the princesses." Bartholin frowned, sweat dripping down. His head a bit.
The majority present here were commoners, average middle class people surviving on crkbs left by the rich. And while he was slightly richer than most middle class people, he was still degraded as an average class citizen.
He was far from being regarded as a commoner of peasant. The lowest of the bottom in the ranking of status in the kingdom.
"Bastards!" Layla frowned, her hand placed to the hilt of her blue energy sword. Shielded in a sleek black energy containment scabbard.
"Wait, they’re not worth it." Lucia’s held her by the shoulder, stopping her before she even moved.
"B-but, we can’t possibly sit here and listen to them tarnish the king and nobles names." She shot back, puffing her cheeks in anger.
"Sighs.. I understand your reasons but, it’s a direct rule set up by the king himself not to meddle with internal affairs." Lucia’s replied, with a conflicted look.
She could see it in his eyes, he was struggling to maintain his cool. Just like the other space guards present here, constantly risking their lives for the safety of the people.
"But-"
"Drop it. It isn’t our place to begin with, we have an oath to uphold regardless of the condescending remarks."
Shrugging her shoulders in anger, she scoffed standing in position besides Lucia’s.
....
"Exactly, think about it. Why now if all times they choose to strike, just after the completion of the 54th annual hunger games-" Katie paused, glancing in the direction of Lucia’s and Layla.
"And the arrival of his bastard daughter and disgraceful ex heir to the throne." She smiled, knowingly emphasizing those words to reach the duo’s ears.
Glancing at Lucia’s he shook his head, debunking Layla from making a move.
"Screw this~" Layla cursed, heading to a different section of the platform.
"B-but how? We’re literally powerless against the space guards, not to mention going up against higher ranked nobles would be suicide!" Bertha hinted the flaws in her plan, shaking her head.
Chuckling a bit, the woman emerged from the shadows. Her blue eyes complimenting her striking sharp facial feature. Toppled with her grey hair, reaching shoulder length.
"We won’t have to lift a finger, not while the demons are at work. They will purge this kingdom of the thorns and build a new world where there are no division of ranks." She declared with a wild grin, raising both her hands like a bird.
"I’ve seen visions of it, but I never thought it’d be this soon. The great liberation!" She excitedly spoke, cackling like an old witch without a care in the world.
