Chapter 464: 8.64 She Is Coming

When the blinding light subsided, Lu Yizhou’s body was sore and achy all over. He leaned against the shield and gulped down one stamina potion, health potion and strength potion simultaneously. Even then, his chest was still heaving from the aftermath. Goddamnit! Diana was right, Luca’s strength was really no joke at all!

In one glance, the entire room was completely scorched in black. The air was suffused in smoke and the burnt stench was so overpowering that Lu Yizhou felt his throat go dry. He coughed and swept his gaze toward Olivia who was crouching on the ground with her head ducked between her arms and Ji Yan, who was covering her body with his. Both of them looked the worse for wear with their dusty clothes and burnt hair. Even Lu Yizhou, who had been holding the front line, looked way better.

"Are you guys okay?" He asked dryly.

"Y–Yes." Ji Yan finally lifted his head and heaved out a sigh of relief. He helped Olivia up and both of them drank their potions. Ji Yan patted his chest. "Holy shit, that was terrifying. Miss Irene, your shield is superb! Is that one of your witch’s power?" 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

The corner of Lu Yizhou’s lips twitched. He could not say that it was Ella’s gift or else the favoritism would be blatantly exposed to the light of the day. "...Somewhat."

Ji Yan gave him a thumbs up. "That’s so cool!"

Lu Yizhou’s shield started to dissipate and he straightened up, face turning grave. "Use the comb to summon Madam Knox here so she can help you fight him. I will leave him to the both of you. Can you do that?"

Ji Yan and Olivia sported the same bewildered expression. "W–What about you?"

"I have something I have to do." He clenched his fists. Ella and Ellie had said it. Only he could save them. Lu Yizhou had to move as soon as possible! He lifted his eyes and fixed the two protagonists with a solemn look. "My most precious treasure... I have to get them back. This is something I have to do myself."

He had no idea whether they could see the hint of plea and desperation in his tone, but in the end, they nodded.

"Go. We will be able to handle Luca by ourselves," Ji Yan thumped on his chest. "Not to boast, but my luck is strong at a time like this and..." he cleared his throat, cheeks flushing as he stole glances at Olivia. "...I received a luck booster earlier."

Unfortunately, Olivia did not even deign him a glance. She told Lu Yizhou haughtily, "Don’t get yourself killed, bitch."

The corner of Lu Yizhou’s lips twitched and he had a sudden urge to reveal his real gender, just to see Olivia’s dumbfounded face. But in the end, he staunchly held himself back. He nodded in thanks and the second his shield completely shattered to pieces, he immediately shot past Luca who did not expect that sudden movement, straight toward the curtain that separated the room into two.

Behind him, Ji Yan hollered passionately. "Old man, we are your opponent so don’t get distracted, okay?!"

Luca barked out an enraged laugh. "Pardon?"

Lu Yizhou stepped behind the curtain and in an instant, the sound of the fighting behind him was cut off like someone had just pressed the pause button. He turned back, bewildered, and was shocked to see that instead of the curtain, he could only see a solid wall!

Neither Ji Yan, Olivia nor Luca could be seen. Not only that, the air also became totally different. Gone was the scorched smell of wood and suffocating smoke and instead, there was only the sweet smell of incense.

The floor under his feet was covered in thick, velvety carpet. A huge, antique chandelier hung from the ceiling and the floor was covered in dark brown wallpaper. The room was approximately twenty meters square and except for a simple door a few hundred meters in front of him that was leading to God-knows-where, it was completely bare.

It was like he had entered a completely different room. Or was it a shift in space?

Ozzie let out a sneeze. ’Daddy, I got a bad feeling about this smell meow! It’s really disgusting!’

’You’re right.’ Lu Yizhou covered his nose and mouth but in his current situation, there was nothing that could prevent him from inhaling the scent for a long period of time and it was not like he could hold his breath until the end either. He could only strive to get to his lover as soon as possible.

He had a feeling that he was already close to the truth!

"Is that you?" A sweet female voice suddenly echoed all around him. Lu Yizhou swiveled around in caution but he could not see where it was coming from. The room was completely bare so Lu Yizhou focused his gaze on the door. It must be the black witch who had kept Ella and Ellie captive as well as the bug he had to get rid of. "Is that you who has destroyed my precious collection?"

The lack of the hysterical tone in her voice confused him for a split second but when Lu Yizhou analyzed properly, he was certain this was the voice that had shrieked angrily before Luca arrived.

Come to think of it, it also sounded a little... familiar?

"I am," he taunted. There was no better way to force the enemy to show themselves other than provoking them into humiliation. "They are so weak and fragile that I can kill them with my bare hands. What are you going to do about it?"

There were two seconds of silence before a maniacal laughter broke out. It was not only the voice of one person, but many, many people. The distinct cadence of their voices made it difficult for Lu Yizhou to ascertain whether they were sobbing or laughing. One thing for certain was, it sounded so damn irritating like a nest of bees buzzing right beside his ears!

Before Lu Yizhou could lose his patience that was already infinitesimal to begin with, the voices suddenly died down one by one, until only one person was laughing. Her voice was lulling, soft and bewitching. It would sound great if not for the thick malice Lu Yizhou sensed underneath, forcing him to take a defensive stance.

His whole senses were on alert. He could feel it.

The black witch was coming.

Lu Yizhou had expected her, had expected the single door in front of him to swing open, but he certainly did not foresee that the woman that strolled out of it would have the same appearance as his!

That’s right, other than their hair color — the black witch’s was black — and the way they carried themselves, Lu Yizhou and this woman looked identical as though they were twins!

Wait. Twins...?

His eyes flew open in shock. He recalled Ella’s diary entry — "Today, two doctors came. One dressed in black and one dressed in white. They look so similar to each other if not for their different hair and dress color."

So the other doctor had been Irene all along?! This black witch was... Irene’s sister? Then Ella should have met Irene ten years ago when she first came to the mansion! But why didn’t she say anything? When Lu Yizhou thought of how he was blood related to this woman in front of him, he felt sick all over.

Misinterpreting Lu Yizhou’s reaction, the black witch became even more smug as she twirled her hair. "Hello, my lovely sister. You must be shocked to see me. After all, the last time you did, you had even made sure I died, even to the extent of sacrificing your witch’s core to deal a detrimental blow on me. How about it? To see the family you’re protecting with your life become my dolls to play with, does it feel good? You must be happy to be reunited with your dear big sister Maureen, right?

The words slipped out of Lu Yizhou’s mouth. "...Crazy bitch."

The black witch — Maureen — froze. She tilted her head and her smile turned sharper. "What did you say?"

"I say," Lu Yizhou sneered. "You crazy bitch. Irene should have done a better job to kill you."

"I knew it..." Maureen murmured softly as her smile turned eerie. "I have my own suspicions but... you are not Irene, aren’t you? My lovely Irene is gentle, meek and soft-hearted. She could not even bear to hurt an ant. But you’re not." Her voice hardened in an instant.

She swung her hand. As if on cue, the door behind her opened yet again and another person stepped out.

Lu Yizhou’s eyes widened as he saw who it was.
