Warm Married Life: Mr. President Loves His Darling Wife-Chapter 23 - 22: Another Audition
Bella Acker stared at the hamburger in her hand for a while before she spoke.
"I used to be an orphan, I grew up without any parents in a welfare institution. When I went to elementary school, every time I passed by a place like this, I couldn’t help but stop and watch those kids gobble down hamburgers with their parents. At that time, I would swallow my saliva and think, this must be the best-tasting thing in the world." Bella said, and tears suddenly fell again, "But then, as I grew up a bit and could afford a hamburger, I didn’t have the courage to come here alone. Others came with their parents or friends, but I had no one. Later, when I had someone by my side, he wouldn’t let me eat these things."
Sandra Woods felt a pang of sadness and guessed that Bella’s mood was bad because of her boyfriend. She joked intentionally, "Don’t be upset, whenever you want to eat, Aunt Shannon will bring you here! I promise you’ll get to eat until you feel like puking."
"Sorry, for letting you hear all this." Bella wiped her tears with one hand.
"Silly. We are friends, aren’t we supposed to share our feelings?" Sandra handed her a tissue and said, "Don’t cry. Your eyes are swollen. So ugly."
"Okay." Bella sniffed and forced a smile before lowering her head to take a bite of the hamburger in her hand.
It wasn’t the taste she imagined, probably not even that delicious. But she silently finished the entire hamburger, fulfilling a childhood dream.
Sandra looked at her pale face, feeling a bit distressed. But the relationship between them hadn’t reached the point where she could truly ask about personal things, so she just sat with her.
Once Bella finished eating, she said, "Oh right, Shannon, I have an audition to go to this afternoon. If you’re free, could you come with me?"
"Sure." Sandra replied, "I drove today anyway, where is the audition?"
"It’s still with the ’Brocade River and Mountain’ crew, but the audition is for Hera." Bella said, "They think I’m small enough to fit Hera’s character, so they want me to give it a try."
"Really? That’s great." Sandra said, "How are you preparing? If you succeed, we can at least stay together in the crew for two months."
Bella touched her cheek a bit embarrassed, "I was planning to delve into how to portray Hera last night, but I fell asleep."
"You. What time is the audition?" Sandra tapped Bella’s forehead. Perhaps because Bella looked really young, Sandra unconsciously treated her like a younger sister.
"Three o’clock."
"Then we have two more hours. Let’s find a quiet place to practice the role."
"Okay."
The two of them went back to Solis Park and found a secluded corner, practicing the role until a little past two, then drove to the audition location.
The place wasn’t far, and there was no traffic at this time in the afternoon, so when they arrived, it was still over twenty minutes before three.
The staff member was the same as yesterday. Seeing Bella and Sandra, he smiled and said, "Ms. Acker, the director and everyone are here as well. Do you want to prepare a bit, or go directly to the audition?"
"I’ll go now."
They had just practiced enough in the park, and without feeling too nervous, it was better to do the audition while the feeling was still there.
Sandra gave her a hug, "Good luck. You can definitely do it."
