Laurent had spent the entire day at the factory, and Adeline said she would come pick her up for dinner in the evening.

However, Laurent didn’t expect that as soon as she stepped out of the factory gates, she would not only see Adeline but also Leonardo.

Leonardo was wearing a cap with the brim pulled low, and driving an ordinary car. Adeline didn’t recognize him at first, though she felt that the man seemed vaguely familiar.

It wasn’t until Laurent introduced them that Adeline suddenly recalled that Leonardo was the popular celebrity who had recently become quite famous.

Adeline and Laurent had reunited after Laurent’s marriage at Burg Eltz, so she was unaware of Leonardo’s existence.

Laurent gave them a brief introduction, mentioning that Leonardo was his college classmate, but anyone with sharp eyes could tell that there was something unusual about Leonardo’s attitude toward Laurent. As a result, Adeline couldn’t help but glance at Leonardo again.

Adeline had also brought her new boyfriend along. His name was Eddie.

Eddie was Adeline’s middle school classmate, the same age as her. He was now the owner of a private company specializing in reinforcing steel and building materials, and he was doing quite well in his career.

After a brief introduction among the four of them, Laurent, feeling a bit of a headache, looked toward Leonardo and said,

"I’m going to have dinner with Adeline and the others, you..."

Laurent was about to say "do as you please," but hesitated and didn’t quite manage to say it out loud.

Little did she know that Leonardo had come here to wait for her. He had called her during the day, and she had told him she would be working overtime all day. He hadn’t said much after that, only asking for the name of her factory.

They were supposed to go to a restaurant for dinner, but what if Leonardo followed them and attracted unwanted attention?

Leonardo, feeling hurt, said,

"I’ve been holed up in the hotel waiting for you all day. After finally waiting for you to finish work, you’re asking me to leave?"

"You’re a big celebrity, it wouldn’t be convenient for you to come with us."

Laurent voiced her concerns.

After all, he was so famous. She didn’t want her dinner with Adeline and Adeline’s new boyfriend to turn into a fan signing event for him. Plus, she still needed to help Adeline with some matters.

Eddie, standing nearby, smiled and intervened to smooth things over.

"How about this? Let Leonardo join us. I own a restaurant, so we can go there. We can enter through the back door and head straight to a private room. I’ll have the staff keep things confidential."

Adeline also thought this was a good idea and agreed,

"Right, we’ll go to my restaurant. It’s very private, so no one will see us."

Actually, Adeline also wanted to spend more time with Leonardo. Just as Laurent hoped Adeline could find a new place in life, Adeline also wished for Laurent to be happy.

Leonardo seemed to gladly accept the suggestion. Since all three of them agreed, Laurent had no choice but to compromise.

So, the four of them got into their cars and left one by one.

Adeline and Eddie were in one car, while Laurent and Leonardo were in another. Eddie led the way, and the four of them drove toward the restaurant Eddie owned.

Across the street, a Maybach slowly came to a stop. Inside the car, Morrison watched the four of them exchanging pleasantries, introducing each other, and leaving together. He also took a few photos.

He casually sent them to Dave, along with a comment:

"It’s the perfect rhythm of everyone meeting their new boyfriends."

After waiting for a long time without receiving a reply from Dave, Morrison thought to himself that Dave had probably passed out from anger.

He picked up his phone and continued typing:

"I’ve looked into what you asked. Leonardo’s on vacation right now, and it seems like he plans to stay here for a while."

After learning that Leonardo had arrived, Dave had asked him to find out Leonardo’s recent schedule.

It turns out, he’s on vacation. Clearly, Leonardo’s taking this time off to chase after Laurent.

Finally, Dave replied:

"Contact his agency and arrange some work for him—get him to leave immediately!"

He added an exclamation mark, showing his anger. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

Morrison understood his intent and teased him with a smile:

"Are you okay?"

There was no response this time.

Morrison knew Dave well—he wouldn’t admit anything if he was upset.

He casually put away his phone and started the car, driving off.

He would head back to Burg Eltz soon. He had initially wanted to meet Laurent before leaving, but now it seemed impossible—Laurent was already out for dinner with someone.

He’d heard that someone had instructed their daughter to ruin the dinner between Laurent and Leonardo last night, but trying the same tactic today with the daughter probably wouldn’t work.

For Dave, though, at least today, the four of them were dining together. Though the pairing off of couples irritated him, it was still better than seeing Laurent alone with Leonardo.

He could only endure it.

He couldn’t go back now, as the work here was tricky, and he needed to personally oversee things.

However, he wouldn’t let them enjoy themselves without any consequences.

Laurent, Adeline, and the others went to the restaurant Eddie owned. Eddie had arranged everything in advance, so they went straight through the back door into the private room.

After they sat down and ordered their food, Laurent went to wash her hands in the restroom, and Adeline followed.

The two of them had a brief conversation outside, mainly about Eddie.

Adeline mentioned that Eddie had pursued her in the past, but they were all quite young at the time, so she didn’t take it seriously.

After they graduated, they lost contact. Adeline went to Burg Eltz, while Eddie seemed to have moved to another city. Then, everyone got married and had children, and they only reconnected during a class reunion last year.

When Eddie heard that Adeline had divorced, he started pursuing her again.

Eddie himself had also been divorced. After getting married, he focused entirely on his business. Then, he moved away for a few years, neglecting his family. His wife couldn’t stand the loneliness and had an affair, so they divorced.

Eddie and his ex-wife had a son. After the divorce, the child stayed with Eddie and was now being looked after by his parents.

Adeline said that Eddie had been pursuing her for the past year. After her divorce, she had become a little disheartened and wasn’t thinking about starting another relationship. However, there was one thing Eddie said that moved her.

Eddie had said, "We’ve both been through marriage, so we understand better than others how to cherish each other and this relationship."

Those words made Adeline decide to invest in this relationship.

After hearing this, Laurent couldn’t help but feel deeply moved.

"From what he said, it’s clear that he’ll cherish you, Adeline. I wish you all the best."

Before hearing Adeline’s words, Laurent had already had a good impression of Eddie.

He was polite, balanced, and showed great care for Adeline. When someone truly loves another, you can see it in their every action.

Adeline smiled and said,

"That big star isn’t bad either. What do you think?"

Laurent sighed,

"Adeline, you should understand what I’m thinking."

She had told Adeline all about her love and hate for Dave.

After such a deep and painful love, how could she just accept someone else so easily?
