You're Just My Ex-Husband,My Lord-Chapter 104- speechless
He never sang. Of course, given his status, no one dared to ask him to sing, so he had always been carefree.
Now, his daughter said he needed to sing to coax her...
He couldn’t help but frown. What kind of strange temper was this? If she was angry, she wanted someone to sing to her?
Of course, he didn’t know that the little girl was just speaking out of habit. A child over three years old wouldn’t know how to comfort someone. She only remembered that one time she sang, and her mother stopped being angry, so she thought her mother liked to listen to songs.
Also, between a mother and her child, there wasn’t a specific thing that would always make the mother smile. Anything the child did that was beautiful or kind could make the mother happy.
Dave had come to ask his daughter for advice, but her suggestion made him frown. What if he couldn’t do it?
But, he couldn’t think of another way. He gritted his teeth and asked his daughter again,
"Then what song does your mom like to listen to?"
The little girl didn’t even look up as she replied,
"’The Little Bug Flies.’"
Dave was momentarily stunned. What song was that?
He was about to ask his daughter again, but she had already taken the pile of clothes he bought her and went to find Tiffany, eager to try them all on, and didn’t want to talk to him anymore.
So, Dave had no choice but to take out his phone and search for the song. After finding it and listening to it, he realized it was a nursery rhyme. No wonder the little girl could sing it.
So, did that mean he had to sing this kind of song to ask for her forgiveness for the careless words he said while drunk?
Since Laurent returned to work, she had been busy every day, with no time for anything else, even spending her weekends working overtime at the factory.
Anyway, when she had free time at home, there was nothing much to do. She now lived with her parents, both of whom were retired and staying at home. She didn’t have to worry about anything in the house.
Her mother made all three meals a day, and sometimes her father would cook as well.
She didn’t have to clean, nor did she have to deal with the little messy things around the house. All she had to do was wash her own clothes and eat and sleep.
Her cooking skills were excellent, but her parents didn’t let her cook.
Before the divorce, she always had to think about what she needed to do when she opened her eyes in the morning. In fact, nothing was particularly important, but there was always something she had to do.
Her current situation was a sharp contrast to when she was married, when she was always busy with a bunch of trivial matters.
After the divorce, she did reflect on why her marriage had failed. She had loved so deeply, giving her whole heart to it.
After reflecting, she thought that maybe it was because she had loved too humbly, had no sense of self, and had been too dependent on the other person, which caused the love to be unappreciated.
That’s why she now focused on her work, wanting to build her own career. This way, even if she entered a new relationship in the future, she wouldn’t find herself in the passive position like in her previous marriage.
And because she had been so busy, she completely forgot her own birthday.
On Saturday morning, she finally had a good rest.
There was no shipment from the factory this week, so she didn’t need to oversee production in the workshop. After a busy month, she wanted to give herself a break. Only by resting well could she have the energy to face the challenges ahead.
Recently, because of her hard work and dedication, Danny mentioned that there would be a sales exhibition soon and wanted her to attend.
At the sales exhibition, there was potential for her to develop her own clients, so the factory manager encouraged her to go. It was a recognition of her work ability, and Laurent valued this opportunity greatly.
However, her biological clock had already been set. Even though she wanted to sleep in, she still woke up around 6:30 every morning.
Not wanting to get up, she just lay there on the bed, scrolling through her phone, looking at pictures and videos of her daughter.
Sometimes when she missed her daughter, she would watch the photos and videos she had recorded for her. And sometimes, when she felt tired, she would look at them too.
Seeing her little girl would instantly give her the motivation to work harder and strive for success.
She had to work hard, to improve, and to be a good role model for her daughter.
Last week, she had heard that Dave was still on a business trip, so she purposely went to Burg Eltz. She visited her daughter and arranged not to meet her this weekend.
Her excuse was that she was busy with work, but in reality, she knew Dave would be back this weekend and wanted to avoid him.
She hadn’t looked at many photos when suddenly, an unknown number called. She picked it up, and to her surprise, her daughter’s excited voice came through the phone.
"Mom, mom, guess where I am now?"
Laurent, surprised, played along and asked,
"Where are you now?"
"I’m at a hotel! It’s the one near grandma’s house!"
Her daughter shouted excitedly on the other end of the line, and from her voice, it was clear that she was thrilled.
"How did you get here? Who are you with?"
Laurent was startled and sat up from the bed. As a mother, her first reaction was to worry about her child’s safety.
On the other end of the line, the little girl excitedly shouted,
"Mom, happy birthday! I came here with dad to celebrate your birthday!"
When Laurent heard her daughter’s birthday wishes, she finally realized that today was her birthday, and she felt both happy and touched.
However, upon hearing that she was with her dad, all the joy was instantly diminished.
Before she could say anything, the phone was taken over by Dave, and his voice came through, sounding lazy from just waking up as he explained,
"We arrived last night and stayed here for the night."
Then he added,
"Did we disturb your sleep? Emma woke up just now, and insisted on calling you to wish you a happy birthday. She wanted to surprise you."
In fact, Dave had brought their daughter here the night before to surprise Laurent for her birthday.
He had originally planned to call her after getting a good night’s sleep and getting ready, but after Emma woke up around six in the morning, she was so excited she couldn’t sleep, insisting on calling her mom immediately. Dave reluctantly agreed to her wishes.
Laurent was left speechless on the other end of the line.
What was the point of him bringing their daughter here to celebrate her birthday?
