Chapter 111: Chapter 111- What danger?

After arriving at Burg Eltz, Laurent had a quick lunch at the station before taking a taxi to the hotel. After checking in and settling into her room, she headed over to Vivian’s house.

Marylin had arrived earlier in the morning and was already at Vivian’s house, playing with the baby.

Zoey still hadn’t arrived. Like Laurent, she had been delayed by work, but since she lived nearby, she’d quickly taken a bus. Zoey, on the other hand, had come from Shanghai, and it was still uncertain what time she would arrive.

When Laurent reached Vivian’s house, Vivian and Marylin were chatting in the living room while Frank was busy taking care of the baby, changing diapers and soothing the child.

Laurent and Marylin hadn’t seen each other in a long time, so they naturally exchanged warm greetings.

After the pleasantries, Marylin teased Laurent,

"You’ve finally decided to share some of your love with us, huh? In the past, it seemed like you only had eyes for the kids and Dave, and we were all left in the sidelines."

Laurent, aware of her past situation, laughed and replied to Marylin,

"From now on, I’ll only love you guys."

"No!"

Marylin feigned shock,

"You’d better keep finding a man to love, or else you’ll end up with a hormonal imbalance!"

Vivian, who was sitting nearby, teased her,

"You’ve been without a man for so many years, but I’ve never seen you experience any imbalance."

Marylin raised her hand to touch her big wavy hair, looking seductive as she replied,

"It’s because I’ve been without a man for so long, I’ve gotten used to it. You guys, on the other hand, are used to the comfort of having a man. When that’s suddenly gone, that’s when you’ll feel out of sync and unbalanced."

Marylin’s beauty was striking, and every move she made was full of charm.

Yet, for someone so captivating and alluring, it was truly unfathomable that she didn’t have a boyfriend.

Vivian, who was almost enchanted by Marylin’s presence, muttered bitterly,

"Look at you with that seductive look. How come no one’s taken you?"

"The exterior may be seductive, but as long as the heart isn’t wild, no one can take advantage of me."

Marylin replied with confidence.

Laurent then chimed in,

"Tsk tsk, how can you, an unmarried young woman, speak so boldly?"

"Unmarried young woman? You should call me an unmarried old virgin or a woman of a certain age."

Marylin made a face at the term, then laughed heartily,

"You probably don’t know this, but nowadays, unmarried women know more than you married ladies!"

Laurent laughed along,

"I’m not a married lady. I’m a divorced lady."

Speaking of this, the topic inevitably shifted back to her and Dave.

Vivian hummed and asked,

"Why didn’t Washington’s driver come to pick you up?"

That day, Laurent was so startled by his sudden apology that she had mentioned it to them, along with various things Dave had done after their divorce. Vivian had immediately started referring to him as "Washington’s driver."

Laurent rolled her eyes at Vivian.

"Why would he come to pick me up? I’d rather he never show up in front of me again."

Ever since he took their daughter last week, Laurent hadn’t had any contact with Dave. She had enjoyed some peace and quiet.

Marylin suggested,

"Once Zoey gets here, we should sit down and analyze this. Let’s figure out what Dave really feels about you. Honestly, I think he’s in love with you."

Laurent immediately denied it,

"Impossible, you’re overthinking it. He’s just not willing to accept that I filed for divorce, so he keeps bothering me like this."

"No! No! No!"

Marylin insisted on her viewpoint,

"If he was just messing with you, why would he apologize and try to send ambiguous gifts like a lover’s knot?"

Before Laurent could respond, Vivian’s phone rang. It was Zoey calling to let them know she was at the airport, getting ready to depart. Zoey apologized for being late and mentioned that she wasn’t sure exactly when she’d arrive.

The three women chatted at Vivian’s house for the entire afternoon. By the time it was almost time for the banquet, they packed up their things, big and small, and headed to the hotel.

As for the big and small bags, of course, they were all Vivian’s.

Diapers, milk powder, bottles, cups, and all sorts of other items—everything was in a mess.

Vivian was utterly exhausted, saying that ever since she had a child, every time she went out, it felt like she was moving house.

When they arrived at the hotel, Frank had indeed arranged a private suite for them, fully equipped with all amenities, including a bathroom. He had considered their privacy to ensure they wouldn’t run into anyone they weren’t supposed to meet.

Vivian and Frank went to the door to greet the guests, while Laurent and Marylin stayed in the suite to help Vivian take care of the baby.

Of course, most of the time, it was Laurent doing the caregiving, as she had experience taking care of a child. Marylin mainly helped by handing things to Laurent when needed.

Not long after, Vivian came back into the suite with Zoey, who had just arrived. The first thing Vivian did was scold Zoey.

"Hey, didn’t I say you should ride with Leonardo? Why did you come here on your own?"

Zoey smiled lightly.

"Wasn’t Leonardo’s flight later than mine? I thought I’d come early to meet all of you, so I just took a taxi."

Vivian was very worried.

"Ah, if you had told me earlier that you weren’t riding with Leonardo, I would have had Frank send someone to pick you up. It’s so dangerous for you to be alone."

Zoey didn’t think much of it.

"What danger? I’m used to being alone like this every day."

Marylin also chimed in,

"Yeah, we’re always traveling for business, flying from place to place, with no men to pick us up. We always take taxis to catch flights. You’re overreacting."

Vivian couldn’t say anything more. The person had already arrived, after all.

"Alright, alright. You guys chat. I’ve got to go handle something."

With that, she left.

After Vivian left, Laurent stepped forward, giving Zoey a big hug and a warm welcome.

"Zoey, long time no see!"

Laurent knew that Zoey was always passive—extremely passive. No matter what the situation, she would never take the initiative.

Sometimes, she would rather miss many opportunities than主动表达自己内心的想法.
