You're Just My Ex-Husband,My Lord-Chapter 114- Good luck!
She had already divorced him.
From now on, she had the right and freedom to fall in love with another man.
She had the right and freedom to have children with someone else.
She even had the right and freedom to treat him as a stranger and never cross paths with him again for the rest of their lives.
He had never been willing to acknowledge this reality, not until today, when his primary rival, Leonardo, coldly reminded him. His words not only mocked and wounded him but also woke him up completely.
Though his heart was a battlefield of confusion, he still forced a smile when facing Leonardo.
"Thanks for the reminder. Looks like I need to hurry."
Dave then turned his gaze toward Laurent, who was coming out of the restroom.
"Hurry before she changes her mind and before I lose her for good."
Upon hearing this, Leonardo smiled and returned the gesture with a grin of his own.
"Good luck!"
Though both men maintained a calm exterior, their eyes betrayed a deep mutual hostility.
Seeing Laurent emerge from the restroom, Zoey also got up and left for the restroom, purposely avoiding the silent battle of glares between Leonardo and Dave.
When Laurent came out, she went straight to Zoey’s seat, deliberately avoiding her own spot. She began chatting with Vivian and Marylin, making it clear she wasn’t returning to her seat.
When Zoey came out of the restroom, she saw Laurent sitting at her place and caught the helpless glance Laurent shot her way. She quickly understood what was happening.
However, Zoey didn’t move to sit between Leonardo and Dave. After all, the private room was large, the round table had plenty of space, and there were several empty seats nearby. She casually sat down at one of the other vacant spots.
The dinner continued, but now it was only Vivian and Marylin who were happily chatting. The only sounds around the table were their voices and laughter, while everyone else remained silent, focused on their meals.
Vivian’s attempt to create a private space had failed to either keep Laurent away from Dave or to foster a connection between Laurent and Leonardo.
By the end of the dinner, the little girl clung to Laurent, insisting on going to the hotel with her. Dave offered to take them, and Laurent reluctantly agreed.
After Dave drove Laurent and his daughter away, Marylin glanced at the direction their car had gone and sighed softly,
"Children are the bond between them that can never be severed."
After saying this, Marylin looked at Leonardo, making it clear that her words were meant for him.
Leonardo glanced at her but said nothing. Instead, he walked toward his car, opened the door, and turned back to invite her,
"Let’s go. I’ll give you a ride home."
"Oh? The big star is personally driving us home? How embarrassing," Marylin said, though she was already walking over to get into the car. Zoey, who had been silent the entire time, had no choice but to follow and get in as well.
The car stopped in front of the hotel where Marylin and the others were staying. As the two women were about to get out, Leonardo turned to them and asked,
"When’s your flight back tomorrow? I’m leaving in the afternoon as well, and if the timing works out, I can give you a ride to the airport."
"Sure," Marylin quickly agreed, then turned to Zoey with a playful tilt of her head,
"What do you think?"
Zoey chuckled and replied,
"Would you dare ride in his car to the airport? What if you’re photographed getting out of his car? His fans would be all over you, digging up your personal details—"
"Oh my god, Zoey, stop talking! I’m not going anymore!"
Marylin shuddered at the thought of that scenario and quickly declined Leonardo’s offer,
"Never mind. You go on your own tomorrow. We’ll just take a taxi to the airport."
Marylin had been so focused on trying to hitch a ride that she had momentarily forgotten Leonardo’s celebrity status.
The airport was one of the places stars were most likely to be photographed, and if they were spotted riding in the same car as Leonardo, who knew what rumors the gossipmongers would start spreading?
"If, like Zoey said, they end up getting exposed later, then we might as well not live anymore."
Leonardo, feeling helpless, said,
"Just be careful so you don’t get caught on camera."
"That’s not an option either."
Marylin firmly rejected the idea, and though Zoey stayed silent, she shared the same attitude as Marylin.
Leonardo was amused by their stubbornness and said with a laugh,
"With the way you two are, it’s like I can’t have any friends at all..."
"No, you can have friends, but just not female ones."
Marylin laughed heartily before saying goodbye,
"Alright, we’ll be on our way. From now on, let’s just be phone or online friends."
After speaking, the two hurriedly got out of the car and ran into the hotel. Leonardo helplessly glanced at their retreating figures before driving away.
Once inside the hotel, Marylin mumbled,
"With a celebrity like Leonardo, we really will only be able to be those kinds of phone friends from now on. There’s no need to meet in person anymore; it’s too frightening."
As women, gossip was in their nature. They’d seen too many celebrity scandals like "late-night meetings with female friends." While sometimes it was just a normal friendship, the media often jumped to conclusions and turned it into rumors about a romantic relationship.
With Leonardo’s current fame, if he gets involved in those kinds of rumors, they’d probably be exposed as well.
Once they’re exposed, the overwhelming flood of both positive and negative comments would be a nightmare.
Zoey agreed with Marylin’s point of view,
"So, it’s better to keep our distance."
The two continued chatting as they entered the elevator to head back to their room.
All three of their rooms were on the same floor, which had been arranged for convenience when they needed to meet or chat.
They figured Laurent had returned to the room before them and was likely inside, so they decided to go directly to Laurent’s room to have a conversation.
But when they reached the door of Laurent’s room, they heard voices inside—specifically, Dave’s voice.
The two quickly stopped in their tracks. Zoey tugged at Marylin and whispered,
"Should we go back?"
Marylin pulled her back, smiling as she lowered her voice,
"Don’t go, let’s listen to what they’re saying."
Zoey frowned,
"Isn’t this a bit inappropriate?"
Marylin kept holding onto her, preventing her from leaving,
"What’s the harm? Let’s hear what Dave is saying to Laurent. That way, we can help keep an eye on things for Laurent."
Zoey, unable to resist, was dragged along and leaned against the wall outside Laurent’s room to eavesdrop on the conversation.
Since it was already quite late after the banquet, her daughter had fallen asleep on the way to the hotel. After getting out of the car, Laurent had planned to carry his daughter back, but Dave insisted on carrying her upstairs. Not wanting to wake the child, Laurent had no choice but to let him.
After settling his daughter in the room, Laurent thought Dave would leave, so he immediately opened the door, making it clear he didn’t want him to stay.
However, to his surprise, Dave walked over, closed the door, and just as Laurent was about to protest, Dave pressed him against the wall by his shoulders. With a serious expression, he spoke,
"I have something to say to you!"
His tall frame and the hard wall behind Laurent trapped him. Laurent felt strangely suffocated. She tried to look away from him, but he grabbed her chin and forced her to face him. Annoyed, she glared at him and snapped,
"Just say it already!"
Dave narrowed his eyes.
"Some things aren’t over just because you say they are."
Laurent glared at him,
"What do you mean?"
He lowered his gaze, staring at her intently. Then, he reached up and caressed her cheek. His lips parted near her ear as he spoke, each word deliberate and clear,
"What I mean is, from now on, I’m officially pursuing you."
Laurent was deeply shocked, frozen in place. She stared at him in disbelief, unable to speak for a long time.
