Chapter 115: Chapter 115- I reject your pursuit

Her soft, rosy lips parted slightly in shock, glowing enticingly under the light. The perfect shape of her lips made one want to reach out and taste them.

Dave couldn’t resist. He leaned down and kissed her.

At the feel of the kiss, Laurent immediately snapped back to reality. She shoved him away and staggered back several steps, clutching her chest as she tried to steady her racing heart.

At that moment, she was sure she hadn’t misheard him—he really did say he was going to pursue her.

At first, when she’d heard it, she thought she had misunderstood.

After all, for so many years, she had always been the one taking the initiative—giving, loving, caring, and trying to please. She had gotten used to it.

For all these years, he had only been the one to take the lead in the bedroom.

And because she had never received a response from him, she had given up hope.

Now that he suddenly seemed to be the one taking the initiative, she was, of course, stunned.

While still in shock, Laurent couldn’t help but seriously doubt the truth of his words. The feeling of falling from heaven to hell was unbearable, and the sensation of rising from hell to heaven wasn’t much better, especially after she had already given up hope.

After taking some time to calm down and regain her composure, Laurent raised her eyes and looked at Dave with a calm expression. She asked coolly,

"You said you want to pursue me?"

Dave frowned at her question and the way she asked it.

"You don’t believe me?"

Her gaze was full of mockery; she clearly didn’t believe the words he had just spoken.

Laurent laughed, though her smile seemed somewhat desolate.

"Of course I don’t believe you. Only someone in love would pursue the other person. So, now that you’re saying you want to pursue me, do you love me?"

Dave’s frown deepened at her question. He narrowed his eyes, staring at her intently.

At this moment, Laurent, having completely lost hope in Dave, no longer feared hearing him say he didn’t love her or anything else that might hurt her. So, she tilted her head back and met his gaze calmly.

For a moment, neither of them spoke, simply staring at each other.

Outside, Marylin and Zoey, who were eavesdropping, were so nervous they felt like their hearts were about to leap into their throats.

After a long pause, Dave finally spoke.

"If what you call love is missing you when I can’t see you, aching when I can’t kiss you, longing for you when I can’t sleep with you... then I think, yes, I love you."

Laurent’s face instantly turned red from his answer, especially that part about "longing when I can’t sleep with you."

She never expected Dave to respond like that. She thought it would be a simple answer—either he loved her or he didn’t.

How could she know that after all the times Dave had made mistakes in front of her, he was now extremely nervous when asked this question? After a lot of thinking, he came up with this response. After saying it, he watched her closely, waiting for her reaction.

Laurent, with a flushed face, didn’t hesitate to scold him.

"You don’t love me, you’re just sick!"

His mind was full of thoughts about kissing and sleeping with her—was this love? This was just lust!

"Why don’t you believe what I’m saying?"

Dave looked both innocent and somewhat helpless.

"Then tell me, what is love in your eyes?"

Laurent was too angry to even speak. She didn’t have the energy to discuss love with him.

Dave continued,

"If you keep torturing me like this, I’ll really get sick and have to see a urologist."

Another shameless remark. Laurent was so angry she turned around, looking for something she could hit him with.

Dave took a few steps forward and pulled her into his arms. One hand wrapped around her waist while the other grasped her shoulder. He leaned in close to her, speaking intimately,

"I don’t desire any other woman. You’re the only one in my heart. I only want to be with you."

Laurent, furious, couldn’t help but laugh. She looked up at him,

"Oh, so you’ve tried it, huh?"

Dave thought back to the group of women Morrison had arranged for him that day, all dressed provocatively. He nodded seriously,

"More or less."

More or less? That was practically trying it. Those women were dressed so scantily it was almost like they weren’t wearing anything at all. Their seductive poses did nothing for him—he actually felt repulsed.

Laurent was so enraged she could hardly believe it. He *had* tried?

She raised her hand, pushed him away, and forcefully shoved him toward the door.

"Get out!"

"Hurry up and leave!"

"I reject your pursuit! From now on, don’t ever appear in front of me again!"

Of course, Dave wasn’t willing to leave, nor was he ready to accept her rejection. While she was pushing him away, he pulled her forcefully into his arms. Tired of arguing, he cupped her face in his hands, bent down, and claimed her lips in a ruthless kiss.

It had been so many days since he’d tasted her, and Dave let himself indulge, kissing her deeply and intensely.

Under his violent and passionate assault, Laurent could only make muffled, struggling sounds. Nothing could stop him.

When he finally released her, her hair was tousled, and her lips were painfully swollen. She was furious, shouting,

"Dave!"

After that hot and intense kiss, Dave’s breath was uneven. His dark eyes locked onto hers as he spoke,

"I’ve made myself clear. Whether you accept it or not, that’s your problem."

"Get some rest. I’ll come find you tomorrow."

Then, he turned, opened the door, and left.

In her anger, Laurent grabbed her small bag from the side and hurled it at him with all her strength.

But it was too late—the door blocked it. The bag hit the door and fell heavily to the ground, its contents spilling everywhere.

Laurent panted heavily, sitting against the wall, too exhausted to clean up the mess on the floor.

Her daughter, disturbed by the noise, tossed and groaned a few times before falling back to sleep.

Laurent sat there, dazed, replaying Dave’s words in her mind. Normally, she should have been moved and overjoyed by his confession, even crying tears of happiness.

But instead, all she could do was laugh bitterly.

When her love was passionate and intense, he had given her nothing but cold indifference.

And now, when her heart was completely dead, he came to her saying he loved her.

Wasn’t that just laughable?

Outside, Marylin and Zoey, after hearing the sounds of Laurent’s muffled struggles, had already left. The two of them returned to Zoey’s room next door.

Zoey handed a bottle of water to Marylin before speaking,

"What kind of man is Dave? After the divorce, now he says he loves Laurent."

Marylin took a few sips of water, then sharply criticized Dave’s behavior,

"This is what they call ’if you don’t court death, death won’t come for you.’" 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

Marylin analyzed Dave’s mindset,

"Clearly, Dave has been in love with Laurent for a long time, but he didn’t realize it. His proud self-esteem wouldn’t allow him to admit it, so he kept on hurting Laurent without a care. He never thought that one day, Laurent would actually get the courage to divorce him."

"So, after the divorce, he started to suffer. He couldn’t bear the torment of longing anymore, so now he’s trying to win her back."

Marylin concluded with her final thoughts,

"That’s the thing with men—so petty. You can’t spoil them. The more you spoil them, the more they think the world revolves around them. They think we can’t live without them."
