You're Just My Ex-Husband,My Lord-Chapter 113- change
As soon as Emma saw her mother, she happily ran over.
"Mom――"
Laurent quickly stood up to catch the little girl running toward her. Holding the little girl in her arms, she asked Emma to greet everyone. Emma had seen Marylin and Zoey in video calls before, so she cheerfully called out:
"Hello, Aunt Marylin!"
"Hello, Aunt Zoey!"
Then there was Vivian.
"Hello, Aunt Vivi!"
Emma had never met Leonardo before, so Laurent introduced him and encouraged her to greet him. The little girl wasn’t shy at all.
"Hello, Uncle!"
Leonardo responded with a charming smile.
Although Leonardo deeply disdained Dave for using his daughter as a way to get close to Laurent, he knew it had nothing to do with the little girl.
Emma blinked her bright eyes and generously complimented Leonardo.
" you’re so handsome!"
Leonardo couldn’t help but laugh. This carefree little girl reminded him so much of how Laurent used to be.
Raising his hand, Leonardo gently caressed the little girl’s soft, pink cheeks.
"Thank you."
The little girl continued,
"Aren’t you that famous movie star?"
Leonardo was surprised.
"How do you know me?"
The little girl giggled.
"lilian is your fan!"
Lilian, at her age, was the perfect target for getting starstruck by male celebrities. Almost every time a new male star appeared, she would gush over him for a while. Coincidentally, one of Leonardo’s movies was a big hit recently, and after watching it, Lilian became a devoted fan. She’d mentioned Leonardo to the little girl often enough for her to recognize him.
Someone’s expression darkened noticeably. No father would be thrilled to hear his daughter complimenting another man as handsome—especially when that man happened to be his rival. And to make matters worse, his sister was also a fan of that same man.
What made it utterly unbearable was that Leonardo even had the audacity to touch his daughter’s face. If it weren’t for the presence of so many people, Dave would’ve stepped in and slapped Leonardo’s hand away without hesitation.
Dave felt that, aside from himself, his father, and Laurent’s father, he couldn’t accept any other man touching his daughter—not even her face.
Stepping over to Marylin, who stood by Laurent’s side, Dave smiled politely and asked,
"Ms. Marylin, could I trouble you to give me your spot? I’ll need to take care of my daughter during the meal."
Dave’s shamelessness left Marylin, known for her sharp tongue, utterly speechless. After rolling her eyes dramatically, she got up and walked away, giving up her spot.
It wasn’t that Marylin wanted to accommodate him—she just genuinely didn’t know how to respond. Even sarcasm felt meaningless.
Taking care of his daughter during the meal? With Laurent there, did his daughter even need his care?
He made himself sound like the epitome of a great man, but in truth, he was nothing more than an arrogant and ungrateful jerk.
Dave smoothly took the seat beside Laurent and pulled his daughter onto his lap, indirectly cutting off her conversation with Leonardo.
His uninvited arrival and self-serving actions left Vivian, the hostess, with no choice but to respond diplomatically.
"Lord Washington, welcome to our banquet."
However, unable to swallow her frustration, Vivian added,
"Although Frank arranged a seat for you outside, and it’s actually a seat of honor."
What was this all about? She had specifically arranged this private room to keep Laurent away from Dave and to help foster a connection between Laurent and Leonardo. And now, Dave had barged in, completely ruining her plans.
Dave showed no intention of leaving. Sitting comfortably, he said,
"It’s fine. I’ll just eat here. Emma wanted to see her mom—I couldn’t do anything about that."
Vivian was completely speechless now.
She really wanted to say,
You could just leave your daughter here with Laurent and go eat outside yourself!
However, she knew that saying something so harsh would only make things awkward and hurtful. So, she decided to remain silent, allowing Dave to join their table.
When Frank returned after entertaining other guests and saw Dave in their private room, he was quite surprised. But soon, he understood.
Glancing at Leonardo, Frank chose not to say much. Instead, he approached Dave to greet him.
Dave, wearing disposable gloves, was peeling shrimp at the moment. He held up the shrimp in his hand, gesturing to Frank that he was busy.
"Don’t mind me. Just carry on as you like. I’m here to spend time with my daughter," he said casually.
His tone was so nonchalant that Frank didn’t see the point in continuing the conversation. Instead, Frank took his seat and greeted Laurent, Leonardo, and the others.
Dave might have said *"carry on as you like,"* but how could they truly relax with him sitting there?
Besides, after eating just a few bites of food, Emma Washington had already run off to play with the baby in the stroller. She didn’t need anyone to keep her company at all.
Originally, the people at this table were a close-knit circle of friends. Now, with Dave, an outsider, forcefully inserting himself, their interactions were completely stifled, and they barely exchanged a word.
Zoey, who was naturally quiet, kept her head down and focused on eating.
After changing seats, Marylin sat next to Vivian and continued chatting with her.
Frank occasionally got up to check on the baby. As for Laurent, she was stuck between Leonardo on her left and Dave on her right.
Being sandwiched between the two of them was unbearably awkward. She didn’t feel like talking to either of them, so she too focused on her food.
Leonardo silently sipped his wine, while Dave busied himself peeling shrimp.
Laurent assumed he was peeling the shrimp for his daughter, but to her surprise, he pushed the plate of peeled shrimp toward her instead.
Laurent wordlessly pushed the plate back to him. Dave immediately frowned and asked,
"Why aren’t you eating?"
Laurent shot back with a question of her own,
"Why should I?"
If she wanted to eat shrimp, she could peel them herself. There was no need to eat the ones he peeled.
Dave stared at her and said,
"Don’t you love shrimp the most? I peeled these just for you—eat them while they’re still warm."
His sudden thoughtfulness sent an unsettling chill through Laurent. Feeling extremely uncomfortable, she abruptly stood up.
"Thanks, but I don’t like shrimp anymore."
Laurent turned and left, heading straight to the nearby restroom.
The commotion drew the attention of the others, who all glanced in their direction.
Dave was left sitting there with the plate of shrimp she had pushed back at him. His gaze darkened as he stared in the direction she had gone.
Next to him, Leonardo let out a mocking laugh.
"Lord Washington, people change."
The words were a subtle yet pointed reminder that Laurent’s love for Dave was no exception—it too had changed.
Dave turned his head, his cold eyes locking onto Leonardo.
He understood the blatant implication in Leonardo’s words. And it was in this moment, under the weight of that taunt, that Dave was forced to confront the truth: Laurent no longer belonged to him.
