Chapter 120: Chapter 120- Laurent belongs to Dave

Facing Leonardo like this, Laurent really didn’t know what to say. She tried to find someone who could ease the awkwardness, but Vivian and the others had already moved a few steps away as soon as Leonardo walked over to her.

It was still her daughter who saved the day. The little girl had been drinking yogurt with her head down, as Zoey had bought it for her. When she heard Leonardo mention the person he liked the most, she curiously looked up and asked,

"Uncle, who is the person you like?"

Leonardo had been looking deeply into Laurent’s eyes, but hearing the little girl’s question, he lowered his gaze and smiled at her, saying,

"Do you want to know?"

"Yes."

The little girl nodded enthusiastically, with white yogurt on her red lips, looking extremely cute.

Laurent kept signaling with her eyes for Leonardo to stop saying anything, as she didn’t want her daughter to know about the complicated relationships between the adults.

Leonardo glanced at Laurent, then raised his hand to tug at the little girl’s braid. Laurent had styled her hair into two braids today, paired with a little skirt, giving her a mischievous appearance.

"The person I like is your mom." 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

Leonardo answered the little girl. She thought for a moment after hearing this, then seriously told Leonardo,

"That’s not right!"

"Why?"

Leonardo feigned confusion and asked, and the little girl responded seriously,

"My mom belongs to my dad, so it’s not right for you to like her."

The little girl’s response made Laurent feel embarrassed. What did she mean by "belonging to Dave"? They were divorced, for goodness’ sake!

The little girl’s words were clearly in support of Dave, but Leonardo somehow found her incredibly cute, amusing even, and so he smiled and teased her,

"But they’re already divorced. Your mom doesn’t belong to your dad anymore."

The little girl got upset and stomped her foot, saying angrily,

"Even if they’re divorced, she’s still my dad’s!"

Laurent was left speechless, looking at Leonardo and signaling him to end the conversation before it went any further,

"Let’s stop here, or who knows what else we might end up saying."

The little girl shot Leonardo a defiant snort and said,

"I’m not playing with you anymore."

Then she stormed off to find Vivian and the others.

Leonardo watched her small figure leave and, squinting his eyes, asked Laurent,

"Do you think she could come up with that on her own?"

"It’s obvious someone’s been deliberately planting wrong ideas in her head, like saying you belong to Dave."

Leonardo was certain that those ideas had been instilled by Dave. The little girl, though quirky, wouldn’t have known to say something like that so early. She was too young to understand such things.

Leonardo believed Laurent could see it too, but he chose to bring it up intentionally, aiming to tarnish Dave’s reputation further in Laurent’s eyes, letting his image continue to decline.

Sure enough, Laurent’s face darkened after hearing his words, and she went to find her daughter to give her a lecture.

According to the little girl, Dave had indeed told her things like if another man liked her mom, she should tell them that her mom belonged to her dad, and that even after the divorce, she still belonged to him.

When her daughter was alone with her, Laurent didn’t know what they might encounter, and since he couldn’t be there, Dave had taken it upon himself to have their daughter defend his claim over Laurent.

Laurent was furious after hearing what Dave had said to their daughter. However, she felt helpless. She didn’t want to confront Dave directly, so she had no choice but to let it go.

After their game, Frank, Leonardo, and the others invited Laurent and the other three women to join them for a meal at a hotel.

With a group of friends like this, the women weren’t afraid to eat with Leonardo; if they got photographed, they could just say it was a friendly gathering. But if it was just them alone with Leonardo, they wouldn’t dare—it would be too ambiguous.

Once lunch was over, the gathering came to an end.

Laurent and the others were reluctant to part ways. Vivian was nearly in tears at the thought of leaving, acting like a mother as she urged Marylin and Zoey,

"I hope the next time we meet will be at your weddings. You can’t make us wait too long."

Then she added,

"By the end of the year, any of you getting married this year?"

Marylin rolled her eyes dramatically,

"My mom isn’t as eager as you!"

Vivian wiped away her tears,

"I’m really so worried about your lifelong matters."

Zoey, the other person involved, just smiled faintly and stayed silent.

Leonardo offered to send Laurent and the others back to the hotel to pack their things, but all three of them refused, afraid it would spark rumors. In the end, it was Vivian who drove them.

Leonardo stood there somewhat frustrated, watching the four women leave. Couldn’t he have female friends?

Frank tried to cheer him up,

"Just find a reliable woman and settle down. Once you’re married, no one will talk about rumors anymore."

Frank suggested that Leonardo find a reliable woman because, after seeing Dave’s behavior at the recent banquet, he felt that there was little chance left for Dave and Laurent.

After all, Dave’s strongest leverage was the fact that Laurent had once loved him deeply and wholeheartedly. As for Leonardo, despite the years, Laurent had never fallen in love with him. Even if Dave was still trying to win her back, or even if he wasn’t, based on Laurent’s attitude towards Leonardo, it seemed more like a brotherly friendship than anything romantic.

However, sometimes people are stubborn like that, knowing the outcome is unlikely, but still chasing after it. But, it’s this very stubbornness that often forms the foundation of what people call love.

When Leonardo heard Frank’s words, he chuckled bitterly,

"Even if I get married and settle down, if I occasionally meet a female friend, people will start talking about cheating or divorce. There will never be a quiet moment."

Frank thought about the experiences of many other celebrities and then patted his shoulder,

"Keep your integrity, and the shadows won’t follow you. If you get married in the future, just love her with all your heart and silence the critics with the truth."

Leonardo glanced at Frank but didn’t say anything.

After Laurent finished packing and said her goodbyes to Marylin and Zoey at the hotel, she took a taxi to drop her daughter off at Tiffany’s place.

While waiting for the taxi, the little girl told Laurent,

"Mom, I’m not living at Lilian’s house with grandmother anymore."

After Tiffany told Dave she wanted to move out, the very next day, Dave had already found them a new place. He bought it outright for her, not wanting his mother to continue living in a rental house at her age.

After hiring a cleaning service to thoroughly tidy the place, Tiffany went out to shop for some new furniture and then moved in with Emma Washington.

Laurent was quite surprised when her daughter mentioned the move.

"Huh? So where are you and Lady Tiffany living now?"

The little girl didn’t know the name of the new neighborhood, only saying it was near her kindergarten. Laurent had no choice but to call Tiffany to ask since she had to drop her daughter off.

Tiffany gave her the address over the phone, and Laurent took her daughter there by taxi.

On Tiffany’s side, after hanging up, she looked at her son, who was about to leave with bags of food in hand.

"Laurent will bring Emma back later. Do you want to wait for her?"

Tiffany pretty much knew her son’s feelings, so she tried to create an opportunity for him to spend time with Laurent.

However, seeing her son’s gloomy expression, she guessed he’d probably already met with Laurent but that the encounter hadn’t gone well.

Dave paused at his mother’s words, hesitating on whether to stay and wait, when Tiffany suddenly asked,

"Have you talked things through with Clark?"
