Chapter 121: Chapter 121- Gradual Seduction

Dave felt annoyed just thinking about it. Earlier that morning, he had another argument with Laurent over Clark.

He turned around and sat down on the sofa, talking to his mother.

"I’ve told her, don’t contact me with her problems anymore."

There was no issue with Clark, but the problem lay with Laurent. Dave continued,

"But Laurent is still upset about all of this."

"Rome wasn’t built in a day."

Tiffany advised her son gently.

"I think you don’t need to rush things now. You’ve just divorced. When Laurent thinks of you, the first thing that comes to mind are the hurts you caused her. The more you push, the deeper the resistance in her heart will grow."

Dave thought about his recent interactions with Laurent and realized his mother was right.

Even though he had confessed his feelings, she hadn’t reacted with any surprise. In fact, she became more distant and repelled.

He knew he had acted a little too hastily, but with Leonardo, the ticking time bomb, still around, and after eight years of knowing him, Dave felt anxious and, as a result, lost his composure.

Tiffany watched as her son’s furrowed brow began to relax and added with a final piece of advice,

"Love is built on mutual respect, understanding, and tolerance."

Dave looked at his mother, and a smile finally appeared on his face.

"Thanks."

His mother’s words had completely calmed him down. Upon reflection, he realized he had indeed made some mistakes, and it seemed he needed to come up with a new strategy.

Hmm, he could call his new plan:

Gradual Seduction.

He decided to take things step by step, at a slow pace. After all, they had never been in a relationship before, so he would just treat it as making up for the missing romance and process for her.

Seeing that her son had come to his senses, Tiffany said nothing further and stood up to go to the kitchen to wash some fruit for the little girl when she returned.

Laurent arrived at Tiffany’s door with her daughter and rang the doorbell, but it was Dave who answered. Laurent was momentarily surprised.

The little girl rushed over to Dave the moment she saw him.

"Daddy—"

Dave bent down and picked her up, then glanced at Laurent, who was still standing outside the door.

"Come in."

"No need," Laurent replied. "I’ll just say hi to Tiffany and then leave."

Actually, Laurent had planned to sit down for a while, but upon seeing him here, she didn’t want to go inside anymore.

Dave didn’t say anything, carrying the little girl inside and setting her down. He then turned to Tiffany, who was busy in the kitchen, and said,

" Emma’s back. I have something to do, so I’ll leave now."

Laurent froze for a moment.

The way he said it made it sound like she was the one who had kicked him out.

However, Laurent couldn’t help but wonder why Dave was being so considerate this time. He knew she didn’t want to see him, so as soon as he arrived, he just left?

Given how persistent he had been before, Laurent had always felt he didn’t have this level of self-awareness. But now, it seemed he really did. After speaking with Tiffany, he said goodbye to his daughter and turned to head toward the door.

Laurent, still standing outside, stepped aside to make room for him as he walked toward her.

When he reached her, he paused for a moment. Due to their height difference, he had to look down to meet her eyes, and Laurent couldn’t shake the feeling that there was something dangerously intense in his gaze. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

In the end, he only said one thing to her:

"Goodbye."

Then he walked away.

His politeness sent shivers down Laurent’s spine. What was he up to now?

When Tiffany heard that her granddaughter had returned, she realized Laurent must be there too. She quickly wiped her hands dry and left the kitchen.

"Oh, Laurent’s here! Come in and sit down, take a look at the new home Emma and I have."

Since Dave had already left, Laurent had no reservations and, at Tiffany’s invitation, entered the house.

Laurent and Tiffany had always had a good relationship, so after sitting down, they chatted for a while before he left.

After leaving Tiffany’s house, Laurent took a taxi to the bus station, caught a bus, and headed back.

Meanwhile, at Morrison’s apartment...

It was Sunday afternoon, and since he had no business engagements or work to do, Morrison had spent the afternoon relaxing at home. After a nap, he lounged around, listening to music, watching DVDs, and casually thinking about which bar he might visit later to unwind. It was a leisurely and peaceful afternoon.

The phone rang, and he glanced at the caller ID: Lilian.

Lilian, Lilian.

He repeated the name several times before finally realizing who it belonged to.

His delayed reaction wasn’t because he didn’t know who Lilian was; he certainly did—she was the younger sister of his good friend. It was because Lilian had never called him before, so he was surprised, which made him slow to react.

He couldn’t even remember when he had gotten Lilian’s number. It seemed like he’d had it for a long time, and it was definitely through Dave that he had gotten it.

But they had never been in contact.

When he answered the phone, he thought it was likely a wrong number from the girl.

Her nervous voice came through the line.

"Hello, Brother Morrison, this is Lilian."

Morrison raised an eyebrow. It wasn’t a wrong number? She was really calling him?

But what could she possibly want from him?

He turned down the music and lazily asked her,

"Lilian? Do you need something?"

The girl’s soft, hesitant voice continued.

"Well... are you free? I need to talk to you about something..."

"I’m not free."

He answered her directly like that, and the girl was left speechless on the other end of the line, likely caught off guard by his blunt refusal.

In fact, he hadn’t finished what he was going to say. Lazily, he continued teasing her,

"Come over to my place."

At this, there was complete silence on the other end.
