You're Just My Ex-Husband,My Lord-Chapter 132- get out of my life
As soon as Morrison yelled out just now, the man wearing glasses at table 32, hearing the noise, turned his head toward them. Upon seeing Laurent, his eyes lit up, and he immediately stood up, smiling shyly.
"You must be Laurent?"
Laurent ignored Morrison and Dave, smiled at the man, and replied,
"Yes, that’s me."
He then walked over and sat down in front of him.
Laurent hadn’t expected that even after they took their seats, the two people behind them would still be staring intently at them. Their unusual behavior made the man at the matchmaking session glance up as well, and he curiously asked her,
"Who are these two...?"
Laurent reluctantly explained,
"They’re my friends."
She kept the introduction short. Although she had already told him about her divorce, the fact that her ex-husband was sitting there watching her match-making date would surely make the situation uncomfortable if he knew. So, she decided to brush it off for now with this simple explanation.
The man just nodded in acknowledgment and then stopped paying attention to them as their conversation began.
They hadn’t spoken for long when Dave’s phone rang. He picked it up and said,
"Hello, Emma..."
"You’re going to talk to your mom?"
As soon as Laurent heard him call his daughter’s name, she knew something was wrong. Then, when she heard him say that his daughter wanted to talk to her, she was about to lose it. After a brief pause, she heard him say,
"Okay, hold on."
Dave then stood up, walked over to her with the phone, handed it to her with an expressionless face, and said,
"Your daughter wants to say a few words to you."
He put the phone on speaker, and his daughter’s clear voice came through.
"Mom, wow, are you with Dad? Are you on a date?"
Laurent immediately felt incredibly embarrassed, and the man across from her at the matchmaking session didn’t look too happy either.
Glancing at Dave, who stood tall beside their table, the man asked Laurent, somewhat angrily,
"Is this your ex-husband?"
Laurent could only awkwardly nod,
"Sorry, I didn’t expect him to be eating here too!"
The man looked very upset, especially with the way Dave was staring at him with a provocative expression. Without warning, he stood up,
"If you and your ex are still tied up with each other, then what are you even doing here on a date?"
He pushed his chair aside and stormed off angrily.
"Hey――"
Laurent wanted to explain, but realized the situation had already escalated to this point. No matter what she said now, it would seem hollow.
Her ex was right there, and her daughter was on the phone shouting that she was on a date with her ex. Anyone would be furious!
There was no way any man would want to continue a matchmaking session under these circumstances.
Having no desire to talk to her daughter either, Laurent hung up the phone. She then coldly looked at Dave and said,
"Are you happy now? Besides using your daughter in such a despicable way, what else can you do?"
Dave sat down in the seat across from her, speaking as though nothing had happened,
"I didn’t despicably use our daughter. I just wanted to remind you that if you want to start a new relationship, you should consider me first, since I’m your child’s father."
Laurent was so angry she almost laughed,
"Have you ever heard the saying, ’A good horse doesn’t go back for the grass it once ate’?"
With that, she was mocking him for trying to chase after her, implying that he wasn’t a good enough man to do so, while also hinting that she would never go back to him.
"I haven’t heard that saying," he replied directly, giving her a shameless response that left Laurent speechless.
He then added,
"I only know that a child deserves a complete family."
Faced with his persistent attempts, Laurent decided to sit down and, looking at him, calmly said,
"I’ll help you."
Dave across from her thought he had misheard her, and even Morrison, who had been idly playing on his phone beside them, looked up in surprise upon hearing her words.
"But I have one condition."
Laurent looked at Dave, speaking each word deliberately,
"After helping you this time, you need to completely get out of my life. The farther, the better. Is that clear?" 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
She wasn’t frantic or angry. Instead, her tone was slow and casual, which only made her words seem more sarcastic. Dave’s face immediately darkened as he gritted his teeth, unable to speak.
Morrison couldn’t hold it in and burst out laughing.
It wasn’t surprising that Dave always got so infuriated by her—she was just too good at getting under his skin.
This was a tough choice for him. If he chose not to let her help, he’d miss the opportunity to spend time with her. If he let her help, though, this would be the only chance he’d have to be close to her again.
Unless Dave could make her fall in love with him again during the few days when that French old man came to visit, but as the saying goes, "Rome wasn’t built in a day," that was definitely impossible.
He did have an answer, though. He was very skilled at these things—dealing with women was simple. All it took was flattering and making them happy.
Yes, flattering.
The real question was whether Dave would figure this out.
On the other side, after staring at Laurent for a while, Dave finally gave his answer,
"Fine, I agree. I’ll do whatever you say."
For handling such a tricky situation, the only way was to play along and agree for now. Later, if he kept pestering her, what could she do about it?
Morrison, sitting on the side, gave him a thumbs-up,
"Not bad, you’re getting the hang of it."
Dave agreed so quickly that it made Laurent uneasy. She looked up at him, feeling that something was off. Dave returned her a very sincere smile.
After thinking for a moment, Laurent suggested,
"To prevent you from going back on your word later, let’s sign an agreement."
In Laurent’s mind, Dave was someone who always stood by his word. He was very proud and cared deeply about face and reputation.
Since he had personally promised not to bother her again, signing an agreement in black and white should ensure that he wouldn’t keep pestering her in the future.
On the side, Morrison spoke up,
"Oh, come on, why sign an agreement? You have a living, breathing person right here who can be your witness."
Morrison stood up and walked over to them, patting his chest as he promised Laurent,
"Don’t worry, Laurent. I’ll be your witness. After we help him, if he dares to bother you again, I’ll make sure he regrets it!"
Laurent thought that Morrison was an influential person with status and power, and now that he had given her such a guarantee, there shouldn’t be any problem.
So, she didn’t insist on signing any agreement and turned to Dave, asking,
"Alright, then. Tell me the time, and I’ll take leave."
But she had forgotten one important thing: in business, there’s no such thing as a pure deal.
